I got news for you - it aint that close.

Obama has had double-digit leads for a while. Romney got a miniscule bounce after the first debate, and has been steadily losing ground ever since.

The Republicans are playing up the "toss-up" angle to try and get the vote out.

But it isn't close.

Funny i've been saying that for the last 10 years off my life and im 24 and i dont live in the USA.

You guys are getting the royal king screwing over there not that its any better here also why dont you just do a 3rd party vote and make it a hobo he can run the country better then any rich ass could any day just think about it you will understand what im saying there.

But for the last couple of months i have always said mitt the tick would win that religion nut was going to pull out i was right on him lets see tonight if i am right or not, if i am god help you cause you guys are going to be in for one hell of a ride, you the funny thing is your United States Constitution just goes out the window why the # do you even have it if you are not going to listen to it

You NON-AMERICANS have no appreciation for OUR system of government, politics and how we live. You also have no business telling us how to run our country and our small nation states either.

When you can FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS with 100% success, then we might have a chance to meet, sit down and talk and figure out the next thing that needs fixing. Until then .... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT !

Thing is because the USA is such a huge economy etc the things that happen in the USA effect the rest of the world, the financial crash started in the states and effected the whole world.
So of course people from outside the states are interested in what happens.

Heck you can say the same thing you have said but with a different slant here we go...

"You Americans have no right dictating what happens in any other country but your own, fix your own problems before trying to fix everyone elses" see how silly it sounds?

I think your real fear is that the religious right will partner with the Canadian authorities to break up more of your pedophile rings just like they did a few months ago.

Seriously StarWise---

These presedential candidates talk, talk, talk on camera and on mic all day long. They are under great pressure contstantly, and in the public eye.

They are going to flub from time to time. Or say something in the wrong way or with the wrong levity

You probably do it all day long. We all do.

But to actually base who you are going to vote for based on one sound bite...well, I'm totally incredulous.

How irrational.

Romney will win by a LANDSLIDE

If only Romney was as committed to Education reform and more affordable access to higher education... is there an ism for that?

Yes. It's called Governmentshouldruneverythingism, from the Lifeishardsomeoneelsedothisformeplz School of Philosophic Fallacy.

I feel sorry for anyone who has a small business or anyone trying to start one.

Let's make up a hypothetical scenario:

Someone is unemployed and wants to establish his own business. Romney is the new president. The person, belonging to the 47%, might need assistance to start his business.

What will Romney do?

Has he some plans, eg. loans/financial support etc. for the ones who need it? Oh wait. He doesn't. Not only that, he is more likely to see the unemployed as a leech and cut off even the last remainder of the help he had, for example food stamps, welfare etc.

Now the unemployed is REALLY screwed. Now tell me how it will help him to establish a business?

Edit: Or for that matter, tell me ANYTHING about Romney's plans how he will support small businesses or those who plan to establish one.

That's funny. There's this thing that people do when they are building a start-up. I know it sounds crazy, but when they are in need of working capital, they go and have a talk with--this is the crazy part--people who have enough liquid assets to become investors/partners/owners in the start up.
That's right! No Government involvement necessary. It's wild, right?

I got to thank you on that one cause i was to busy laughing at him

Now
Labrynth2012 it seems that you have NO clue as to wtf is going on out side your own country as boymonkey74 helpfully pointed out that if USA goes out the world goes out with it so of course other country's are worried accept china since mitt's giving them the jobs also i didnt say my country doesnt need fix or is great my country is ruined by the British and has been for the last 211 years most like more, Labrynth2012 you need to understand every country around the world that has a government needs fixed its not the people its them so it comes back to what i said if your country goes under the rest will cause there government cant do anything BUT if that happens i pretty sure you can over throw your government but haven't YET

I love how all these people from different countries come forward on ATS like their opinion on American politics is relevant and they actually know what they are talking about. Until Canadian politics becomes even somewhat relative crawl back into your little hole instead of regurgitating front-page news articles in places like the New York Times.

The international community does have a say because a republican presidency = a war that other countries may have to get sucked into.

Really?? I seem to recall ole' "Cowboy" Bush being roasted for 'illegal' 'unilateral' actions....unilateral being the operative word here, you know.... = a war that no other countries (aside from the target, that is) have to get sucked into, because we were gonna go it alone. The 'international community' appeared to absolutely loathe that idea.

On the other hand, Obama = awesome magic world peace of loving amazingness with no wars sucking other countries in! Because Libya.

Your Canadian, your Government bows down to Israel worse than ours does. It matters not who our Potus is. Major policy does not change. How many things did Obama get rid of that Bush installed? None. Our process is fraud. Matters not who's in White house, there is still gonna be a war in the Middle East. Our infrastucture is still gonna rot, our schools will still lack in all aspects, more & more folks on Welfare & Food stamps, and the Occupations will rage on, unemployment will still be where it's at now probally higher. The rich get richer, the poor get dumped on.

Nothing changes with a new Potus. Nothing. You can allmost see the puppet strings coming off both of their backs. America is in the crapper, and there's a hand on the flusher...

Hi, I'm a Canadian citizen so I'm not voting, but I think I express the international sentiment well when I say that we are very concerned about how close this race is, and how close the USA is from potentially bringing back the Bush/Cheney era crazies like Condi Rice (who sat beside Romney during the GOP convention), deregulation, military-inductrial buildup and all manner of crony-capitalism. During the Bush Jr. years, is was like losing an old friend, and now we've seen that friend returning, however slowly the comeback has been. I am aware of the Romney campaign torture memo and it just sent shivers down my spine that one of their first priorities is to bring back the kind of thing that the devil, if there is one is known to specialize in (torture).

We, the citizens of the world want a moderate, friendly and benevolent America, not a domineering one, and we're a little freaked out over just how close this race is, and to be honest, we're at a bit of a loss as to how it could even be that close to begin with.

Romney's a Mormon who ran a "rigged game" at his company Bain Capital, and while that's considered by some to be good business it really doesn't add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. Regarding his Mormonism and what I've learned about it, that too just creeps me right out the idea of that church being tied right into the highest office in the land.

It's scary - so I'm asking for God to inform the minds of the American people to choose yes what is probably the "lessor of two evils", but by God how stupid can the American people be to think that Romney has the best interests of the average American Joe at heart. He's a big business, ruling elite, crony-capitalist in a stuffed suit, who will cowtow to the lowest demoninators in terms of ruling elite special interest and he's on record stating that a two state solution to the M.E. problem is utterly impossible and hopeless while siding exclusively with Israel. And to top it all off, he's not even that smart from what I can tell.

Please oh God help keep the world safe from the kind of America we witnessed during the Bush/Cheney years, and please keep our individual and collective mutual best interests safe from the pilfering of the rich and greedy. Amen.

Obama has done crony capitalism, has not shut down GITMO, has expanded the war in Afghanistan and extended it into Pakistan with drone strikes, gotten us invovled militarily in other places in the ME, and has poured billions into corporate bailouts. He's done everything that you say you are afraid that Romney will do.

Great post..
You have painted a Very accurate picture of what is taking place in the US.....

How it is people don't get it baffles me beyond words?????

Let's make a change, tighten our belts, and move on....

There are many who have made far greater sacrifices for this country, and I can only imagine what they would think about this current downward spiral.....Time for Change !

So your saying we, who are not American have no right to dictate how you should live, but you who are American, have every right in the world to dictate how we live?? If you' ve ever wondered why so many humans hate Merica, there you go. You illustrated it quite expertly.
