Joseph Kony has been involved in these types of atrocities for a long time now and not just in Uganda. He is by far the biggest monster on the planet and has been getting away with it for far too long.

Saying this whole thing is a Psy-Op is not only disingenuous, it is actually rather disturbing. I suggest you actually look into Joseph Kony and the LRA.

If you do not like the Invisible Children thing then fine but to simply dismiss Kony is wrong on so many levels.

There are so many of these Kony's on this planet. How on earth can this man be singled out for being the biggest monster when we had Cheney just one example of the pot calling the kettle black. No this is a ploy that have nothing to do with giving any care to children, something else is at play here.

It appears Kony is a replacement bogeyman for Bin Laden.

To many high-flying people of questionable characters are involved in this now for my liking.

I have to agree with you. Joseph Kony and the LRA are complete terrors and plauges on the world especially for western Africa. You can NOT simply dismiss the Joseph Kony situation at all. That would be ignorant and downright wrong. I for one do not believe whatsoever this thing is a psyop or a conspiracy as too how bad of a man he is and the atrocities being commited. That said, I do not believe Invisible Children is ingenuious about the situation or their new video. Sure their organiztion wants to help and provide awareness. But IMO, the majority of their reasons behind this new video and backing is surrounded around money and promotion of their organization, more so than it is the Kony situation itself. They will go down as the organization who brought to light this terrible man to many of the younger people on facebook who had no idea of this, however their intentions are not ingenious IMO and the west does not have a valid solution.

Hi. Just throwing this out there or adding something else to the thread since I'm a history geek:

Does anybody know the story of Boudicca? The whole thing isn't really important right now, so I'll skip it and get straight to the point: Basically, the Roman legions couldn't adapt to fighting in the forests of Britain. That's where Boudicca's forces hammered them. She used guerrilla tactics, and it worked fabulously -- despite being grossly outnumbered, outgunned, and without a chance in hell. All she had was a home field advantage, and she exploited the hell out of it.

So, Joseph Kony has been at this for, what, three decades? And, no less, indoctrinating children in fear, killing their parents, and raising them to be his own personal army. They know every inch of that landscape, and we don't. And if any of our post WWII skirmishes have taught us anything, it's that we lack the ability to adapt to anything that isn't large, sweeping battlefield-type warfare. (And that we've forgotten everything The Art of War has ever taught us, but that's another story.)

This will be Boudicca's war all over again, but we'll be the Romans. We will be walking straight into the slaughter. And we're supposed to be Tweeting our politicians for that privilege?

Don't get me wrong. This evil man must be stopped, but there has to be a smarter way to do it -- there always is.

The Posters are simple to explain, they are both created by Obey. Same brand designed it, hence the similarities. He's in the video.

You're right it is wrong for one to be against this.
If you're against this then you must be FOR the abuse of children, right?

Hmm.. Kinda reminds me of SOPA/PIPA debate of child pornography on a whole new and much larger level.
The OP is right, it smells like a psy-op.

That's an excellent point. Thumbs up.

It seems they are currently trying to answer the questions that have been raised.

Thank you for reading this and doing further research about Invisible Children and Kony 2012. In response to this explosion of interest about the Kony 2012 film, there have been hundreds of thousands of comments in support of the arrest of Joseph Kony and the work of Invisible Children. However, there have also been a few pieces written that are putting out false or mis-leading information about these efforts. This statement is our official response to some of these articles and is a source for accurate information about Invisible Children’s mission, financials and approach to stopping LRA violence. Invisible Children’s mission is to stop LRA violence and support the war affected communities in Central Africa. These are the three ways we achieve that mission. Each is essential: 1) Document and make the world aware of the LRA. This includes making documentary films and touring these films around the world so that they are seen for free by millions of people. 2) Channeling the energy and awareness from informed viewers of IC films into large scale advocacy campaigns that have mobilized the international community to stop the LRA and protect civilians. 3) Operate programs on the ground in the LRA-affected areas to provide protection, rehabilitation and development assistance.

