"Unfortunately, that's how our world is skewed towards today. To confuse, confound and convince. Politicians, lawyers, bankers and conmen do it all the time - using word play/semantics to succeed, presuming, preening with haughtiness to browbeat the simple minded, to leave them behind inorder to rob them blind."
Just want to add that these leaders love nothing more than watching us spin our wheels arguing over who is right. They help us along in our endeavors. They divide us along religious lines, politics, race, sex, education, economics, and the list goes on and on!
"The 'smart' ones are truly dumber than the rest. We, as a species, are truly dumb if we are to face the challenges of life ALONE, for one may good at one or a few issues, but is totally an idiot over others. Therefore, we humanity must cut the ego and false pride, and work Together as one, complementing each other's diverse talents for the overall good of society, nation and Earth."
Through many eyes we can see as one. Great post! Sending out a good vibe!edit on 15-6-2012 by TRGreer because: Typo

That's actually very insightful.... watch your back, the two party system don't like it when you get too close in undertanding them!

A bat and ball cost a dollar and ten cents. The bat costs a dollar more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?
The vast majority of people respond quickly and confidently, insisting the ball costs ten cents. This answer is both obvious and wrong. (The correct answer is five cents for the ball and a dollar and five cents for the bat.)

Seems about right, although I wouldn't say smart people are dumber than stupid people.
So, what they are saying is that smart people tend to create shortcuts to get things done that make assumptions that aren't always based on facts and real world probabilities.
You could go so far as to say all "knowledge" is based on assumptions rather than facts. Math, science, and language itself is built on assumptions and presuppositions.
Cool articles thanks for sharing.
Researchers have discovered that the brain saves energy by predicting what it is likely to see. According to scientists in the Department of Psychology at the University of Glasgow in collaboration with the Max-Planck Institute for Brain Research, Frankfurt, Germany, the visual cortex does not simply react to visual stimuli but proactively predicts what it is likely to see in any given context - for example, within familiar environments such as your house or office.

Well from personal experience (which is sad to admit) I have answered some simple questions wrong, like on these new-age online job applications wrong because I have over analyze some trick questions. Very upsetting. But I think "smart people" over analyze simple questions while others can get to the point. Or maybe its just a different type of thought process for others. Very interesting study though.
