This one isn't alphabetical, and of newer date.....

Denmark 52%
USA 3%

Source and date? .. and remind me again how this makes any difference to how awesome/horrible Chavez is?

Simply it doesn't and seems offtopic to me..

-SAP-

It is very off topic .. the entire thread seems bent on promoting a communist dictator and demonizing the united states with statistics that have no relevancy to the topic .. unless the point is to try to make the united states look like the fat friend who's there only to make the other friend look better

agreed...many Americans are disillusioned to what we are supposed to be. Crapitalistic, Communistic, heaven forbid. Somewhere in the middle? Most of the disillusioned I dare say fit the demographic of unemployed. There is a surprise. "I cant get a job therefore my country and Israel are to blame"....Yeah maybe but its way way deeper than that and that is another thread.

It is no stretch of imagination to see that Hugo did these ACTS of charity to Piss off American Administration at a time when Foreign Affairs were on the dinner plate....And they still are.And America grows hungrier

I cannot know what his intentions are, but I look at his record with his own people and he has continued along that path which is taking care of the poor and middle class first.

And he is also shutting down free press left right and center. I believe last year the last free voice of the people was muzzled.

www.time.com...

That article shows how he and his party have systematically muzzled the free press in his country. Its kind of hard for people to speak out against his policies when they have no voice, isnt it?

I dont think you realize how serious the banning of a free press is. People cannot speak out, other political parties have no voice. True communism in effect. I have no doubt they are now a one party government.

Yes allegations of voter fraud has been going on since he was first elected. I am fully aware that dictators often hold dummie elections, we do here in the US too (contrary to what most believe). Is he a dictator? I don't know maybe he is maybe he isn't. He obviously has a lot of enemies, especially in the high rung of society and history has shown that with enough funding you can find "professionals" to make an argument that the sky is red, if that is your agenda. Money rules the world, and truth is usually the first victim if it is in the way.

Let me say one thing however, if it is true that he is rigging votes and shutting down free press then he is no better than those that he demonizes.

Seriously OP you have slanted this so far that it's nearly vertical.

250 homeless shelters is not representative of 99% of Americans. Also, what's with the "99%" reference anyway? Are you making an OWS statement? If so, no wonder you'll take an obvious "RT" propaganda piece about "Chavez" being a good guy helping some poor people [Which is admirable on the surface but his motivations are Dubious at best] while ignoring all the skeletons in his closet and run with it.

In my opinion this is a showcase of the US's double standards of presenting themselves as the forefront of democracy and freedom, while at the same time funding coups against democratically elected governments around the world.

I'm sorry but here again, What does a foreign dictator making some politically motivated donations have to do with the way Chavez treats his own people? Oh yeah, I forget. If somebody writes a check/cheque then that means they are the good guys now..

Right?

By that logic the US are damned near Saints...

What what?

Chavez taking over millions of business put a lot of people in the poor house then of course the dude was on his death bed but sought medical attention outside of his homeland.

Didn't know Oliver Stone made threads on ATS.

Funny enough in his own country they are having brownouts because of his nationalization of the energy grid there. Inflation is rampant, any media that disagrees with Chavez is shut down and anyone running against his party is intimidated / threatened / arrested.

If his way is so much better than Americas, then why does Chavez need to go to Cuba to get treatment for his cancer?

The fuel oil donations aren't free, as people in Venezuela are paying for it. I am sure they would be tickled pink to find out instead of helping out at home he is helping out the great enemy of Venezuela. The program is nothing new and is solely done for propoganda purposes and no other, as we are seeing in the Rarely Truthful (RT) article.

Like the cancer he has, he is the cancer of Venezuela. Hopefully that cancer will force him to retire early so the people of venezuela can have their country back and we can stop seeing the propoganda bs RT pushes in this area.

This has got to be one of the most biased, twisted threads of the year.

Actually he's a socialist, not a communist. But he probably roles with the reds.

But he's religious. Very religious. (At least as far as I've ben told, PLEASE correct me if I am wrong).

This is the right way to fight economic wars. Let him do it. It's a welcome from Iranian-styled death chants and stupidity.

The generosity of Hugo Chavez in helping people in this country have much needed heat should not be met with insulting him. You don't see American government doing to much. Of course there is some grandstanding reasons behind it I am sure, but why not. He is really trying to show Americans that the demonizing of his polices may be wrong. Before Chavez was elected Venezuela was heavily exploited by the US. After elected, Chavez set about freeing Venezuela from US control of their resources. The result was an unsuccessful US staged coup attempt in 92. Unsuccessful because the people of Venezuela poured into the streets in support of Chavez. Why is it that so many people will form an opinion about someone or something when their only information is what the US government or mainstream media tell them. All the insults in this thread about Chavez and do you know why you don't like him really? Or are you just parroting what you have heard. I would also suggest you don't start giving facts why if you have not studied it yourself. The US is so keen in getting Chavez out of the way they take to pure lies that people mindlessly swallow. Look into Chavez before you spout off you ignorance.

Maybe he is using a page from the US book.

After all, the US has become the real pros for painting itself as being the great benevolent, lover of personal freedoms, protector of human rights and freedoms. The home of free speech, independent thought, free will, rights to life, liberty and the prusuits of happiness.

Sounds good. Too bad it all stops when the TSA or a Code Enforcement agent decides they are having a bad day or are just bored.
