This propbaly was published by "mistake, but CNN and the AP have run with a "Fact Check" of the claims made by the Obama administration and the DNC Convention speakers who've echoed Obamma's claim that he gas "created 4.5 million new jobs," and found it to be misleading and inaccurate.

Anyone watching the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night heard the number 4.5 million several times.
"Despite incredible odds and united Republican opposition, our president took action, and now we've seen 4.5 million new jobs," San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, the party's keynote speaker, said.
...

The facts:
The number Castro cites is an accurate description of the growth of private-sector jobs since January 2010, when the long, steep slide in employment finally hit bottom. But while a total of 4.5 million jobs sounds great, it's not the whole picture.

Nonfarm private payrolls hit a post-recession low of 106.8 million that month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figure currently stands at 111.3 million as of July.
While that is indeed a gain of 4.5 million, it's only a net gain of 300,000 over the course of the Obama administration to date. The private jobs figure stood at 111 million in January 2009, the month Obama took office.
And total nonfarm payrolls, including government workers, are down from 133.6 million workers at the beginning of 2009 to 133.2 million in July 2012. There's been a net loss of nearly 1 million public-sector jobs since Obama took office, despite a surge in temporary hiring for the 2010 census.

CNN Fact Check: About those 4.5 million jobs ... CNN Reality Check: 4.5 million jobs created?

Over at The Associated Press, the fact checkers dug even deeper, but hammered the "job creation" exaggerations as well:

SAN ANTONIO MAYOR JULIAN CASTRO: "Despite incredible odds and united Republican opposition our president took action. And now we've seen 4.5 million new jobs."
While that figure has become a White House talking point, it's only part of the story. It's a cherry-picked number that refers just to private sector jobs created in the last 29 months, from the trough of the recession through July. Governments - especially state and local ones - have continued shedding jobs.
The economy lost 8.8 million jobs from the time employment peaked in January 2008 until it hit bottom in February 2010. Between then and this July - the most recent month for which there are figures - just 4 million jobs have been recovered. Never since World War II has the economy been so slow to recover all the jobs lost in a downturn.

Some Obama programs embellished by Democrats

This is only the 1st day of the convention behind us, yet some of the otherwise supportive press seem to be unwilling to join the chorus echoing the distortions and misrepresentations that the Obama administration spreads about its job-creation "success."

If you look at the AP link, you'll se that the authors also called into question many of the cornerstone arguments of the DNC and Obama himself.

Not that this is anything that hasn't been seen before:

Are some of the "rats" waiting until the last minute to "jump ship" and begin a realignment that anticipates changes in November?

We may be seeing more and more of this "reporting".

The Liberal networks might be getting "the word" from advertisers that Romney is the guy.

They will turn on Obama with "selective" reporting to keep their own revenues flowing.

Obama could be on the grill.

Someone in the White House or DNC must've really pissed-off CNN and the AP.

This is not normal. Similar coverage from Sharyl Attkison at CBS earned her a vulgar WH/DoJ tongue lashing, reassignment, and cost her her bosses' support.

I was curious about those numbers I have heard repeated over and over. Thanks for the link. On the bright side though, your wonderful link did share this bit...

Still, a historical analysis of job growth percentages shows that Obama still fares better than some recent presidents. As of July, Obama is averaging +0.84% annual job growth in his term. That places him ahead of Bush, who saw +.051% growth in his first term and -0.84% in his second term. Obama is also tracking better than George H.W. Bush, who presided over +0.64% growth during his one term in the White House.

so maybe there is hope yet.

maybe it's just CNN attempting to regain any semblance of actual reporting instead of cheerleading. is it possible they reviewed their coverage over the last 20 years and made a choice?

Being a SWCC fan, then you must realize that most of your neighbors vote for the candidate, not the party.

The "single-lever" and "straight party" voters began to die off in the late '80s.
Good riddance.

Still, it's hard not to notice when former supporters become the loudest critics.

There was an interesting story last week about CNN's fight for survival and credibility as a behind-the-scenes scuffle goes on for top billing at parent Time-Warner.

Could be that someone's trying to set a new standard?

Does that suggest that Republicans are less likely to be liars than Democrats? I think the petting zoo is just corrupt to its core. Time to euthanize the donkey and elephant, and get better animals. Why not a party of Mongooses (Mongeese?)? Those things take down cobras!

In a room full of people who are drooling over every word you say, and who follow your directives with super-complex internal justification engines... these conventions are just cesspools of half-truths and outright fabrications. Most of the droolers at the conventions will then take those fabrications back to their homelands, and spew them across the populace. It's a beautiful machine to be so ashamed of.

