The reasons for the sudden decline of the Paradise Parrot remain speculative. Possibilities include overgrazing, land clearing, changed fire regimes, hunting by bird collectors, and predation by introduced mammals like cats. It became rare towards the end of the 19th century and was thought extinct by 1915. A series of searches turned up a few more individuals over the next decade, but the last confirmed sighting was on 14 September 1927.

Emphasis mine. 4/5 cite human causes, not pet cats :/

Rights are a human concept of which cats do not understand.

Let’s just end the argument here
You people are downright selfish, you don’t care what damage you cause as long as you can keep your cat.

You clearly cant even look after them properly i.e. keep them safe and stop them from hurting others, which is a basic principle in caring for any animal.

Take responsibility for your actions and your pets.

What argument?

"Can I kill your pets because I find them to be an indirect nuisance?"

No, no you may not. I am surprised you would ask.

For the record I do not own a cat. I am somewhat allergic. I do however have common sense.

The average cat kills 25 wild animals a year.

You count how many cats are in Australia, I don't think its possible.

Feral cats are just predators, and predator hunting is a "sport". I for one endorse shooting cats that are on one's private property, or public, same with dogs. Many good reasons I could think of for shooting feral animals.

But seriously pets are a no-no. Unprovoked killing of a pet is WRONG.

No I’m simply sick of ignorant cat owners thinking their happiness is more important than the fragile ecosystem.
They are plain selfish and I have just as much right to kill their cat as their cat has to kill anything.

If you're not a troll then you've got major psychological issues that need sorting.

Try meditation -it may give you a different perspective on life.

A giant dose of grow up might also help.

I agree with TheCommentator he has a valid point, you call your self animal lovers but you let your cats roam and kill other animals.

We call them domestic cats, whats domestic about them when they roam and kill other wild animals.

Doesn't domestic mean tame and distinguished from the wild?

Im fairly sure that cat owners are the only ones with psychological issues, and they certianly need to grow up and stop being so hypocritical.

Exactly, everything they say is hugely hypocritical. If they loved and understood animals they would agree with me, except they are too selfish to see past their own desires; which are in no way more important then protecting native animals and their environment.

They arent domesticated
and people should be locked up for animal abuse because 1. they cant keep them from hurting themsleves and 2. they cant keep them from hurting others.
Which with any other species would be enough reason for animal rights groups to take your animals away.
Yet cats are the only pet in the world which gets such leway and they are the ones that cause the most damage.

I will never understand people and I hope these people get a clue soon.
