Agreed, I just travelled through there a few months ago, I have family near Atlanta. I also visited the guide-stones when I was there. It was interesting.

Yes, I had the pleasure of riding through the greyhound station downtown Atlanta, not quite as frightening as the downtown Greyhound/amtrack facility downtown New Orleans. Frightening, that whole city is like a giant concentration camp in the making.

I hear ya Heff, I'm from Macon.And that Greyhound station in downtown Atlanta, across from the strip club, Magic City, it's a trip.

Go four or five blocks towards Grady from the Bus Station and it's as bad as anything to be found in Detroit. Atlanta got a "facelift" in '96 when we had the Olympics. They literally built the Olympic Village over the projects - Techwood Homes - and, after the Olympics? Turned it into high end condo's.

They basically just sent the poor off to the south and west with Section 8 vouchers in hand.

Atlanta is one of those cities that is gorgeous - if you stay in the right areas. Take a wrong turn? You might end up in mansions - or you might end up in something straight out of a Mad Max flick.

And this, regarding the OP, is a Red state - IE mostly Republican and very little "socialism". It's a total mess. Truly it is. I live in a town called Stockbridge and we have a tent city here ( in the suburbs ) of folks who have overflowed out of Atlanta - probably 400 to 500 strong.

I was of the impression, when visiting Atlanta, that they are kind of letting Atlanta go by the wayside. It appears as an older city, much different than Houston or other cities where they have done plenty of renovations, Atlanta seems a much older city and they have not done much to improve it. Granted it was nothing like New Orleans, I spotted at least 100 homeless just waking up to the day under the bridge as we approached the terminal. Not to mention the creepy murals and all the barbwire and lockdown that New Orleans is in. If you think the DIA murals are creepy, (I have visited their recently too) look up the murals at the amtrack facility. On the way out I spotted a heap if scrap metal left from Katrina that was about a football field in height.

Edit: Also in Atlanta I thought it was interesting that the capital building is capped in Gold, the only other place I have been that has a gold capped capital is Denver, which is more modern, similar to Houston. Which reminds me way back when I started doing research on the DIA conspiracies, it was stated that Denver becomes the western sector of NWO and Atlanta the eastern sector. Maybe their is something to it. Does anyone know of any other capital buildings with gold caps?

Yes my greyhound experience was interesting but traveling greyhound is not something I want to do again.

Yeah, my wife and I had just learned about megabus. If I ever do anything like that again, Ill probably go megabus. Of course the day after our discussion a megabus ran into the overpass traveling through Chicago.

Nevermind, I just checked and thats not exactly true. It does seem cheaper though and nicer.

What I want is a government which returns to the ideals of the enlightenment. A government which governs with scientific and empirical evidence in its' policies. If you have a policy going and the results show it is not positive, change it, if it keeps going negative then replace it using some educated guess, rinse and repeat... until an optimal solution is found or a more perfect union...

If I were to be labelled my views align with libertarian socialism. This term is an oxymoron anywhere else in the world except the US, everyone else assumes you are of the libertarian variety if a socialist in other countries. It is absurd to be any other variety.

In any case, I always like to post a form of governance I believe is optimal.

Lets start with the Dunbar Number. This is the maximum number of associations you can have in a meaningful social way. The estimated figure is somewhere between 150 to 300, so lets chose the low estimate of 100. If you organize every person in the world in groups of 100, that each elect one member into the next group of 100, you arrive at a governing structure in the form of a tree with branching factor 100 and max depth 6. 100^6 is quite a large number.

This implies any person in the world is at most 6 electoral steps away from being in the ruling set of citizens and at most 600 people need to be convinced of your ability. Certain messaging rules would be required, no group may talk to another, except through elected officials. Anyone may propose a bill, but the bill must be voted on by the leafs (the bottom groups) and each elected official must vote with the group where his/her vote determines the not-present votes. Various elected scientists and engineers in their respective fields would analyse proposed policy and report to the governing bodies (every group of 100) which will then decide to pass it or not... If the policy requires a certain number of citizens to be viable (through the analysis report) then any sub-tree may pass the bill assuming all sub-trees lower agree, the benefits of the legislation would only apply to that sub-tree...

I agree with most of the planks in the socialists parties platform.
