It depends on how the word is being used as to whether it's your or you're. Your is a pronoun and you're is a contraction. Here are some sample sentences.

The people I know that do not use English as their first language manage to use the proper then/than, you're/your, etc. better than those that have been taught English in schools here in America.

I have however had to explain that "wanna" is not a word.

Yeah, and about 5-7 years ago (I can't remember and, quite frankly don't care to research) the US Government wanted to add a class to all schools making 'Ebonics" an actual dialect that should be learned. That fell flat, as it should have.

Enough said, if you talk like a fool and use grammar like an idiot - no one will take you seriously.

I like others have bypassed threads because of the simple lack of understanding of the English language - from Americans.

I have been wanting to do this for a while now.

i could care less about you're issue's with incorrect grammar.
it's not rocket surgery.

I can promise you that if we had the time to write a disclaimer that there will most likely be a few mistaken words in the beginning of our threads, and that means that you will move on, no one would lose any sleep over it.

In no way shape or form do people really care about what a handful of people feel personally about spelling, grammar, or whatever it is that seems to cause people to repeatedly write these threads.

By claiming that someones grammar in a thread will cause you to feel that they are stupid, or less than you, because you know when to use a comma, then the problem is yours and no one else's.

Then your place should be in a school, or college and not on an internet forum trying to put people down. If I make a few mistakes and you don't like it... so what.

Maybe those that make these mistakes are actually trying to make you move on so that you miss the message... hey its a conspiracy site, isn't it??

To throw in another perspective on the Great Grammar Debate, I'd note one thing that I know I'm personally horrible with. As many do, I tend to type at around the same speed I speak or close to it. Years upon years in chat rooms with 20-30 or more people and falling behind simply not being possible to participate tends to train FAST typing that never really fades. Fast...isn't 100% accurate though and in that environment the trade off is well worth it.

In this one? It's a bad trade-off, indeed. When typing and with emotion at times, is learned in a casual forgiving way like that, it's a lifelong battle to correct the few bad habits it really makes core. After years of learning that way, it truly is life long to correct it.

....then you have old age and the fact those darn fingers don't hit the key and ONLY the key I meant often enough pushing 40 now to wonder what 60 will be and sometimes envy the 20 somethings who can write a few thousand words without a single slip, once.

You're right. People should be held accountable for what they say, how they say it and the use of logic. If they're unable to articulate or express something concisely, with proper grammar and without contradiction, their words and ideas become suspect in my opinion.

Grammatical laziness shows how little thought was put into certain statements.

You call adding new words to the dictionary redefining language and suiting my deficiencies?

It's done all the time and surprisingly they don't do it for me.

I bypass threads with condescending authors of bad information.

Hm. Seems like a good opportunity to throw in my two. I can take "you're/your". I've come to accept it.

What I cannot abide, however, is "I seen". It is rampant. Honestly, I don't believe people know the difference anymore.

It's "I saw" folks. "I seen", is the most despicable and unfortunate abuse of English grammar.

You saw, so you have seen. They saw, so now they've seen. Saw. Have seen.
Don't mean that in a nasty way, apparently it doesn't bother anybody except me.
