I'm not homosexual.

But I hate the words father and dad to no end.

I'd love to see them excommunicated from popular breeder culture all together.

Curious as to why? Could you elaborate?

As a Dad - I think this is a ridiculous move.
Why offend the majority (normal mum/dad parent groups) to please the minority (same sex couples)

Well if that offends you, are you really ready to be a parent of a child. They need someone a bit more emotionally stable and able to deal with the fact that other people are dads, than get upset over this fact to the point they cannot accept it in a leaflet.

Just an idea - If it offends you that greatly GET ANOTHER LEAFLET OR BOOK. Write your own? Just don't expect everything to change to suit your own insecurities.

Obviously this isn't about trying to avoid offending people. Many fathers will be offended.

Rather it is a move by the forces of political correctness to re-engineer society.

I guess it's not just happening in the US then. My guess is that it's NWO happening everywhere. Or they took their cue from the US. Or something like that.

I reckon this will be more a case of the PC brigade wanting to remove it rather than gay couples.

To be honest, i can't understand the fuss anyway. Don't many gay couples have one member that is more the "male" role anyway? If the cap fits and all that.

CX.

I can remember a time when suddenly "waiter" was no longer appropriate, it was "Waiting person" so as not to offend women. Oh waiting person we'd like some more water please. I guess they finally figured out how ridiculous that really was, so now it's "server" because no one really want to go around saying "Waiting person".
Hi, I'm your waiting person today, would you like to start out with a coctail?"

I feel that i should just state again for those who cant read:

ONE PERSON COMPLAINED

And one person does not speak for the entire homosexual community.

Very true, and it is clear that heterosexuals and homosexuals alike are just as baffled by this decision.
The more pertinent question, is why did the govt change it on the back of one complaint?
To me that means 2 things
1 - they are lying and there were considerably more complaints
2 - they are insane and value not upsetting 1 person more than the rest of the country...

Either way something is not right here...

I agree that something is not right and when i read this article all i could think of was "Wait, aren't the Americans currently having a huff and a puff about homosexuals?"

Waste of money to change it, although the source is the Daily Mail and they'll say anything controversial to sell a paper.

It seems to have been reported in several other locations also

Deadline News

Telegraph

From the deadline news article - this is another (slightly unrelated but shows the extent this PC "crap" has taken hold)

Each year £6 million of public cash goes towards employees who ensure political correctness in public bodies.
The NHS alone has 42 such staff members, who work to ensure “diversity and equality”.
Councils, police forces and the Scottish Government all have staff holding similar roles.
Last month it was revealed that paramedics and nurses are being sent on courses to teach them how to ask questions in a politically correct manner.
The classes are designed to allow them to ask for personal information without upsetting minority groups, such as gypsies and homosexuals.

What is wrong with people not being offended by "normal" phrases. This has to stop somewhere.

Using the term "dad" in a pamphlet about parenting is NOT offensive, and if you find it so then it should just be tough. What next, the "mum" goes too in case 2 gay men who adopt find it offensive (or the PC brigade do on their behalf)

Where does it end?
Vegetarians demanding all signs advertising meat products be taken down because they find it offensive?

Honestly - the need to remove truly offensive things, like racist words, sexist slurs etc, I get. That is fine. The need to remove what simply is not offensive but pandering to weak minded petty people is not.
Our society is on a slippery slope and these things, once in motion, are hard to undo.

Before people start complaining in regard to being offended they may want to consider the massive insult to God.
Man and a woman not man and man.
Nope i am not homophobic but i would consider the following very carefully.

God made us the way we are for a purpose. A purpose that is quickly slowing down due to the way the world is being played at the moment.
Didnt God intend us to go forth and fill the Earth? To share?

We are being slowed down through various illnesses that lead to the reproductive nature of us humans to slowly dwindle.
All hope is not lost though because due to the process of selection............the best will get through. Selection i mean those playing God and creating life in other ways, those with their names not in the book so to speak.
We need to really consider what it is we are allowing daily and try to focus on who we are.

As for homosexuals, i dont mind them, but what i will say is that a planet of homosexuals wont last more than 100years through the lack of reproductive ability, unless those dabbling with things they shouldnt conjure up more lives.
It wasnt intended, God forbids it.
I am not one to judge, but hey to go and also throw # in Gods face with gay marriage?????? I think its a massive piss take.
Thats just my opinion based on what is written in Holy scriptures, i am prety certain that it goes the same for all religions.

