In my opinion the meaning of life is 'Experience'.

I have a great education from one of the top ten universities. I have spent a lot of years considering both sides of the problem.

Science bases it's knowledge on found facts. Religion bases it's faith on a belief in the word of God. They are two dissimilar groups: facts vs. faith.

I believe in the science 100%. I do not believe that God is so weak that He has to take billions of years. Therefore, the only logical conclusion that melds both the aged universe and the creation is that the universe was created instantly, but appearing aged. I'm ok with that. I can make furniture that looks aged. If I can do that, I'm sure God can do it with His furniture...etc.

Any other belief in God would be a God who is not omnipotent. A God who is not omnipotent, if He is the One True God, is not God. By definition, God must be omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, as a minimum.

Therefore, an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God created the Universe instantly, but appearing aged.

Questions?

Your basing your belief also on the “WORD” of men you don’t know, never met, and on stories you have read…either in books , online or watched on tv.

Go back to page 16 I spit a little info..and yes its tiny "off the brain" ..think for once type of stuff.

For real, it is like a bad dream that I can't wake up from. For most it is the 'world' to us it is Maya(illusion). But the veil(illusion) is thinning. Won't be long now before the floodgates are thrown open and the vault of the heavens descend to earth. Maybe this is what 2012 is about, every so often the cycle ends and for a brief time a gateway or portal opens, my opinion anyway.

Very interesting.

I don't usually listen to much rap music; but I liked them. I understand the connection between what I believe and what they said in there rap. Coincidentally the lyrics actually relate to a lot more of my personal belief, beliefs I didn't share on the forum.

If God as the Absolute informs creation from a domain of light at the apex of a "tangled hierarchy", for God as the first and last, there is no time.

We are children of light life and love divine in the illusion or delusion of time, but already possess an inheritance of eternal life "because it pleased the father to share his kingdom". We are either reborn of the spirit from above, alive to God as spirit and truth or we are already dead, to the self that perishes, but, if we willingly die to self and lose our life, we keep it, and are reborn to God, and made alive again (joyfully and with enthusiasm).

We are not a "thing" in time either, but part of a process of transformation, and resurrection, of life meeting life in eternity, through an eternal wellspring that 'wells up from within', as our fount of inspiration (breath of life, breath of God).

As an aside, a "monastic idealism" (consciousness is primary) interpretation of quantum paradox, also places the choosing self, in the absence of judgement (forgiveness?) outside of time and space as a non-local phenomenon, believe it or not. In other words we possess not just a classical mind but also a quantum holographic mind.

It is not unscientific, the rational basis for belief in or gnosis of a Supreme Being.

Why remain in the darkness of ignorance for no reason at all, except a contemptuos bias prior to investigation.

believe what you want, but we are the creators...there is a God, i have no doubt in this...

we have cosmic families and these bodies did not evolve from apes, they are vessels to house our true selves while we experience this reality in these dimensions

Truth is Truth and shall be known

Polls are always interesting, but the results not so surprising. I believe that "evolution" and "creationism" are both right in some form.

The universe was created by thought. What people seem to get tangled up on is the meaning of creation through thought. They seem to fancy the idea of worshipping a "seperate entity" who is their creator. I think in this sense they are actually referring to the aliens/UFOs. They somehow modified an indigenous lifeform here (chimps are 98.4% identical to humans) to allow for greater perception of consciousness.

However, I don't believe that one alien species created man. I think many universal scientists were brought in to accomplish this task, and we still see their craft occasionally in our skies reminding us of our most likely creators. However this still begs the question of who created the aliens?

I think the aliens have left us a clue when they say: One love. One God. One creator.

That is their way of telling us that God is indivisible. Everything is God because God is everything. I think that's why they find it odd that we quarrel so much and trash our planet. It's kind of like hitting yourself and trashing your own room. Makes no sense from their standpoint.

