I do not think there is much to be worried over at all. This was taken from Wikipedia’s "Solar Flare" Page.

"The frequency of occurrence of solar flares varies, from several per day when the Sun is particularly "active" to less than one every week when the Sun is "quiet", following the 11-year cycle (the solar cycle). Large flares are less frequent than smaller ones."

If the sun goes a couple weeks without flares, then I guess it would be a little cause for concern. Besides, if a HUGE flare ever did happen, it would only take a few minutes to do whatever damage it would do. No sense in worrying about it too much, even if you were to know it was coming there wouldn't be much anything we could do about it. Though I suppose thanks for the heads up.

I am asking my self how important is the angle of impact .

WARNING: Geomagnetic K-index of 4 expected Valid From: 2012 Feb 14 2145 UTC Valid To: 2012 Feb 15 0300 UTC Warning Condition: Onset Potential Impacts: Area of impact primarily poleward of 65 degrees Geomagnetic Latitude. Aurora may be visible at high latitudes such as Canada and Alaska.

There is no absence, a strong one hit us just last week, or the week before, I witnessed the aurora myself, and that's in the north of England.

It's about the absence of the solar flares for a given period of time and what could be the effect.

Some eminent solar physicists believe that in fact the Sun may be headed into a long period of inactivity in which no sunspots appear and no or very few flares occur, perhaps lasting many decades – like the so-called Maunder Minimum seen in the 17th and 18th centuries, which was accompanied by a "mini Ice Age" of very cold winters.
So before the beginning of a long period of inactivity we could have a big one and after that a mini Ice Age.But the cold weather already looks like Mini Ice Age,so we could have the both phenomena in the same time.Just as I thought.

(Interesting... Look at the logo of Lockheed Martin in that page. The logo says: "We never forget who we're working for", and has a strange symbol that looks like part of a satanic Pentagram...
)
edit on 14-2-2012 by GLontra because: (no reason given)

A pentagram becomes Satanic when it is rotated 33 degrees from the way it is normally seen with one point up.

Its been suggested that LM is connected to child porn rings, illuminati, etc.
It does make you wonder why they are looking out for Solar Flare activities.
Part of Sun worship?

But anyway Alex Jones had a guest talk about Solar Flares last week.
Warning us that we should get prepared for "the big one(s)"

What absence in solar flares? We had a big CME M class a few weeks ago, and if I recall a small X class too.
Maybe something has just changed radically in the activity of the Sun,we will see this in the coming days perhaps months.

Russian scientists have been saying for some time now that the sun is going to go into an extended lull, and we're going to need to stock up on fur coats for the next 20 or 30 years.
But the resources of the planet are already fading and without sun's rays we cannot have energy to survive.

Great find OP!

I can't believe most posters until now in this thread had not realized how weird it really is!

Pay attention people. Go to the link that OP provided:

www.lmsal.com...

Now, read the blue chart.

In the blue chart, someone wrote "WTF? WTF = Where're the Flares? of course"

This is very weird!

www.lmsal.com... This link shows more in depth chart. Class "B, C, M, & X"
obviously each is a grade up, look how many a DAY and what levels we have been pounded with..

Now if you go back to the 'WTF' marking on the chart...and look directly under that to the 'earth' graph

and you see the Earth which is Vibrating at a Very High Frequency now, and we are emitting light
And you will also see that graph on the Earth, is peaking...but the Upper graph has no Flares.

Hence the 'WTF'. Why is the graph of Earth showing an event, when the Sun is NOT?

Don't you read. This happens every 11 years. Let's have a little history lesson shall we.
I have a feeling that history just changed, nothing is like it use to be in terms of natural phenomena, beginning with the small things and ending with the big ones.

While we are all freezing, the world is heating up from AGW. Yep, the ideal scenario, the scientific world is both right and wrong.
I don't understand ,what is AGW?I think they don't know how to compare scientific data these days as scientific data can contradict itself.

No, the Big One isn't coming any time soon.
I hope you are right, but there is an increasing concern from both scientific and nonscientific community.

Heres a thought, why not send them an email and ask them about the "WTF" statement michael.levay@lmco.com

It's my understanding that if we get hit directly by a large flare, we would lose comunications, damage to electronics and disruptions to planes and satillites. If so, I say bring it on, I miss the good old days before we had computers and mobile phones.

Means that they do not understand , that is why that exclamation, especially since large earthquakes have occurred recently in places where they haven't for a long time.

I think we must imagine the scale of devastation from such an event before we wish it to happen,I don't know haw we can survive without modern infrastructure.

to my mind---- they are saying that the old metrics of Sun activity will be less reliable in predicting Sun activity in the present and into an indefinite future...
As in my mind,I think all those satellites will be out dated very soon.

what should i do run for the hills or hide in my basement
We shouldn't panic if something is going to happen,we must stay calm and rational. This is the only way we can survive.

Idk if this has to do with the sun but I was reading this thread and now the power went out for as long as I can see where I live in hb, ca. I know I the sun shifting causes electrical problems
No one will tell us the cause, we should investigate ourselves.

K-indices of 5 or greater indicate storm-level geomagnetic activity around earth.

Thank you for the vids,I also think we should be prepared but I always ask my self ,how! There is no way to hide from a strong solar flare, there is no way to protect from what is coming from outer space.