If you feel that my opinion has offended you. I am sorry that was not my intention. Im simply stating a fact. 100yrs max.

Your entire post is ignorant and offensive. So sick of hearing this religious drivel on ATS. Love is love, i personally think the world could so with more love because there's enough hate in it.

What is ignorant about anything i have said?
Is it not fact that after 100 years there wont be anyone left on a planet if all humans on that planet were homosexual or gay? Whats the problem with any of that? I dont agree that IVF should be used on couples of the same sex.

You sit calling me ignorant yet i am prety sure the child will bear the brunt of the ridicule at school as kids seem to bully other children for the smallest of things. Now tell me i am speaking rubbish. Remember also i aint homophobic before u start stirring up that old chest nut.

Am i not allowed my opinion nor freedom of speech? Yet you start insulting me? Read what i have posted before u start the slaver.

You assume that Homosexuality is something that can be caught and spread like a disease - As if everyone in the world is going to turn gay because there somehow multiplying. Ignorant.

If parents choose to raise their children with ignorant points of view, not explaining to them that homosexuality is a valid and permitted form of love in society then yes, the child will obviously get bullied. Just like the children who come from homes where racial slur's are they norm, they take them out into world with them and also bully minorities.

Start insulting you? I simply stated that your post was ignorant and offensive. Am i not entitled to freedom of speech? Leave your god and your religious beliefs at home ATS is about denying ignorance.

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to an opinion....

So if (and it's a huge "if" in my books) God made us, don't forget he made gay people too.
So why do so-called Christians bash them so much?

Never thought i'd find myself quoting Kurt Hummel, the gay lad off of Glee, (hey, my kids watch it, therefore so do i) but as he said, "God makes me gay and then makes His followers go around saying it's a choice, as if I'd choose to be mocked every day of my life."

How messed up does that make your God? Kind of a nasty bit of work if you ask me.

Gay people are not out to get you, they understand that it makes a man and a woman to make a baby, why would anyone in that situation get offended by a term they rightfully grew up with?

Gays aren't out to get anyone, no; but I've realised that heterosexuality certainly has no monopoly, where idiocy is concerned.

I'm sure a lot of people have heard the old saw about how Fabian Socialists came up with the idea, decades ago, to use homosexuals as unwitting footsoldiers, in said Socialists' crusade to completely redesign human society. It's things like this, which make that theory sound less like pure, schizophrenic paranoia, and make me start to wonder whether or not said people, might have been right.

That is insane. Probably the only reason why the word "Dad," exists as a term for fatherhood, is simply because it's one of the easiest sounds that a baby can make (and therefore one of the earliest) when it is learning to talk.

Some emotional self-control is called for, here; as well as some basic logic.

This thread is not about whether its ok to be gay or bisexual. Where people want to stick there wully or fist with other members of the same sex is there own business in the privacy of there own environment. However removing the word Dad/Father from public health information leaflets is an insult to fathers everywhere and cannot be allowed to stand. This PC garbage the NWO Scottish gov is trying to spoon feed us is paramount to revolution if you ask me! How dare they insult Scottish fathers in such a callous manner, makes me ashamed to be a Scot.

Im just saying that its wrong, but people shouldnt be placing the blame wholly on gay/bisexual people, one person does not speak for the rest of those who happen to share the same sexual orientation

One person from the Gay community got the word removed. That person carried a lot of weight to get that decision made. Do you think we are that stupid to think just one person got it removed? The whole movement is suspect when stuff like this happens.

Your self-righteous indignation that we are even discussing this from the point of view that the Gay community is to blame for the word removal is laughable at best. The Gay community is not creating a firestorm to put the word back... I would say that the silence we hear from the Gay community on this issue makes the agenda clear.

You calling people names doesn't make the agenda any more hidden than you want it to be. It is out in the open and the message is clear.

I've had way too many people in my life trying to be my dad, and many of them were pretty abusive to me.

Plus some other things that are way too personal for me to talk about happened.

LOL, there are many more good Dad's than the bad Dad's you have run into. Anyway, what do we call those people that raise children? Mom is ok, but Dad is not? This is one insane world we are living in!

I guess the message is, homosexuals know what's best for children and the word Dad is bad!