That is the whole deal with "eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge." It's a trade-off. Ditch your ego-driven interests for what these alien beings are able to accomplish (I suspect they are the dark matter). Trade your ego for greater knowledge of who you are. You are the creator and the creator is you. This is how you introduce the idea of spirits and reincarnation. Spirits can also be imagined as pure thought forms. Only the noblest of spirits would have access to the smallest of dimensions which perhaps give the grandest views and abilities to manipulate / perceive all there is. How do I know this and why would this be?

Because God would want to experience itself within its creation on many levels. Certainly a cat has a different viewpoint in life than a human. Similarly I'm sure the Grey Aliens are unique themselves sounding like short white creepy rude Vulcans (emotionless). All consciousness is an extention of the creator. There is only life, no death. This certainly can help explain things like NDE's and past lives as well.

The problem with humanity IMO, is we get fixated on one course and we are scared to change. Given western science's inability to comprehend the UFO phenomenon, I would say there is a lot of room for religion and science to "makeup" (nasty divorce following the middle ages lol) if they would only choose to do so. There is a lot of evidence IMO showing that other forms of consciousness "leaked" out some information on our origins. The story of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again is identical to what Buddhists believe (reincarnation). Hinduism also very similar. It's not a coincidence IMHO.

Humanity could someday realize that the power of thought (on a mass conscious scale) is far more powerful than we currently realize. Someday we might look back and wondered why we argued about stuff like capitalism vs socialism! Because we won't care because our lives might be 100x cooler with access to more energy and greater conscious percpetion.

I believe in both evolution and creationism. I think we have some great evidence for both being true.

Imagine a religion whose founder claimed to be a scientist, its holy book a treatise with a supposedly scientific message, and its devotees people who think of themselves as learned.

This religion has penetrated into almost every civilization, every school of thought and every ideology; its adherents number in the hundreds of millions. In every field of specialization - history, sociology, philosophy, psychology, biology, etc. - it is a basic dogma, the "light that illuminates truth." Actually, every one of you is acquainted with the religion of Darwinism. You encounter it in your daily life, read its propaganda in newspapers, and see its influence on television. This religion infiltrates your life at every moment; indeed, it is part of your life. Perhaps some of you, knowingly or otherwise, have come under the direct influence of this religion. It is the "religion of Darwinism."

BUT...

You may say to yourselves, "Darwinism is not a religion, it is a scientific theory!" But there are many people in the world who are devoted to it. Some believe that evolution is a scientifically proven fact, and the world lies under the influence of this so called scientific position.

This ideology is founded upon a series of errors.

The theory of evolution, with its scripture, its devotees, its alleged answers and explanations concerning the origins of living things, its idols and beliefs, its closed-mindedness to criticisms and developments in science, is a pagan religion that denies the existence of Creator.

The fact that Darwinism is founded upon the denial of "Supreme Being" and that it is actually a pagan religion is something that a lot of people - even its followers - have only recently begun to state openly in articles, books and other writings; hence, you might find what you read in this book surprising. When you realize how intricate and widespread this religion is, you will ask yourself why you did not recognize this obvious fact long ago.

Darwinism is a false religion; yet, it is one of the largest and most widespread religions in the world. It has forcefully influenced people through its various methods of propaganda and of falsification and obfuscation. Over generations the number of its adherents has been growing. Unconsciously, people have become affected by this false religion and, with time, can become serious Darwinists.

But facts are being continually uncovered in the realm of science that this godless religion cannot tolerate. With every new development people are once again coming face to face with the reality of creation. The religion of Darwinism is losing strength before questions about how living things first came into existence, the flawless design and complex structure of living creatures, the variety in species, etc. Every day it loses one more lifeline, for it is a religion that is founded on blind faith and remains impotent in the face of developments in molecular biology, genetics, paleontology and biomathematics. The many recent discoveries in these branches of science show clearly and definitely that evolution is not true.

