I have come to the conclusion that this is a deliberate act to destroy our countries.

We have a lot of posters even in this thread with great ideas about how to fix all these problems.

I have great ideas to fix these problems.

And if I can easily see 10 ways to fix each problem, which are simple, cheap and benefit everyone...yet we constantly go the opposite direction.

It just can't be incompetence, surely. Which is why I think it is deliberate. 100% agree with the OP.

The Carbon Tax is a scam pure and simple. There will be ZERO incentive for companies to invest in cleaner energy. Why would they when they can just charge us more? The idea of competition is a nice fantasy, but the fact is that only a few big companies have a strangle hold on our energy and all of our politicians are in the pockets of those same companies.

Mining is the only thing keeping our country afloat and now we are going to tax them more. I have no problem with taxing them, but it will mean less investment and eventually the revenue drying up.

Yeah, we are basically selling all of our natural resources off-shore, just like the 3rd world countries bound to impossible debts by the IMF etc.

A few things we need to do:
- Disband the Reserve Bank of Australia and free ourselves from the monetary system.
- Stop exporting so much. Produce goods in Australia. Create jobs for Australians).
- Invest in clean, green energy. We have so much sun in this country its criminal not to harness it. Every building should have solar panels feeding into the grid, and why not build a few massive solar power stations in the desert?
- Start treating refugees as people rather than livestock. Stop trying to send them overseas for "processing".

You have some brilliant ideas there.
I especially love the idea of damming the rivers to the north and irrigating the interior.
Some other ideas I have heard about greening the red centre are deepening Lake Eyre and building a canal to flood it permanently, breaking the bedrock to allow deeper root systems for larger trees, and mountain building. This is probably one of the more crazier ideas but if you look in the news there is a country in Europe that is currently doing this. We have the land we just have to be smart with it.

Great post you said it all. The carbon tax is a socialist scam disguised as pro environment, anyway since when did our government care about the environment?
Yes it is being collapsed on purpose and the only way to save this country is through a revolution and I'm pretty sure it would have to be violent since our government ignores anything we say. But I don't see that happening, so long as Mr and Mrs Smith are comfortable having their maccas and a reality television show to watch.

That's right who do you get angry at and why? And what's the point?

I am angry at myself for being to easily swayed in the wrong direction and even angrier at the laziness of people who don't care either way.

It matters not for the majority believe the less they question the system and the harder they work to maintain it then they have the right to act with no thought process.

In a perfect world we would work hard for ourselves and abolish these faceless criminals.

A Capitlist takeover when we are being taxed to death with green taxes, green programs, etc, etc?... I would have to say it is a SOCIALIST takeover... True capitalists would not use green taxes, and green programs to strangle to death capitalism...

Capitalism for a few is socialism, not true capitalism or a free market.

Special K is making a comeback... some say he will challenge Gillard for the leadership soon... opinion polls (for what they are worth) suggest he has a much better chance of leading Labour to an election win than Gillard.
I effin hate Abbott and Gillard.. they are both snakes.

Bring back Kev.. i dont agree with all Labour's policies, but at least Kev is a likable bloke, not a backstabbing, bitching, whining, petty, pathetic excuse for a human like Gillard and Abbott.

If we have to have a puppet I'd rather have a likable puppet than those other two skanks.

The carbon tax is a marketing disaster! It is however, a good idea. In that it encourages sustainability. Thats what its all about. I do not believe in global warming or man made climate change, but I will pay a carbon tax. I want to pay more for water, electricity and petrol. They're all too cheap. Wasteful lifestyles. If the carbon tax was a sustainability tax, it would be so much easier. And I would move to NZ if Tony Abbot ever got into power. Little JOhnny was bad enough but Abbott is a total fruitloop.

