Don't worry - the media is trying to make this into a horse race, when in fact Romney never had close to the numbers needed to win.

It's really more like, "will Obama barely eek out a victory or will it be more decisive?"

Obama has easily got this though.

There are a lot of mouth-breathers who sincerely buy into the notion that America is the only light in a dark world. In order to understand how offensive that is to other nations, they'd have to think beyond our borders. Most of them have no concept of that idea.

Of course, many of these yahoos actually believe that America is so awesome because an invisible sky-fairy loves us the most.

You can't make crap like this up.

I think this is what the poster was referring to.

One Capitalist crony sells his snake oil to poor and middle class...the other one sells his "tonic" to the rich...but their agendas are not so different in the end.

Well, I read your post and I just have to thank you. You've helped me choose who I'm voting for and that would have to be Mr. Romney. I know the rest of the world would love to see the US fall or be knocked down a peg or two but no, I'm selfish I love a strong country. And I hope Mr. Romney will be able to repair the damage obamas cause.

Obama = Romney = Goldman Sachs.

Ron Paul = Gary Johnson = Liberty and restoration of the Constitution.

If you're voting for Obama or Romney, you haven't done any homework.

It's really hilarious how non-Americans like to lecture Americans about how stupid, ignorant and gullible they are, while at the same time, the same non-Americans fall for the ridiculous propaganda coming from their own media, as well as Obama and the American left, about how wonderful Obama is, and how much "he cares." Haha, what a joke.

Good one! You got me back, and what you say is true to a degree for sure, but I'm not actually endorsing Obama, only suggesting that an opposition vote against Romney is equally powerful, or maybe not equally but powerful nevertheless.

You don't even have to be pro-Obama to vote Obama and influence the election in that way, and yes it's the lesor of two evils what are YOU to do?

edit on 5-11-2012 by NewAgeMan because: (no reason given)
I understand that the US election does, based on what the president sets as his foreign policy, have an impact on the rest of the world. Thus, I have no problems hearing from Canadians, Brits, or anyone else who wants to voice an opinion.

However, in this election, what you just said here is reason enough for me to discount what you are saying. Obama has had four years in office. For him to have four more, he needs to convince me he has done a good job in the White House. So, since you are so concerned, tell me why I should vote for Obama. I don't want to hear why Romney is so bad, I want to hear why Obama is good.

Tell me why you want me to vote FOR Obama, not AGAINST Romney. In my opinion, in a re-election the incumbent needs to show me why I should give them another term. The burden of proof is on them, and their supporters, to show me what he has done that deserves another four years.

Why should Americans care if their patriotism is offensive to other nations? I love this country, despite its problems, and I don't care if other nations are offended.

Should Canadians get offended because Americans love the US?
Should Americans get offended because Brits love the UK?
Should Brits get offended because Spaniards love Spain?

Honestly, if anyone is concerned that believing one's own country to be the best hurts the feelings of other people in other nations, they have WAY too much time on their hands to worry about stupid thing.

I believe there is very little difference between the two favored candidates! I believe Romney will win and most Americans will believe this is what the majority of their countrymen want! There will be some disent to the change that this man brings but most will be adamant to this! America has brought this on itself and each time
there is an election we all seem to vote for which ever of the two party candidates we hate the least! We allow the media to silence those third party candidates instead of seeking them out ourselves! We treat the political process as if it is some sort of sporting event where we need to be part of the winning team yet each time we refuse to see we are the only losers of this game! When we finally realize we are, then we decide there is nothing we can do about any of this! These beliefs are what allow the elite to subjugate us through fear, disinformation and other controlling tactics! Until the day when we realize our republic has been hijacked by an
olygarchy of international banking, US military and intelligents agencies we will never have the ability to fight back! I don't know if this day will ever come but we have been warned for years by multiple presidents but these warnings went unheeded! The last president that refused to do the bidding of these men was Kennedy and we all know what happened to him! Many of us deny this will be the year that will bring destruction! Well i believe
that could be true, if we continue to ignore the great many changes that are threatening our freedoms, security and our very lives this prophecy will become self fulfilling or we can create change of a positive nature through the realization that we have no choice other then the choice to act in the face of adversity! God help us to all become patriots to defy the evil that is inherent in any hierarchy!

I see you dont get him you can love your country pretty sure everyone does its there country, but he's trying to say is that every one in USA thing there country is the best and that it's the only country out there witch it is not, they offend other country's cause they act all high and mighty when in face everyone is the same. You can love your country but your country wont love you and you need to keep in mind a country is not the place but the ppl in that place that make the country, you can love your country just dont think its the shiny beacon out there cause its not no 1 country can do anything on its own

Are you smoking crack? Obama is out to destroy America as a superpower and is doing a great job so far! He is a muslim dedicated to destroying us from within and you want 4 more years of this??? Romney is not perfect but he is the better choice by far.

I love my country, too.

My point was directed at those people who buy into the ludicrous notion of "American exceptionalism" (i/e we rule because the G-O-D like us most of all!) and those who insist we're the only beacon of freedom in the world. Anyone who thinks that has clearly never been anywhere outside the U.S. Please, tell Norweigans and Germans how un-free and dismal their lives are.

Everything OP said is meaningless and is not anything that deserves major attention. What we need is a leader who will focus on the economy and not little things to make certain people happy.

Why give a known failure at the economy another chance?

First of all, I would like to commend the OP for a no bones look at the Romney/Ryan ticket.

The thing is, I see this race a just a little different. It is clear to me that Romney and Obama are neoliberals; they simply come from different sub groups of neoliberalism.

Both men follow a lot of the ideas of the neo-con agenda. To Obama`s credit he has a government littered with Neo-cons due to eight years of Bush/Chaney(if Obama gets reelected I would expect a major purge of neo-cons from D.C.).

Although both men are not true neo-cons for clear reasons. At best Obama is a protectionist capitalist with very slight democratic socialist tendencies. Obama dished out a massive government bail-out but only to selected sectors of the economy. He also wants all Americans to have access to healthcare but thinks the private sector can make that happen by requiring all private healthcare companies to give anyone coverage and requiring all Americans to have healthcare insurance. He is not all the serious about reducing military spending(although he has been able to trim a little of the DOD budget). He has not really ended many of the Bush era anti-terror policies against American citizens(in some cases he has expanded them). And let`s not forget the whole Benghazi mess he is running away from.

Romney is a straight up ruling capitalist class elitist. He was born very rich and has not really work a hard day in his entire life. He comes from a kind of privilege very few Americans know anything about. He has clearly lied and cheated his way though life with very few limits placed on him. He is hated in the state he used to be governor. The best example of his leadership skills is preventing a winter Olympics from being a total embarrassment. During his time at Bane Capital he was a monster of the capitalist. He would do, and did do, anything to get rich. There is nothing in his platform which offers any forward thinking about the future of America. His policies are very similar to the attitude and opinions of Capitalist in the 1920`s and 1930`s.

Both man are very wealthy and members of the upper class in American society. Obama just had to work a little harder than Romney did. Both men are very detached from the life of the common worker in the United States.

Considering all of these things about both men, I went down to the American Embassy here in Tokyo the other day and voted Green, Socialist, Independent or simply did not vote for anyone when there was only a GOP or DNP candidate to choose from.

God sent Sandy to pick Obama's numbers up in the last week or so. From what I've heard, He figures that if that doesn't do the trick, then the folks here in USA land deserve the next four years, and that the rest of you are on your own.

God helps those who help themselves. It's been that way for some time now.
