so it should be on every picture since and from now on then.

there is what appears to be an object with what appears to be a contrail, it isn't suppose to be there. I've seen something similar to this before but i just can't think where......... ah i remember now it was something similar to something I once saw on my lens.

I see them all the time in the sky when taking pictures on earth.

Possibly, depending on the light. However, if it's a smudge of dust then it may not be a permanent fixture on the lens, not an expert on the gravity of Mars and it's effects though.

My point is this, it could be anything before it's some kind of craft and as I said before, I firmly believe NASA does use shuttles and such that we don't know about. I'm also considering the fact that they probably wouldn't release a picture of them using such vehicles without vetting it first.

They probably have made mistakes in the past with this kind of thing, but not anymore

Looks like a camera artefact to me, especially when zoomed in.

Yeah when I put my finger really close to my face, it's really blurry too.

So what we have here is an Unidentified Flying Artifact of some kind it seems. Maybe a Martian one, maybe from New Mexico. Either way, digging the black and white.

Thank you for sharing! The picture is indeed authentic, from the source.

Now we have a clearer idea of what NASA's been so nevous/excited about!

Maybe that's the US's secret mission to mars, for all we know. But then again, why show it to the public if they knew that. Anyways, they are going to say it's another "meteorite", all natural, except for the fact that it looks exactly like a jet, and has a trail of fuel behind it.

The strange thing is OTV-2 was in space testing 'new space technologies' on mission USA-226 for 469 days.

A round trip to Mars could take 400-450 days at the closest point to Earth, so, draw from that what you will!

i love youse guys! thanks for the photo work.!!)

The picture looses its bug like quality when its reverse coloured !!!
In fact i wonder if theres anybody whose got a way to do that to ALL of the NASA supplied pics.............

It could be a remarkable tool if they have been using the technique on us!
The "unmistakable" aeroform certainly has a symetry about it that to my eye belies any natural artifact....
Trick of the lense? trick of the light?
I wonder if theres any way we could scale the x37b? space plane into a comparison?
Its gone out there for two hundred plus days before.....is that the time it takes to go there and return? (with time for in atmosphere scouting as well?)
If its a local flight, well thats another matter.....

There you go.. one UFO next to the x37b

I doubt that would be the case. The lens is going to be top quality possibly sapphire glass which can only be scratched with I believe a diamond . The dirt on the lens is the most likely answer remember Mars has weather so a bit of dust on the lens would be possible.

So all the money that went into "Curiosity" and it's sending back black and white photos?

Sigh.. The problem is not the camera but the bandwidth. Sending images between planets is not as easy as downloading porn you know.

To all the people claiming this is something special ie: a jet..."lol"..... UFO, whatever.....could you please explain why you think it could not be a simple imaging artefact?

And could you explain why it couldn't be a UFO...oh wait it is a UFO by definition. Unidentified Flying Object.

Have you even looked at the enhanced images? Also have you ever looked at Mars pics for hours and days at a time? I have and there are a lot of pics that are questionable and are completely altered. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how a picture has been altered or how something has been taken out or covered up.

This is a pretty good anomaly pic. don't discount it so fast because you can't open your mind to other possibilities beyond what your brain can grasp or what tv/media tells you. NASA will never say oh yea there are being on Mars or hey yea we have people on Mars. Not gonna happen but what they will do is let a few pics slip here and there. Best way to show something is to put it right in your face to where nobody will believe it's anything but an imaging artifact or pixels or dust or whatever reason people give other than the one they don't want to admit to.

Do I think this is some kind of flying object? Could be, could not be but I won't discount it so quickly because we really don't know the truth of Mars. We only know what they let us know.

You do realize this is from Spirit Rover NOT Curiosity. I dont think NASA has really thought of Spirit rover in a while since well it's STUCK.

NASA give up on stuck Spirit Rover

been

asking

this on the very first picture.....

For those of you too lazy to read or click a friggin link this picture is from SPIRIT ROVER NOT Curiosity!!

The images are from Spirit, Sol 584 PANORAMIC

Now was that so hard? All you had to do was click the link in the OP but you just looked at "ufo" and "Mars" and assumed like many in this thread.

Here are a series of photos from Spirit Sol 584

Still pretty much irrelevant and if anything it probably points more to it being something on the lens of the camera.

Is there any photos of mars moon from the rover on the surface of mars? I think those pics would be the best to see, ones of the sunset/sun rise and of the moon.

The reason I asked to begin with is that I thought maybe that object is a star or something? I thought moon but it would appear bigger than that in the sky wouldn't it?

How is it irrelevant?! People are saying it's Curiosity when it's NOT it's Spirit Rover?! People obviously don't read before they post. You obviously aren't a real Mars anomaly enthusiast because it would be relevant to you if you were. I am a big Mars fan and I have always felt there was something about Mars we are not being told. What i find interesting is that the pics from the Viking missions are better than what we see now yet we have better equipment yet people love to say oh it's imaging issues yet we didn't have that problem in the 70s now did we? Pictures were much clearer than they are today. Today's pics look almost fake and airbrushed. Some are decent but there are many that look just horribly processed. How do we go back in technology?

Something on the lens? Did you even see pics people have posted that show it's a solid object with something behind it?

I think 99% of anomalies posted about Mars are just imaging issues, pixels and rocks but there is that 1% that are truly interesting and this is one of them imo. There are only a few others that I find to be of interest and they too are from Spirit.

Here is my top favorite of Mars via Spirit
Spirit Rover, Sol 513
Enlarge it and look at the bottom left.

Here is a picture Curiosity took of the moon Phobos. It's a faint crescent shape but it's there.

Yes, I watched a TV program about this. Are you saying that it's possible that they overlooked this photo? I find that hard to believe, as I'd expect them to examine every detail possible, especially one in the sky.

Just like NASA...

Go all the way to Mars...And forget the color camera.

Somehow these photo's are always poor quality.

I don't much care what anyone says on this one. When that image is reversed you see an airborne craft. With an exhaust trail - period.

Great catch!