Then came the 'election', and once again installed herself without the true votes of the people as independents and the Greens propped her up.
This government has driven the country into a deficit of over 200 billion dollars on wasted taxpayer funded programs. Compared with just a few years ago when we were in surplus.
Never before has Australia had such an incompetent government, with its WORST primeminister in history.
Gillard is borrowing approx 100 million per day from China when we are supposed to be in a mining boom reaping the profits from China?

At this time there is global uncertainty with debt crises and so on. BUT it gets better, Julia has decided WE need to pay the WORLDS LARGEST CARBON TAX. Why must we pay when China produces most of the pollution?
But wait theres more, there will also be a Mining tax slapped onto the mining giants who produce much of our wealth.
Australia's economy is being compared to other countries that are creating a carbon tax or already have one, most notably New Zealand. Has anyone seen how inflated prices have now become over there? Why do you think so many Kiwis are coming here now?

Just a little food for thought, Julia says she will scrap the flood levy (another tax) sometime next year I think. However, I would just like to point out that no government in the history of Australia has ever taken back a tax what makes you think ##SNIP## will?

If something is not done soon to stop this, Australia WILL collapse by next year. We have the highest house prices in the world, pay more for food than most other western nations, and an increasingly ageing population which will put more strain on already stretched facilities.
It surprises me that we aren't seeing riots about this, or real marches on parliament house. When will the people wake up and realise this government is #ing Australia to death.

The people are a wake up and the fact she wasn't voted in shows it. Yet through political manipulation and legal manipulation she has managed to get what she wants. She's pushing for the carbon tax to keep the Greens happy as they have the mosts seats in parliment and have made a deal to pass whatever she wants passed through parliment if she pushed the carboon tax. She is reversing 100 years of freedoms and advantages of the Australian people all so she can get a job with the U.N when she's finaly out and the Welsh imigrant doesn't care how much money it costs Australia to make sure she gets that job.

Also I believe that she has put the potential power of females back 100 years. Our first female priminister and look what she has done. Never in the history of our nation has a leader seemed so hell bend on destroying us. I think it will be a long time before a female has that position again which is a real shame.

Yes but it all the deals were done behind closed doors and the nation still to this day doesn't have a full picture of what went on. The bad outcomes of those deals are starting to show. The fact the labor government weren't transparant at the time shows they weren't acting in the best interest of our country.

You're an industrialist/corporatist fool. Do you SERIOUSLY think anything you've said is accurate??

You think social safety nets are a PROBLEM while taxes on pollutive mega-corporations are out of the question??? YOU'VE GOT YOUR PRIORITIES ALL MIXED UP.

The problem is NOT what you've laid out, the problem is a WORLDWIDE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN spurred by unregulated market gambling on Wall St. The problem is IMBALANCED BUDGETS. You can wage your stupid propaganda war saying "it's all those social programs!!! GRRR!!!" but you're dead-wrong. It's about BALANCING THE BUDGET, which means NOT SPENDING MORE THAN YOU MAKE. Quit being so thick to what's really going on. Carbon taxes aren't gonna bankrupt you... there are FAR LARGER issues, do your homework before you go off on 2-minutes hate of anything environmentally conscious.

You do your homework. The economic down turn which destroyed your economy and left thousands homeless in the U.S registered as no more than a itch to scratch for the average Aussie. The dynamics of our country a far different to yours but you'll mouth off like that all western countries are a carbon copy of the U.S and it's tools such as yourself which is the cause of the the worlds perception that Americans are ignorent and uneducated which isn't the case but people like you make it appear that way with your unresearched mouth shoot.

You mean he's doing what the UN tells him to do and got a prize for it. These prizes are propaganda my friend. The reason that Australia is not in terrible debt has nothing to do with the current government. The current government is the reason we have any debt at all.

Australia is considered by every country on earth to have been the best managed country during the GFC

Id like to see where you get this information from, was it the Australian government?

Australia does not elect their Prime minister - it is not an elected, nor democratic position.

Although this is true, i would beg to differ, most people have no idea who their local rep is, they vote for the party and the leader of that party.