The only true fact demonstrated time and again by scientific advances is the reality of creation. If you look even with the naked eye at the living things around you, you will find the proof of an extraordinary intelligence, strategy and design. Whether you examine a microscopic sea creature, a single atom, a cell or any living organism, you find an astounding composition. This great intelligence, flawless planning and precise design in every part of nature comes from "Supreme Being, to whom all power and ability belong.

For Example

Many scientists who do not force themselves to be atheists accept and favor the existence of "Supreme Being, Who has an infinite power. For instance, the American astrophysicist "Hugh Ross" states that there is a Creator of the universe, Who is above all physical dimensions as:

By definition, time is that dimension in which cause-and-effect phenomena take place. No time, no cause and effect. If time's beginning is concurrent with the beginning of the universe, as the space-time theorem says, then the cause of the universe must be some entity operating in a time dimension completely independent of and pre-existent to the time dimension of the cosmos. …It tells us that the Creator is transcendent, operating beyond the dimensional limits of the universe. It tells us that God is not the universe itself, nor is God contained within the universe

These results were slightly harder to predict than the other polls, but it's fairly close to what I was expecting. It seems to be missing a question though:

"The origins of human life on planet earth are the result of a combination of terrestrial dna and extraterrestrial dna, defined by the science of genetics, engineered by the Anunnaki thousands of years ago."

edit on 29-8-2011 by ChaoticOrder because: spelling, and change "life" to "human life"

Whether you're joking or not, it probably should have been a question. I was actually expecting to come across it - it is certainly as good a theory as the other 2 posited. And, it's the one I find most likely.

For the sake of balance, and reason, here are some examples of the emerging scientific view of God which makes no attempt to deny evolution.

"The God Theory" by Bernard Haisch
www.amazon.com...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249274834&sr=8-1

Haisch is an astrophysicist whose professional positions include Staff Scientist at the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory, Deputy Director for the Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Astrophysics at the University of California, Berkeley, and Visiting Fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany. His work has led to close involvement with NASA; he is the author of over 130 scientific papers; and was the Scientific Editor of the Astrophysical Journal for nine years, as well as the editor in chief of the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

an excerpt

If you think of whitte light as a metaphor of infinite, formless potential, the colors on a slide or frame of film become a structured reality grounded in the polarity that comes about through intelligent subtraction from that absolute formless potential. It results from the limitation of the unlimited. I contend that this metaphor provides a comprehensible theory for the creation of a manifest reality (our universe) from the selective limitation of infinite potential (God)...
If there exists an absolute realm that consists of infinite potential out of which a created realm of polarity emerges, is there any sensible reason not to call this "God"? Or to put it frankly, if the absolute is not God, what is it? For our purposes here, I will indentify the Absolute with God. More precisely I will call the Absolute the Godhead. Applying this new terminology to the optics analogy, we can conclude that our physical universe comes about when the Godhead selectively limits itself, taking on the role of Creator and manifesting a realm of space and time and, within that realm, filtering out some of its own infinite potential...
Viewed this way, the process of creation is the exact opposite of making something out of nothing. It is, on the contrary, a filtering process that makes something out of everything. Creation is not capricious or random addition; it is intelligent and selective subtraction. The implications of this are profound.

If the Absolute is the Godhead, and if creation is the process by which the Godhead filters out parts of its own infinite potential to manifest a physical reality that supports experience, then the stuff that is left over, the residue of this process, is our physical universe, and ourselves included. We are nothing less than a part of that Godhead - quite literally.

Science and the Reenchantment of the Cosmos: The Rise of the Integral Vision of Reality
www.amazon.com...=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1249275852&sr=8-6

Ervin Laszlo is considered one of the foremost thinkers and scientists of our age, perhaps the greatest mind since Einstein. His principal focus of research involves the Zero Point Field. He is the author of around seventy five books (his works having been translated into at least seventeen languages), and he has contributed to over 400 papers. Widely considered the father of systems philosophy and general evolution theory, he has worked as an advisor to the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. He was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in both 2004 and 2005. A multidisciplinarian, Laszlo has straddled numerous fields, having worked at universities as a professor of philosophy, music, futures studies, systems science, peace studies, and evolutionary studies. He was a sucessful concert pianist until he was thirty eight.

