Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen so I'm not voting, but I think I express the international sentiment well when I say that we are very concerned about how close this race is, and how close the USA is from potentially bringing back the Bush/Cheney era crazies like Condi Rice (who sat beside Romney during the GOP convention), deregulation, military-inductrial buildup and all manner of crony-capitalism. During the Bush Jr. years, is was like losing an old friend, and now we've seen that friend returning, however slowly the comeback has been. I am aware of the Romney campaign torture memo and it just sent shivers down my spine that one of their first priorities is to bring back the kind of thing that the devil, if there is one is known to specialize in (torture).

We, the citizens of the world want a moderate, friendly and benevolent America, not a domineering one, and we're a little freaked out over just how close this race is, and to be honest, we're at a bit of a loss as to how it could even be that close to begin with.

Romney's a Mormon who ran a "rigged game" at his company Bain Capital, and while that's considered by some to be good business it really doesn't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. Regarding his Mormonism and what I've learned about it, that too just creeps me right out the idea of that church being tied right into the highest office in the land.

It's scary - so I'm asking for God to inform the minds of the American people to choose yes what is probably the "lessor of two evils", but by God how stupid can the American people be to think that Romney has the best interests of the average American Joe at heart. He's a big business, ruling elite, crony-capitalist in a stuffed suit, who will cowtow to the lowest demoninators in terms of ruling elite special interest and he's on record stating that a two state solution to the M.E. problem is utterly impossible and hopeless while siding exclusively with Israel. And to top it all off, he's not even that smart from what I can tell.

Please oh God help keep the world safe from the kind of America we witnessed during the Bush/Cheney years, and please keep our individual and collective mutual best interests safe from the pilfering of the rich and greedy. Amen.

Hey New,
What the hell guy ? I thought you were one like me who knows for a fact it doesn't matter who wins ?

Now let me read your thread.

It's scary

?
My good man , without being here and being under the gun as my countrymen and I are. And with Canada being one of the best places in the world to be right now ? Both logistically and politically as well as in other ways ?
I'm afraid you have no idea how scary things are.

Yeah, Obama is the saviour. Since when this guy did something that would not benefit the riches and greedy?

Being benevolent don`t bring much positive things too. Just take a look at the situation in the Middle East.

Just how moderate and friendly is the world today under Obama?

You want more?

You want a defeated America. An America you can roll over on.

Americans dont.

I have to agree with you. It's a scary thought that he could be president. Lowering taxes on the wealthiest Americans, like they really need another tax break. War with Iran. Abolishing a bill that prevents health insurance companies from not covering people with pre-existing conditions.
and that's just what we know for sure he'll do.....

good thing it's all fake, and Romney will do exactly, possibly, what he's told to do like a good little puppet. There's no difference between Romney and Obama.

BUT on the offchance my paranoia is wrong.....the thought of Romney as president, and the fact so many people support him, scares the # out of me.

It makes no difference who wins.

If Romney wins, the black folks riot, we invade Syria and Iran, but the economy starts to recover a little bit.

If Obama wins, the economy tanks, the working folks and small business people pack up shop and apply for government benefits, but the world breathes a sigh of relief, and nobody gets bombed right away. Oh, except for Iran and Syria, because if we don't do it Israel still will.

It's not about an endorsement of Obama, but a repidiation of what Romney's really all about and the frame of reference by which he sees himself and the country, which is a top down POV catering to the very rich and the corporate crony-capitalists, including the Health Insurance and Big Finance companies, with the little guy right at the bottom of a giant pyramid, a pyramid also capped off by Mormonism, which is an absolute con, and a lie.

I ask God not to endorse Obama, but to warn the American people away from voting for Romney.

It's pretty freaky how ill informed the average American is and the degree to which they've been propogandized by various forms of irrational sentiment. It's easy to spot from the outside looking in.

I agree with you OP 100%, I think the only people who do not are American and those who want the old USA, the one that uses might and bombs to make countrys do what they want.
People in the USA need to understand that the world doesn't need a bully superpower, we want one that not only thinks of itself but every country on the planet.
Obama got a bad deal when he got in because of the timing of the financial crisis and he has done well in understanding that the USA can not be like it was in the cold war.
Pity we can not vote because this vote will affect everyone on the planet and MR just seems bat # crazy to me.

WRONG!
The economy tanks under either candidate.

There's absolutely NOTHING anyone can do to stop it.

Not to mention what Romney has said won't do a damn thing.

How is lowering taxes, and increasing military spending, going to fix a deficit? the only cuts he's proposed account for only 9% of the budget, if he cuts them all, his other changes will negate it, and we will end up with a bigger deficit.
It's math.

And what did Obama do for the country and the world.
Many people want to hear good things and that fills the void inside of them. Others want to see actions. Were do you stand and what did you see in his actions that make you think he deserves the job?

The other guy will do the very same thing, the whole time lying to his base. Smoke and mirrors and the sheep that can not see past them.

Heck you know what maybe we will see change for the good in the next 4 years. I wonder in 4 years if I will be writing this again and then 4 years from then.

Pot, meet kettle. Ironic you would say something like that, when you are the one purporting one candidate over another, when in reality they are the same. Maybe you have been propogandized into believing there is some difference between the two candidates.

Since you quoted a comedian, I will too.

Now it's either a 2nd Obama term or one of six possible Mitt Romneys -- Bill Maher

There are plenty of threads on ATS, outlining the violence in Canada, and Canada ranks higher per capita than the US in violent crime. Canadians always like to skew the results and leave out Vancouver and several other hotbeds, but we could do the same here. 99% of the US is virtually crime free, and the crime that does occur is typically done by one's own associates. Random crime is nil.

Stop it already....

Romney has stated numerous times he will not lower taxes on the upper class. Just because Obama keep repeating lies does not make it true.

You want socialism, go to Canada or England. The U.S.A. is an experiment in capitalism which is supposed to be based on christian values. Romney shines highly in helping his fellow man by giving 30% of his income to help others. Obama would not even give $1,000 to help his nephew for an operation.

You people need to wake-up. Most rich people got there by working tirelessly, not by asking for hand-outs.

Right, but Romney is running as if the mere elevation of himself to the potion of POTUS will create jobs, as if it's at his command to just waive a magic wand and poof - jobs galore. That's deceptive and disingenuous, not that Obama's a truth-telling saint.

No matter who gets in, the USA and the global economy is on the verge of a sustained recovery, which although somewhat slower than hoped for, will I think be remembered in hindsight as the longest period of gtradual economic expansion since the industrial revolution. Why? Two things, one, globalization (for real, having already absorbed the more challenging aspects ie: loss of US-based Manufacturing jobs), and two, technological innovation.

Oh, God, please don't let Obama win. If he does, the US will be destroyed as we know it. A stifling government will rip the country of its wealth and turn it into a third world backwater. Obama is such a gutless coward that it just makes me sick.