^quoting for absolute truth!

I don't get it, how fans of the GOP can actually buy that Mitt is any different?

Hello, you hated him 4 years ago, tore him a new one at the start of the year but he's your boy now AND better than Barry? The only ways different is that he isn't black and believes in the god of a different cult, but 'sides that ole Mittens is the same as Obams.

The sad part is that many of these pro-Mitt posters have plenty of intelligent posts on other topics...

D or R, they are only what? Liars for the same folks who are only looking to usurp all our liberty and put us under the yoke of tyranny. So unless you have at least 2 commas in your checking account balance right now, you're going under the yoke with th rest of us. REALLY.

Now, others are reporting on the DNC's duplicity on rejecting corporate support for the "people's convention."

While publicly pledging to refuse corporate money, the official host committee for this week’s Democratic National Convention has quietly and aggressively courted corporate donors — using a sister nonprofit that has been offering firms special “sponsorship opportunities” if they ponied up $1 million or more to help cover the costs of the event.
...
But campaign spending watchdogs say that the operations of New American City (the foundation accepts donations from lobbyists as well as corporations) reveal some of the Democrats’ claims to be hollow.

“It’s amazing how creative Democrats can be finding loopholes around their own rules,” said Bill Allison of the Sunlight Foundation, a group that has been tracking the role that corporations and lobbyists have played at both party’s conventions.
,,,
Despite the organizers’ promise to hold “the most transparent convention” in history and initial pledge to release the names of all donors in real time, the convention organizers now say they won’t release a complete list of the donors to either group until they are required to do under federal election law — next month, long after the convention is over.

DNC courts corporate donors for convention help

So, now MSN and NBC have joined the fray!

Who's next to continue exposing the deceit that rules "progressive" politics?

Yes.

Consistently adding chickenfeed jobs like part time, low pay, etc. etc.

And how many more per week file for unemployment and other "assistance"?
Assistance that is garbage compared to the wages from a few years ago.

It's a vote losing deal.

Romney will win with 300+ electoral votes.

People have had it up to *_HERE_* with the constant BeeEss.

Maybe he can be a GM spokesman after November?

I see that several posters are claiming that both Romney and Obama are (whatever bad name you want to use) without any difference betweeen them. That someone can state in public that they can't see any difference between Romney or Obama, indicates an inability to make distinctions roughly equal to confusing bricks and butterflies, and a willingness to admit that failing where others would probably remain quiet.

But, let us assume for this discussion, that there is someone on this planet unable to distinguish those two worthies. Doesn't that bring you to reject Obama, or box "A," simply on the basis of his record, not just over the last four years, but his entire life? Box "A" provides these results, Box "B" provides these. What choice is there but to give "B" a try?

Calling "A" and "B" the same is a great idea if the real difference between the two makes your box look bad. But it's not honest.

Funny thing, we've added more to the welfare and "disability" rolls than all the jobs Obama's "created" in 45 months!

Since when did a 4-year job get "graded" on 28 month's performance?
Since when did any job performance get graded on improvement over the lowest point, instead of overall performance?
How do you call the lowest growth post-recovery ever measured a "success?"
How is the lowest ever-measured workforce employment total a success?

Dream on.

I totally agree with this. Its all about money and ratings and hedging their bets in case Romney gets the call. The "media" could care less about objective reporting, and if Romney does get elected they wont wait a heartbeat to pounce on him either.

"zactly:
Really(?) NO differences? Hmmmm let's see:

One of these candidates surrounded himself with marxists, outright communists,. and bomb throwing Left wing Radicals advocating the overthrow of our capitalist; constitutional republic.
One didn't.
One bragged he was a member of a "drug culture" "choom" gang.
The other is a Mormon church leader.
Ones' actions show him to appear to be embarrassed to represent the United States.
One fulfilled 40 campaign promises exactly as promised while Governor.
One was voted in as a Republican Governor to Run a hugely democratic state and had a mixture of both parties represented in his appointments.
One shows narcissitic qualities(Really? an autobiography before age 35? (IIRC?) )
One has created and run businesses in the the private sector; One has focused on "community activism".
One promised the Russian President: "more flexibility after the next election".

The other has yet to openly compromise himself over an open mic...

Personally: I'll take"magic underwear"; over:"GOD-DAMN AMERICA!!!!!!"( black liberation theology).
One has killed an American citizen living abroad without a trial.(merely a "finding")
As "BIG BIRD" used to sing:"
"One of these things is NOT like the other One of these things just doesn't belong"::puz:

Anybody but Obama..
