Really? Define socialism. If you were capable of defining socialism then you would have recognized several examples of it during this current administration. Its funny how you call something you dont understand a talking point, instead of pointing out where I'm wrong, its a liberal defense mechanism. Point out where I'm wrong. The sad thing is you can not, if you actually understood what you were saying or supporting you would not support it. That is why you are a lib. Obama is a socialists/communists and there is no way you could prove differently. You do not know the definition, nor have you read any relevent history pertaining to said social policies.

There's not "examples" of socialism in America. Socialism is a top down economic structure, which creates communally owned and controlled assets, publicly controlled land and the workers (that's you) own and control the "means of production".

In other words, we all own it and we all benefit from it.

There's NO examples of that in America.

You don't have ownership of the medical system. You don't benefit when it benefits, do you?

If you UNDERSTOOD Socialism you'd understand this.

A tax, as part of a private medical system, not public, to expand healthcare coverage, in which insurance companies - private businesses - and doctors - private businesspeople - are paid by citizens, and in which they keep their profits, is not even vaguely Socialism.

There's only one group that think America is in anyway headed for Socialism: people who don't know what socialism means. Well, there's a second group, people who DO know what it means, but lie about it to chumps like you, to scare you, and win votes.

We are heading down a socialist path. You have the narrow minded textbook view of socialism. If you look at Fabianist Socialism, you see public ownership of the means of production that is indirect via regulation and taxation with the redistribution to the workers via a progressive taxation system and a gradual, evolutionary change to pure socialism. Obama is very much a Fabian Socialist.

Really, did you read what you said? Communally owned? What is GM? You and I are owners in GM, via the government(top down). You read things but do not understand them. In socialsim you the individual does not own anything, the government owns and distributes, according to need. It is where the state has direct control of means of production and distribution of goods and services. This is the "democratic form of socialim" in a very broad generalization and the one people are refering to when discussing american socialism. There are many types of socialism and degrees, not just communal which I believe you are refering to whether you know it or not.

Pick up a history book and look at actual examples, hell look at other countries where it is in practice. You do not understand what you are talking about and this is why you are liberal. If you would read history and philosophies of the things you believe in you would not sound so uneducated. Educate yourself, dont just believe in what marx and lenin say, read it! Then defend it. Or simply march "forward" like a lemming.

I would disagree here. Momentary passions can and often do last a lifetime, and can carry one through some rough times, and can certainly outlast lost moments due to morally ambiguous decisions.

Pretty much.

This idea can roughly correspond to the Greek comedy and drama. Our life is both dramatic, and yet beneath it, something tremendously comical. This is a personal comical feeling. When you see someone in pain, you're witnessing a drama. Something serious which you should sincerely try to commiserate with. But at a moment of insight, that persons previous suffering is laughed at. That he took things so seriously.

It's another one of the paradoxes of life.

I have to admit that I'm still basking in the glow of the outcome of the US election. It's changed my life but I can't quite explain precisely why and how, but there's some fresh new possibility in the air, and as for me a lowly Canadian, eh, I too am going to put my hand to the plow without looking back and generate a phenomenal life for myself.

And in that spirit, I wish you all the very best.

may God bless America, and the whole world. Amen.
