Our calendar and the Mayan long count calendars are linear calendars. They do not repeat. Our calendar counts trips around the Sun. The long count counts rotations of the Earth.

There are cyclic calendars, but even these often have a start and end. In many ancient cultures time was cyclic and went from a time of chaos to a time of order and then regress back to the time of chaos. In modern cultures we remember or recall a day long ago such as our birthdays or a religious event or an historical event such as an independence day. Ancient cultures did not do that. Instead they actually go back to that very time. You can learn more about this concept in a book by Mircea Ileade called, "The Sacred and the Profane."

I can't believe anyone pays attention to Wilcock. He's a fraud. He pretends that he gives scientific references to support his work. Check out the papers. Often they have no connection to what he claims. Even when there is a slight connection he usually reports something other than what was in the paper. That is the sort of fraud that gets real scientists dismissed.

Something big is going to happen? Fraid not.

These ridiculous tales are just carrots being hung on a stick in front of the gullible.

I guess it sounds better than something not worth paying attention to is going to happen.

People take metaphor such as passages in the bible out of context literally more then often. Same goes with the Mayan calender and prophecy. I can't wait for december 22, I will either be dead or alive either way i wont have to hear or read this crap anymore. I will however probably avoid ATS for about a month as there will probably be as many i told you so threads as there was were all going to die threads.
