You obviously don't get it. Capitalism is the force that made America Free and the greatest nation on earth, the reason why people from communist nations flee to it, in hope for a better life.

Occupy is trying to dismantle capitalism. Yes those evil capitalists with their better way of life. Maybe their is something to it?

There have been occupy protests in finland. I think they started back end of last year. Maybe a handful of protesters numbering from hunderds to thousands. I dont know how the protests went there though....

SAN FRANCISCO — Mayor Jean Quan vowed Wednesday to quickly reform the scandal-plagued Oakland Police Department after a frustrated judge threatened a federal takeover if it fails to quickly make good on changes agreed to nine years ago.

As to the capitalism is the route of all evil - what we have today isn't capitalism, it is a marriage between government and big corporate world.

I've felt that the change to occupying abandoned buildings was a good move, but the building chosen here was way too central. Trying to set up what has been described as a major center near City Hall; it's no real surprise that that was not going to be tolerated.

Occupy's tactics are still far too centralised. You need to spread out, and focus on foreclosed buildings in the suburbs and outlying areas, where the police are much less likely to view them as a target. I understand that the movement wants high profile targets, but you can't realistically hope to take those until you have the numbers, and you don't have them yet.

Go and read about Vietnam; and even the CIA's own work in Nicaragua. Any guerilla force first needs the support of the people before it can do anything else. You need to get a sufficient number of buildings without police heat in the process, and give those to the homeless, so that you have a big enough local presence that the lies that the authorities try to tell about you, won't stick. Occupy needs to become an organisation with a proven, widely held reputation of assisting the homeless and disadvantaged. You don't have that yet; and the authorities can exploit the fact that you don't, with people who don't know better.

The goal needs to be the moral high ground; not seeking confrontations with the police. You might win those long term, in terms of public opinion; but you won't win them on a per-engagement basis, and they will also seriously compromise the organisation's long term stamina, if its' most valuable people are being thrown in jail.