The following link to their site contains their responses to:
Financials
Charity Navigator Rating
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
The strategy to secure Kony arrest
Ugandan government human rights record
Stopping Kony
Why work with the UPDF if the LRA is no longer in northern Uganda
Programs on the Ground
The photo of the founders with the guns

They also go into how they propose to change the area, and make the lives of the people there better.

Calling for the death or arrest of one person on Youtube and creating a viral campaign to find him is a dangerous weapon. It's a WMD.

What are we going to fill the power void with? A corrupt government? Al-Qaeda backed Islamist terrorists from Nigeria and Sudan?

I don't understand how any of what you said diminishes this fact: that Joseph Kony is forcing thousands of children into being child soldiers and murdering thousands of people.

There is no power void that Kony fills. He isn't a dictator or leader of any nation. He's just a psychopath raging through Africa with his murder machine, powered by enslaved children.

You forgot about Predator Drones and carpet bombing, but god forbid we use those and hurt those poor children.

It may have been said before, but that whole area needs a lot done to improve the quality of life there.
There are other "bad guys" besides Kony.
IMO there needs to be work done to change armies, perception (the hatred of other groups) etc etc.
Getting rid of Kony is a good thing, and yes we are not being told the full story. But there's needs to be a clear agenda that's realistic and obtainable. As to what that is, I'm not qualified to say.

Predator Drones wouldn't be effective in jungles. Carpet Bombing isn't good in rocky terrain.

And yeah, there's the element of not wanting to kill children. But if troops get deployed there in the first place...Well, that's going to be a tricky situation all around. It's a complicated mess, and I don't like how it sounds one bit.

First off, I want to thank you OP for nipping this in the bud before the bandwagoners posted a thread opposite to this on ATS where heart strings are tugged like the point of the documentary.

To everyone else:

Look at him America, he is your new super villain like Hollywood raised you to hate. The next Osama we need to take out just so we can sleep safely. Even though there are 100's of others or more in the world, maybe even committing atrocities far worse than this and we focus only on one at a time, not all at once. Where attention goes, energy flows. It's funny how we ferociously go after one man who leaves a gap wide enough to be filled by many more after he is gone, and yet we don't put much effort into stopping mass killing by more than one person; as in Rwanda, Palestine, and Nanking. We take the easy jobs where you only have to take out a small group and then get your cheers and coming back as heroes with the glorious nationalism right after.

And a word for those of you who get your feed of information past your frontal lobe and directly to your amygdala:

Please exercise the logical part of your brain more and lay off the alcohol a little it tends to affect your amygdala. Who knows maybe then will you look into things more before you leap, because honestly what good does it do you to leap before thinking things out?

i think this kony 2012 is rediculous, please leave my govt alone, i want them to focus on defending our country, this is the work of the UNITED NATIONS, LOBBY WITH THEM TO TAKE HIM OUT, MY COUNTRY IS NOT THE WORLDS HAND OF GOD OR THE WORLDS JUSTICE SYSTEM.

show me in the constitution where our country is the worlds personal mercenary

there may be alot of people supporting this, but lets see how many people think our govt should not be responsible for this cause, and keeping our nose out of everything in this world

I don't quite understand all the hatred for this organization, I can understand asking questions, but when I researched I found that their organization was legit and everything was in order...

Am I getting this right, that most everyone hasn't done their homework on this thread?

I mean how do you stop a warlord? with a harsher tone? People in Uganda vouch for these folks, and the differences they're making and continue to want to make! It's infuriating to see posters here questioning with very little research or homework done. Go to the source...

These guys have to show you their BBB rating? their Charity Score? go to the source... The Ugandan People, the people involved.

You have posters so Anti Government that it seems you guys have lost the simple message of help, and they're actual accomplishments.

It's not like any poster here had the balls to do anything about this. What do you think stops a warlord like him, he doesn't have any morals or quarrels to rape and murder using children? Jeez, force must be met with force...

Yes this can be misconstrued as warmongering, but tell that to the People being killed by this guy.

I can't believe how many flags and stars go for words spoken with such over-mounting evidence proving otherwise