The carbon tax is seen as one of the best ways of stopping cheap imports and restoring manufacturing into the country by blocking imports from countries that do not support the global carbon tax and trading scheme to be implemented in 2014

This is the first ive heard of this angle of the carbon tax. Can you please elaborate with some kind of details and/or links etc describe it. If that was true and realistic i might even change my point of voice re this tax. Which is very anti carbon tax at this time.

The opposition party regularly changes leaders - its a normal part of Australian politics
The opposition said they would never ever introduce a GST and then introduced the biggest, most inflationary tax in Australian history.

The GST replaced another tax which in many cases was upto 32% with a tax that was 10%. The GST has also never been increased and is unlikely to be. What i didn't like about it was the tax on services which was never previously taxed in this way and re-occurring. I didnt like or vote for this one either.

The opposition forced all australians to purchase health insurance which is nothing but a private health industry tax.

I didnt buy this so not everybody was forced to buy it. As far as i was aware this was only a certain earning group, 80K plus wasnt it?

I would think somebody on this salary could afford it.

The OP is a right wing schill.

This is not a right or left wing thing my friend, many of us have just had enough of the government full stop. Left and Right is a trick being played on you and everybody else who thinks we have a democracy rather than a puppet show with a red puppet and a blue puppet both glove on the same puppet master.

Hello, firstly I knew that we didn't elect our primeminister directly that is done by the parties. However, going into an election we usually know who will become the leader, the first time we didn't know with Julia, and the second time was because the greens and independents propped her up to form government.
Secondly, this government is collapsing Australia by selling off all our resources.
Thirdly, while I agree taxing mining giants is a good idea ie. higher prices equals more wealth. Also realise this is our last industry we have left since most of our farms are now sold (mostly to China)
Fourth, I agree with your claim on the carbon tax and I think the best Australia can do for the future is become an energy superpower (we have plenty of sun)
Fifth, I don't live in Melbourne so I don't know the situation down there but in Queensland its in full blown recession especially on the Gold Coast. Also the housing market is only being propped up by high intake of immigration which creates demand.

Not sure what your point is regarding a coalition between greens and labor, like nationals and liberals, however coalitions and cooperation between parties us what makes a democracy better, having to rely on a super majority is worse for democratic values - hope you can understand that.
Australia is not collapsing because we are selling resources, we are actually booming because we sell our resources, we always have been a primary producer.
Most of our farms are not sold to China - incredibly ridiculous thing to say.

Here's one small example. the EPC scheme is a medicare scheme in which people with cronic illness say cancer or something get free dental treatment. Labor has been trying to kill the scheme since 2007 ( but illigal boat people get free dental) Their attempt has always been blocked in parliment until now. See the Greens have the most seats and they've approved labors wish to cancel the scheme so the scheme ends in December.

The labor party who was originaly against the carbon tax has been pushing for the carbon tax because the Greens want it. The behind closed doors deals between the Greens and labor were deals of "you support us and we'll support you" That's a coalition between the Greens and Labor.

I always read articles that says Australia is part of the western nations. Isn't Australia located in Asia? Its nearest neighbor is Indonesia which is very much part of the eastern nations. For the bolded phrase, the better term is "pay for more food than most other Caucasian nations."

Simple with A bit of research. 1, Australia is a developed wealthy country with a capitalist idiology. It's a western culture.

2. Australia is a continent. You can't be one continent and at the same time part of another ( Asian continent). North America is close to Europe and south America. Does that mean that North America is a European or south American continent?

There have been things said here at ats about what can be done, ideas thrown around that mostly require support bases therefore requiring us to unify ourselves.

So, I say to you that while we can whinge or start a political party or give any other fantastic idea a go it seems our best bet is communication and the ability to pass on knowledge for example the 'what they don't want you to know thread on the home page now, or the idea of passing around or conveniently leaving flash sticks in certain places to spark interest in what is going on.

If we continue to let propaganda and fear mongering ruin our lives there is no point whinging about anything.
