I'll never understand why some people let politics color every aspect of their lives. It beggars belief that in this day and age some people let the rifts politicians sow get as wide as they have in our society.

Well said I was not going to get involved in this thread at all but felt compelled to post a reply, just the mischievous side of me jumped in, I am neither left or right but I do like Stewart, his wit and view on the whole thing is very funny, if anything I am defending him but people get so worked up about who is the lesser evil of two people that they lose sight of how much they are in trouble whoever takes office.

I agree. Modern American conservatives seem to hate just about everybody. They despise the Europeans, especially the French, for their "socialism." They hate Muslims (they're all terrorists bent on the destruction of America). They hate hispanics (they're coming to our country and taking our jobs). They hate the Canadians (they're relatively liberal and have socialized medicine). They hate asians, especially the Chinese (all our jobs are being shipped over there). I mean, no matter who it is, if it isn't another American conservative, if it's anybody who isn't like them in some way and doesn't see things their way, they seem to find a reason to hate them.

You read their posts after news stories and they never even make a point. They just hurl insults, disdain, accusations and distortions. They seem to be sooooo contemptuous of most people on Earth.

And yet, incredibly, they accuse everyone else of "hate." It's incredible they can't see the irony of this.

People like the fact that Fox News gives them a voice too, but you don't see liberals saying anything positive about that.

I don't see anything positive in it. I hate the fact that we have any news media that allows people to live in bubbles and seek validation. Nothing good comes from it, and that goes from MSNBC as well.

In my opinion bias agenda driven news should be called propaganda.

There is something called journalistic integrity, news men who had it used to give us the facts as they are with no biased opinion attached. Journalistic integrity encouraged people to think for themselves. Unfortunately drama and partisan hacks bring in higher ratings from people who seek validation, so journalistic integrity has taken a back seat on the majority of news networks. Thanks to the dumbing down of our culture we'd rather be entertained by news than informed by it.

As far as John Stewart goes he is a comedian, he has more room to be bias than news in my opinion. I think it's a sad day when we compare the bias of a comedian to any news network.

I gave you a star and agree with you that the dissonance with reality is abysmal at Fox but one must mention that Jon Stewart itself is often a supporter of left policies, a lot fairer, but visibly left inclined on the subject mater and its coverage.

The problem is that there is no non-enfranchised media outlet, there is no real impartiality and this is what permits the focusing of the discourse on the validity of the message being transmitted in place of a fair analysis of ideas and projects that are often not even present on the message.

Right around 2008 when the bull-# hit the fan...I remember hearing Romney speaking about these "high" dollar horses he was getting his wifey...and just watching those two they made me sick! I could tell by the way they went on that he was an elitist...

And now that the " tax" conversation has been going on....I know why he didn't want to show us. He like the rest of those people that are all self-righteous hire the best tax accountants thieves use every trick in the book to hide assets so they don't have to pay the man. It's a proven fact!!!

At the end of the day...we're hiring the same people in....over and over...and it doesn't stop w/ the president...it's the congress and the senate...do we have some good people in....sure...but they end up leaving or getting pushed out because they try to work for us but it's not permitted!

We need to get the banks, wall street, big oil and pharma out of there because it is those people who are controlling the house. We need to do something people or it's going to continue this way. People abroad can't stand us...they want to see us dead....what did we do????? Nothing...we're just as innocent as they are. A few select people that we ALLOW... To do the lying, and stealing and just plaine ole corruption are going to get your kids killed and you killed!!!!

We are going to have to do something!!!! We can't even get a good president to vote in. We have noooooo choices!!! None!!!! Obama, Romney ......that's it!!! Those people are giving us no choice!!!!!

I've given up. Just look at this board. It's a mess, and it reflects what this country has become. A bunch of reactionary people. I full expect the country to just fall apart. I'm squirreling away money for when I eventually have to move out of this state when it goes full on crazy. People keep expecting a miracle from a corrupted, decadent society. They are getting exactly what they deserve.

Rob the poor to feed the rich. Let's just turn the whole country into Galt's Gulch and let everything burn. I think that would finally make ATS happy.

If there is one thing you can be sure of on ATS, it is that if PvtHudson posts anything it will contain as much hatred and derogatory versions of the word liberal he can think of. In his view they aren't real Americans and shouldn't be allowed to live here.
