Russia’s latest civil airliner carrying 44 passengers has disappeared from the radars during a demonstrative flight in the Indonesian capital. Hijacking and a high-altitude crash into a mountain have not been ruled out.

­The aircraft has not returned to the airport at the scheduled time following takeoff. By that time, the fuel should have been totally spent.

Shortly before going off the radar, the crew of the aircraft had asked for permission to descend, Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency quotes an Indonesian aviation official as saying.

It got permission to descend from an altitude of 10,000 feet down to 6,000, moving downwards in a rightward direction. According to the official, there is a 6,200 foot-high mountain in the area where the plane went missing.

it states a mountain at 6,200ft
doing the maths i would say a mountain crash

but can anything be found within the 44 onboard? probably not

There were 44 people onboard, including 8 Russians and 36 citizens from other countries – mostly representatives from major airline companies.

apparently they are all from seperate countries and flight companies probably checking out the merchandise on whether they should buy a few for their airlines

Helicopters have returned and found nothing - you would think if it had gone into the Mountain they'd have spotted the wreckage.

A Blogger at the scene??? Apparently was supposed to have been on the flight and described how the plane was given maintenance check twice and all was well ?????

RT just updated, nothing new as of yet.
Just my opinion but for a planned demo flight of 30 minutes, fuel on board would have been probably not full capacity. It has been gone over four hours now, so maybe the chances are whatever has happened to it, it is not in the air anymore.
Any views?

just this "announcement" of a new russian yet reminds me of US's reaction to the NKorean space rocket (and it blowing up) as well as India's recent launch...

wouldn't put petty commercial past them!

esp since may 20 is but 10 days away... but, maybe it was just a crash into a mountain (how?)