In his view, the zero-point field (or the Akashic Field, as he calls it) is quite literally the "mind of God".

Naming Hal Puthoff, Roger Penrose, Fritz-Albert Popp, and a handful of others as "front line investigators", Laszlo quotes Puthoff who says of the new scientific paradigm:

[What] would emerge would be an increased understanding that all of us are immersed, both as living and physical beings, in an overall interpenetrating and interdependant field in ecological balance with the cosmos as a whole, and that even the boundary lines between the physical and "metaphysical" would dissolve into a unitary viewpoint of the universe as a fluid, changing, energetic/informational cosmological unity."

an excert from Science and the Akashic Field, an Integral Theory of Everything

Akasha (a . ka . sha) is a Sanskrit word meaning "ether": all-pervasive space. Originally signifying "radiation" or "brilliance", in Indian philosophy akasha was considered the first and most fundamental of the five elements - the others being vata (air), agni (fire), ap (water), and prithivi (earth). Akasha embraces the properties of all five elements: it is the womb from which everything we percieve with our senses has emerged and into which everything will ultimately re-descend. The Akashic Record (also called The Akashic Chronicle) is the enduring record of all that happens, and has ever happened, in space and time."

Laszlo's view of the history of the universe is of a series of universes that rise and fall, but are each "in-formed" by the existence of the previous one. In Laszlo's mind, the universe is becoming more and more in-formed, and within the physical universe, matter (which is the crystallization of intersecting pressure waves or an interference pattern moving through the zero-point field) is becoming increasing in-formed and evolving toward higher forms of consciousness and realization.

------------

According to James Oroc's experiences (Tryptamine Palace), when the ego is dissolved in consciousness through the temporary formation of a type of neurological "Bose Einstein Condensate", there is no real dilineation or distinction between individual consciousness and God-consciousness or the universal "akashic field" (Lazslo) aka Zero Point Field.

The "quantum model of universe" is another attempt to purge the Big Bang of its creationist implications. Supporters of this model base it on the observations of quantum (subatomic) physics. In quantum physics, it is to be observed that subatomic particles appear and disappear spontaneously in a vacuum. Interpreting this observation as "matter can originate at quantum level, this is a property pertaining to matter", some physicists try to explain the origination of matter from non-existence during the Creation of the universe as a "property pertaining to matter" and present it as a part of laws of nature. In this model, our universe is interpreted as a subatomic particle in a bigger one.

However this syllogism is definitely out of question and in any case cannot explain how the universe came into being. William Lane Craig, the author of The Big Bang: Theism and Atheism explains why:

A quantum mechanical vacuum spawning material particles is far from the ordinary idea of a "vacuum" (meaning nothing). Rather, a quantum vacuum is a sea of continually forming and dissolving particles, which borrow energy from the vacuum for their brief existence. This is not "nothing," and hence, material particles do not come into being out of nothing.

So in quantum physics, matter "does not exist when it was not before". What happens is that ambient energy suddenly becomes matter and just as suddenly disappears becoming energy again. In short, there is no condition of "existence from nothingness" as is claimed.

In physics, no less than in other branches of the sciences, there are atheist scientists who do not hesitate to disguise the truth by overlooking critical points and details in their attempt to support the materialist view and achieve their ends. For them, it is much more important to defend materialism and atheism than to reveal scientific facts and realities.

In the face of the reality mentioned above, most scientists dismiss the quantum universe model. "C. J. Isham" explains that "this model is not accepted widely because of the inherent difficulties that it poses.Even some of the originators of this idea, such as Brout and Spindel, have abandoned it.
