Communist? hardly.
Look at their demands, you can now vote on them.
coupmedia.org...
I saw a few things on the list I would get behind, notably repeal of the Patriot Act, there are however, a number of items that are socialist in nature and I would never support. It is definitely a mixed bag of demands. They want to forigive student loans----socialist----taxpayers would pick up the tab---what are these people thinking?
Equal rights for women? We already have equal rights. More leftist nonsense. Get rid of Capital punishement, more leftist stuff, they advocate letting brutal murderers live but......
Demanding the US ratify ALL other humans rights agreement... well that is the UN One World Govt if I ever saw it... again these people are making demands for One WOrld Govt....so again I was right about this protest.
Other demands seem to include changing how the courts work. I am deeply suspicious of that as well, because it probably has the INternational Criminal World Court in the Hague in mind, and thats more UN World Govt.
Interestingly, Obama steered the baillout money toward student loans, so I'm inclined to think that some of these protesters agree with the socialist agenda of Obama.

Anarchist communism (also known as anarcho-communism and occasionally as free communism) is a theory of anarchism which advocates the abolition of the state, markets, money, private property, and capitalism in favor of common ownership of the means of production,[1][2] direct democracy and a horizontal network of voluntary associations and workers' councils with production and consumption based on the guiding principle: "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need".[3][4]
Some forms of anarchist communism such as insurrectionary anarchism are strongly influenced by egoism and radical individualism, believing anarcho-communism is the best social system for the realization of individual freedom.[5][6][7][8] Most anarcho-communists view anarcho-communism as a way of reconciling the opposition between the individual and society.
The distributed organizing process that led up to the #OccupyWallStreet event has produced a campaign with minimal leadership and no clear demands. However, it is far too early to assess this event. Participants (between 5000 and 500, depending on when you last counted) say they will continue to occupy the area until there is real change. Will their numbers grow or decline? Small solidarity events are also popping up in other cities and other countries. But where are the unions?

Okay to get back to what I was saying earlier about the SLP and NUP.I can't directly link you to the pdf since it is a secure file, but I will give you the link where it can be found and how to access it.If you look to the left after linking you will see a pdf link,go there...Here is the link source:..(See source below)
The objectives, control, methods of organization, recruitment, indoctrination, and operation of subversive organizations are frequently concealed, and there does not appear to be any disposition upon the part of such organizations to make such information readily or publicly available.
A number of these organizations have international ties. Some are actually controlled by foreign Communist powers which have,by word and deed expressed unremitting hostility to our society.
The ideology of Marx and Lenin, to which several of them appear to adhere, teaches that there is to be no compromise with existing non-Communist governments, except only those "practical compromises"(to borrow the language of Lenin) which are necessary to accelerate the quarrels and conflicts which lead to the complete disintegration of society and the ultimate seizure of power by socialist revolutionaries.
At an early age he had lost all belief in the prevailing forms of religion and had thought out a creed for himself, which he considered an entirely new and original discovery. The chief points in this philosophy were that man's character is made not by him but for him, that it has been formed by circumstances over which he had no control, that he is not a proper subject either of praise or blame. These principles lead up to the practical conclusion that the great secret in the right formation of man's character is to place him under the proper influences–physical, moral and social–from his earliest years. The principles of the irresponsibility of man and of the effect of early influences form the key to Owen's whole system of education and social amelioration. They are embodied in his first work, A New View of Society, or Essays on the Principle of the Formation of the Human Character, the first of four essays appearing in 1813. Owen's new views theoretically belong to a very old system of philosophy, and his originality is to be found only in his benevolent application of them.
His proposals for the treatment of poverty were based on these principles. Communities of about twelve hundred persons each should be settled on quantities of land from 1000 to 1500 acres (4 to 6 km²), all living in one large building in the form of a square, with public kitchen and mess-rooms. Each family should have its own private apartments and the entire care of the children till the age of three, after which they should be brought up by the community; their parents would have access to them at meals and all other proper times.
The sources that are sited are the beginning of linking the SLP with the Unions that exist today and to show that the Socialist Party has been around for some time. This thread is a work in progress, any info that is being posted is attributed to the Socialist movements in America since the dawning of the" Working Men's Party of The United States" established in 1876,and later in 1877 changed it's name to the "Socialist Labor Party of America,"which is also the first Socialist political Party in the United States and has operated continuously since that date, although its current existence is tenuous.

Thats all well and good but your information and sources are 30-40 years old. The world has changed since the days of disco. Now, capitalism is out of our control and in the hands of psychopathic tyrants. So to bring up manifestos and sources from 1978 is not very good evidence of this evil communist plot to save you from illegal banking practices that came to a head a week agoedit on 29-9-2011 by doctornamtab because: (no reason given)

Some of these "socialists" and "communists" remind me of this:

Anarchist Communism
This is just another way to funnel money from the public.
I would hate to trust anyone who would be making "decisions"
Same as all forms of robbing from the poor and the rich get richer.
People that subscribe to these wild theories are not fooling everybody
"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need".....
YES, especially the administrators and "wealth-handlers"
Wheeew.........wild ideas.

That's exactly right! The Unions have been a tool of the communist party since it's inception. I am not saying all unions are backed by the communist party or socialist party, but mostly that is where unions evolved from. It is important for people to know the history and background of unions. The fisted hand is almost always a sign of communism. Also Bill Ayers was involved with the SDS, and today a number of Congress Kritters are also members of DSA(Democratic SOCIALISTS of America). Anyone thinking this is mere coincidence needs to do more research. Since the 44 POTUS got in there has been a huge upswing of socialism and communism from Van Jones and Anita Dunn to SEIU.
Labor unions and liberal activist groups plan to throw their weight behind the "Occupy Wall Street" protest in New York City that has now lasted 13 straight days, according to Crain's New York.
A diverse coalition of people have pledged to occupy Wall Street until something is done about corporate greed and the financial system's undemocratic influence on the U.S. government.
