According to PC dogma, only white people can be racist. Only white people need to walk on egg shells in fear of offending anyone who isn't white. Only white people are not allowed to show nationalism.

If the Hispanic team had starting chanting 'Mexico' would their coach (white or Hispanic) have told the Hispanic students to stop?

Clearly, no.

It didn't happen that way so while you can speculate on the matter you can't prove what would have happened one way or the other.

Would the officials of the Hispanic school have said they were disappointed and apologized for their Hispanic students chanting 'Mexico'.

Clearly, again, No.

Again didn't happen that way so it is again unknowable.

Only whites can be racist apparently. Only whites must walk on egg shells and only whites are not allowed to show nationalism.

Only in your mind. There are plenty of racist people out there on any side of it. If it had happened the other way in exactly the same manner I would be voicing the same things I have expressed thus far. In this case a few students weren't displaying their national pride because there was no national pride at stake. The only way this event could be about nationalism is if the opposing team started the game being viewed as something other than American to those that started the chant.

Between what you have posted here .. and what you have posted on This ATS thread , I can see that you are a troll and that speaking to you is useless. I will refrain from any more discussions with you. I think your time here will be coming to an end in 3 ...2 ....1 anyways. Bu-bye.

ahhhhh ... then perhaps you should listen.

and you know this is BS.

and you know what I think when people say 'and you know'.

The USA for centuries was mainly W.A.S.P.

But it isn't now. That's just it. If the students had been chanting something like 'mexico sucks' or 'speak english' or something in spanish that was insulting .. you know ... THEN I'd say you have a good case for saying it's racist. But they were just chanting 'USA' ... and the other team was an American team ... and it's just one coach saying it was a racist thing and no one else there did .... logical me says there isn't enough evidence to convict the team of 'racism' and I think the coach was over the top on this.

Have you watched any of the Republican debates?

HELL NO! getreadyalready ... you wanna' make me sick?

Here is my take on how to Fix Immigration. I wrote it over 2 years ago, but it is still the best plan on the table.

Great. I'll take a look. I look forward to reading it.

Chanting ''USA'' has got nothing to do with racism no matter who you are chanting it to.

I swear people need to learn the definition of a word before giving their opinion on it.

What is wrong with us as a country?

What say you?

Where do us Non-Americans begin?

Iraq maybe? Or perhaps Afghanistan?

Hmmmmmm there are MANY things wrong with your country.

But it's mainly your politicians..

How about this... their team won, they can chant whatever the hell they want?

It always amazes me how much everyone gets their little panties in a bunch over these games in our country. Boo hoo they chant things, boo hoo they used steroids, boo freakin hoo because this game really matters.

I mean.. really?

And by the way.. if i take this as anything... i don't take it as necessarily racist... i take it as being more like "blowback" to all the PC crap being shoved down everyone's throats.

But that just my 2.....

"Hispanic" is a race.

Making fun of someone for being Hispanic is racism.

Chanting USA-USA after a game between two US schools is meaningless unless there is some other contributing factor, such as a white school vs. a Hispanic school, then the context becomes clear and the reason for the chant becomes clear.

It is what it is, I'm not one of the ones criticizing them for chanting it, they are welcome to chant it, but it is stupid to pretend they mean it in some patriotic manner. They meant it to be intentionally racist, and so it was.

That's chant was friggen funny!

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and that completely makes sense.

The crowd was making a point. Not racist, but pointing out the complete loss of control of the immigration situation by the federal government.

Whatever happened to the whole "I Am an American"? I thought that was a celebration of our multiculturalism in the face of foreign attack.

The radcal Left has taken advantage far too long of the people's naivete with the takeover of the Southwest, and the spreading of Sharia Law. It's time to stand up for what is right in America, and that is our liberty and freedom and yes, even our Defense.

I think that sentiment is great! In fact, I think we should mandate it. I think we should make English our official language, and I think we should treat people crossing the border illegally as enemy combatants and assume their intentions are nefarious to the sovereignty of our nation, and I think we should press charges for treason against anyone blatantly flying a foreign flag above a US flag, especially on any public grounds like a school!

We don't go and kidnap slaves and force them here any more. Anyone who is here, is here voluntarily and as such, they should seek to meld with the customs of the United States of America.

By all means, we should be chanting, "We are Americans!" AND, we should make sure that means something! We should be making sure America has a unique identity of its own. It is a primarily Christian nation, but with religious tolerance for all religions and atheisms. It is an English speaking nation with a vocabulary of words that indoctrinate many other languages and makes for a very rich and descriptive language! It is a nation of innovation, hard work, and Capitalism! It is NOT a nanny-state where people are rewarded for subpar performance or encouraged to NOT work, or NOT farm, or NOT take chances and gambles on new ideas.

I'm with you 100%, and none of what I said above is meant with any type of sarcasm, I am 100% serious about every word.

Still, the incident from the OP was not intended as this. It was intended to be racist, and so it was.

Every kid should wear shirts that display an American flag or U.S.A. or red, white and blue colors for the rest of the year. This is even more proof the US is on a downward slope. It's hard enough as it is to be patriotic to such a country, and even when you overlook the stupidity of America and try to be proud ya get told ya's WRONG for chanting the name of that country? A poster said it best in another thread: the children ARE being prepped for a police state. Do they not sing the Pledge of Allegiance before sporting events? The parents need to make a stand, we all need to take a stand and put an end to this bull. When will enough be enough?

Being hispanic doesn't exclude you from being an american, Seabag got THAT part right. But come on, you have a predominately white team, and a predominately hispanic team. You all know EXACTLY what as intended with that chant, to play on the notion that because the other team is mostly hispanic, they aren't real americans. Don't deny this until you guys read your own posts ok, because you've said this crap yourselves, in your well practiced veiled way.

Fans on the predominately Hispanic Edison team were chanting Alamo “whites” rather than Alamo Heights. Where is the charge of racism about those comments?

If that was the type of thing being said by fans of the Edison (Hispanic) team then I think Alamo Heights fans chanting “USA” may have been a polite way to jab back at them without being overtly racist like the Edison fans were! Instead of replying in kind with a racially charged chant, such as ‘Edison Wetbacks’ or something derogatory, they instead simply chanted USA!

Think about it!

To call people racists for chanting USA is utter nonsense. There is no such thing as a right to not be offended. People need to learn how to grow a thick skin and not let things like this offend them. Gorram, America has become a nation of whiners.

People need to learn that freedom of speech is not for one specific group of people, and to learn that even unfortunate or unpopular opinions can be expressed, rather than taking the attitude of "I have more right to express my opinion than you, and free speech only applies to me so STFU" crapload.

Sigh, come on people, stop letting things like this offend you. You're the ones who're acting silly when you yourselves all in a lather over it. You're only revealing your own true colors when you get angry over something else that somebody else has done that has no personal connection to you, or haven't done anything to you.

Chanting USA may be nationalistic nonsense, but it doesn't do any real harm. It's not like a group of people sacrificing your children to Satan, after all.

You're offended, so what? Be offended and stop telling other people to STFU just because you're offended. There is no such thing as the right to not be offended.

Nobody is telling you not to.

But, will you intentionally chant it directly at someone, that doesn't look as "american" as you, after defeating that person in some rivalry, and with the intention of drawing attention to their "less american" look or heritage than yours?

Because, you are free to chant whatever you want, but if you do it with racist intentions, it will be taken in a racist context, and it will be..... racist.
But, no one is stopping you from doing it, whether your intentions are good or bad, you are still free to do it, but please don't do it with racist intentions, and then backtrack and pretend it was just good ol' fashioned patriotism. That is dishonest.
