5.6 Just Hit Oklahoma..........Felt in Joplin, Mo

Lots of little aftershocks that give us sudden pause to go, oh no is this another one or am I too sensitive? After a moderate quake out here in California, my ears perk up at the slightest sounds, like car doors or house settling. And I wonder, is that another jolt?
I have found that a hanging chandelier or lantern suspended from the ceiling is a good sanity check to my nerves about whether there is another aftershock. Look at the lantern and if it is swinging, even a little, then yah, you just had another little aftershock. They will move at the slightest ground motion. Usually though you find it was just your imagination or something else and the hanging lamp is still as can be.

Just had another 3.0........

As I said earlier........The size of these "swarm" quakes compared to Arkansas's are larger.............

Just have this feeling that we will see another 5.0+ tonight.........

IN the New Madrid earthquake in the 1811-1813s they had earthquakes in that region almost non stop in the year 1813. I am curious if this pattern is leading up to a New Madrid type event? They had three main earthquakes with hunderds of aftershocks/earthquakes.

I was asleep when the terrible earthquake hit and did not notice. My wife said a few dishes rattled. I live ~50 miles from the epicenter. Some quake!

and the facts you presented are very true...the grounds here are different and liquification will be the primary problem. The Mississippi River will expand, for example, in a megaquake in the New Madrid fault line, resulting in a 'sea' in the middle of the country...

and a megaquake over here will literally split the country into two.

I was laying on my bed, reading ATS about the end of the world on my cell phone when it sounded like my house was coming apart. For half a second I thought, "This is it! It's all true!" Then realized what it was. I live south of Norman. I've lived in Oklahoma my whole life.. never even seen a tornado, but have experienced two earthquakes this year. Pretty rare and strange. There are fault lines all across OK, but they rarely move, and are never as big as a 5.6. That's all I really know.

Sure, it wasn't big, but it was felt from Dallas to Kansas City!!

As far as I know, no EQ has ever been felt in Joplin, MO.

The oddest thing to me is that a relatively minor EQ can cause minor damage in one place, but still be felt 100's of miles away? I know there is something about the waveform and strata and bedrock, but it just doesn't seem possible. My Mom said there was a sound like a roar, and then it shook her table and file cabinets. My brother said it felt like he was standing on liquid instead of sold ground. We're talking 300 miles away from the epicenter. How can that be?

I heard the roar as well............I rushed outside as it was happening to see what the "roar" was......

Another earthquake just rocked Joplin 8:45pm .........

It was way stronger than the one on saturday....................

I'm in Oklahoma City. We just had another big 4+ aftershock about 2 minutes ago. Why all these quakes here recently? That is the question.

I think the 4.7 we just had wasn't an aftershock because that was the same magnitude of the foreshock friday night leading up to the mainshock saturday night that was the record setting 5.6. I think this new earthquake was another foreshock and then we'll be hit with another big one.

The 4.7 and 5.6 were revalued at 5.3 and 6.0.............

That's funny cause as soon as I felt the one saturday night I said aloud that it was a 6.0. I felt the ground literally moving and a roar outside when I walked out into my backyard.

Surely this will lead to something. Either It'll be something big or stop all together.

We can't just keep having 4.4+ quakes every other day, that came out of no where, forever.

Nothing felt in North County St Louis Missouri.
I live 1 mile from the Missouri River and have felt the Quitman Arkansas swarms.

Not feeling these is weird. Makes me wonder what kind of plates I am on.

Felt it in Bartlesville. 4.7 a few moments ago near Prague, OK.

Hello, I'm new to ATS. Daily observer for several years watching from afar of intense debates.
Lately where I'm from here in the Mid-West (Wichita, Kansas) there were a mass siting of chemtrails.
A bit after the weather has been gloomy and doomy and it has been raining non-stop.

And as of today I am few to feel the earthquakes to have happen. The first one 11/05/1990
And another tonight 11/07/1990 8:45 PM roughly.

All I am saying is something is fishy and this shouldn't be happening.
