if it was a perfect utopia where guns were banned = no killings our police wouldn't need to be wearing there protective vests now would they? and now even the paramedics are being considered for them as they are increasingly being attacked with guns and knives.

True I dont live in a gun culture and do not have highly developed skills but neither would an elementary teacher I suggest.

I'm Currently An RN & Fire Fighter...you never know. I'm not advocating teachers carrying firearms in school, but there should be an armed School Safety Officer onsite.

So shooter video games should be banned? because of it's brainwashing effect of killing/dying/killing over and over for hours each day. Maybe 1 out of a million will snap due to a age/mental health issue and actually start shooting people. And the part about banning drugs i agree with, i doesn't work, why would a gun ban which put's weapons in the hands of criminals or rogue governments, taking power away from the people..but we americans see through that old trick. Im deeply sorry that this shooting happened, it was done by someone evil, but in death we should pray that he goes to hell and the children are in a better place or at rest.

p.s. is it ok when militaries kill whole families because of one man, torchuring children of named terrorists as the Bush era started? Someone is using mind control to stir the pot methinks, whether it's with media and social control, or direct programming somehow.

There is a high chance that your run of the mill “old lady” that you meet on the street in the US, has used a gun before. Hand a shotgun to my 80 year old mom, and the only words out of her mouth would be “where’s the ammo?.... you can’t shoot anything without the ammo.”

Let me ask you, IF there had been a law allowing REGISTERED permit holders like CERTAIN screened employees to carry guns and have them on campus but in a safe place or have an armed security guard there, HOW far do you think this gunman would have gotten then?

What happened yesterday was a horror, to kill children is the lowest form of cowardice without a doubt. my point of view is this...... i live in scotland where hand guns are banned... that's not to say that nobody carries but if you get caught it's a prison sentence. we still have people killling each other on a daily basis.... guns are not the issue....Psychopaths are the issue.....

I would like the right within the law to defend my home and family here in the UK , unfortunately no such rights exist, I wish we had the right to a firearm, The UK is not some utopia without gun crime, I find most people over here are for want of a better expression pussy whipped, If a burglar breaks into my house i have to worry about how much damage i can do to said burglar, what kind of criminal charges i might face or whether I will get sued by the burglar , or maybe its just better to make him a cup of tea and help him carry my stuff away...

I am all for the right to protect your home and family If I could have a handgun tomorrow I would do.

A population that is unarmed is powerless to resist and that is the point, We over here in the UK had our own school massacre (Dunblane, now there is a conspiracy) and within weeks hand guns were banned.

Reasonable Force is open to interpretation, Interpretation by the Police and crown prosecution service big difference.

yet again the old "guns don't kill it's people" has come to fore. Well I'm sorry to say this but that statement is a gross literal simplification :

The US society is obsessed with "the citizen" being armed under "the constitution". So much so that your collective psyche cannot perceive of a a free safe society without "we the people" being able to defend yourselves. If that thought process is endemic within society it is also pervades the thoughts of the less stable members of that society who see the gun as the solution to their psychological problem.
