Democratic Women Governors May Disappear After 2012 Elections

WASHINGTON -- There are currently two Democratic female governors in the entire nation. After November, there may be zero. While four Republican female governors are currently in office, the only two female Democrats -- Washington's Christine Gregoire and North Carolina's Bev Perdue -- are both stepping down after 2012.

"We might as well turn the clock back 50 years, because that's the last time we were without a sitting woman governor who supported reproductive choices and options, and that's what we're looking at again," said Sam Bennett, president and CEO and of the Women's Campaign Fund.

It is madness to think that government must be chosen through a method of percentages and that a certain number of female Governors from a specific political party must exist in order to maintain an efficient and effective government.

This is not news, this is madness!

I can speak for the failure of Bev Perdue. She is just awful as governor of NC. She campaigned on a platform of a strong education, but one year into office she raided the education lottery funds to use for the state's day-to-day budget, which was considered a slap in the face of the people. She also tried to have a chief executive officer appointed to circumvent the superintendent of the department of public instruction, so she could control the schools. Her campaign is being investigated now for fraud. She is not running because she would not be re-elected because of her TERRIBLE policies. She is seen as a complete and utter liar by the educated population. She is hated by Republicans and Democrats alike.

Not on a national level. She's a "beloved endangered species".
Seriously, let that stick in your craw for a second.

In addressing the failure of this Governor you have pointed to the only reason to elect a woman Governor, Democrat or otherwise, and that reason should always be their ability to perform the job they've been elected to do, and their sex has nothing to do with the matter.

If feminism is to have any validity at all it must be because feminism stands for equality under the law regardless of sex, not that the sex of the person dictates the function of the job.

Welcome to "equality politics" and "pink quotas". Welcome to feminism. No place for sane people...

In 2011, Rome's city council was CANCELED by the regional administrative court because there were no women in it. Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno was forced to appoint 2 women. I almost couldn't believe it.

But, apparently, we live in a misogynistic society. Huh?

Do they honestly sit there and worry about how men are going to make them live in the 5th century?

Do they think that is all men ever think about is making women barefoot and pregnant?

Seirously is that all they sit there and think all damn day long?

I got news for them Ladies men have other things we think about, and that doesn't involve the bedroom.

Meh.

Endangered species? those who listen to hyperbole, and hang on it's every word.

Isn't that so wonderful about living in a Republic, the citizens in NC could careless about what people from other states think about our governor. Her own campaign basically admitted she couldn't get a vote from ANYONE if she ran again. All of the newspapers endorsed her opponent and she got Andy Griffith to endorse her and she won. In NC the people traditionally vote who the papers endorse. She also screwed her voting base of teachers by cutting budgets and pulling some really questionable (snip) by trying to take the power of the elected superintendent of schools and place it in a lackey's hands. Luckily, she was sued. She received the Democrat bump due to the presidential election also, but that is not working this time. Look at her, she looks like the Joker due to her plastic surgery she elected to have almost as soon as she was in office. Ha, a hero in government...that is a joke.

Seriously, I could care less about what race, religion or gender the state executive is as long as they are effective or at least willing to be effective, many informed North Carolinians feel the same. When both state house and senate were conservative/Republican after the 2010 election (nearly unprecedented in NC, you gotta go back years..), she vetoed 14 bills, which was a precedent. She acted like a brat when she couldn't get her way. Just an awful executive, female, male or all points in-between.

Feminism? Like from the way back times? Do you have blockbusters videos laying around that you need to return after work too?

Sure, let's pretend there isn't an insidious agenda underway today under the guise of feminism that seeks to divide and conquer. Let's instead pretend that feminism is a relic of days gone by and go to Netflix and order a nice comedy and pat ourselves on the back for being so modern.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Now lets all run around counting how many minorities and women we have in gubment to prove that we are living in a society that doesn't judge people by the color of their skin anymore.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

I guess all those bleeding heart liberal male governors are incapable of caring about so called "women's issues".
