It makes me laugh when people who work and pay taxes put themselves on a pedestal and talk down to the unemployed (and often the disabled) by labelling them as "scroungers" or "free loaders", and then go on to moan about the gov taking their money. You want to live in a powerful, first world country with a strong economy AND YET you don't want to pay any taxes and feel that making a contribution is somehow beneath you?

I hear it a lot in the UK where people who have had every advantage in life handed to them on a silver plate, yet walk around with their noses in the air with an attitude of entitlement and a seriously undeserved sense of achievement, constantly whining about how much tax they have to pay to subsidize the terminally "lazy". I'm pretty sure sure they phone the police when confronted with trouble and have no problems in using the NHS though! Its not a pick and choose situation I'm afraid. If you don't like how your country is run by all means move to another one.

The Dummycrats are indeed about the "rich" paying "their fair share".

The Republithugs at the same time demonize the Social Security/Medicare receipient as an "entitlement welfare whore".

What is obvious here is that we are all being played against each other to increase BigGov funds and reduce BigGov obligations. What better way is there to accomplish BigGov's goal of enslavement? Get the haves and the havenots to battle each other over who is more at fault,. All the while TPTB steal everything of value from both.

Wake up folks! We are all being had by BigGov and TPTB are laughing all the way to the bank.

The only reason you people complain about high taxes is because you do not get enough back from your government. Take a look at other countries: Canada, Switcherland, Finland, Sweden. People in those countries pay higher taxes than you, but they do not complain, because they get very high quality social sevices back.

The real problem is that your tax money goes to funding your wars, your debt, your bank bailouts, and your allies. With all the money you give to the IRS, you could have already built another America.

By the way, paying taxes is obligatory, but you could have either moved to another country that has no taxes (some exotic island) or create your own country by buying a big piece of land and declare sovereignty.

I can see you did not read the Original Post too well where I clearly said I am not a millionaire. I did not 'game' anything. I worked full time right out of high school, saved my money, bought a business, worked hard, did well, sold the same and I continue to work hard. Where is the system being gamed?

In either case, STFU and stop whining. You are doing quite well and are amongst the least oppressed/suffering people on the planet. THERE IS NO REVOLUTION FOR YOU, you are the status-quo, I re-iterate, STFU.

Really? So being that I have a desire to succeed and want to take care of my family your response to my sentiment that my taxes is too high is to tell me to, "Shut the f*&# up?". I am sure you are quite the conversationalist and are always willing to have a rational and adult discussion with people. Thank you for contributing.

Stop being overly dramatic. I never said that I did not want to pay any taxes. I said I want to pay less taxes. I recognize that there must be some form of taxation to support neccessary goverment (read Constitutional) programs and directives. Anything more than that is wasteful.

How about if I take a look at where my family is orginally from? Italy. Not working too well over there.

Italy is quite far to the right though, very much removed from more central countries in Scandinavia and the like. Does that tell you something?

Anyhow, I'm still waiting on this breakdown of taxes that nobody has yet provided. I don't see the point in complaining about the lazy poor stealing your money if you don't even know exactly how much they are taking.

'tis a bit odd.

You need to read what I wrote again, because it went completely over your head. The Democrat party has pandered to, and continues to pander to, the poor, the downtrodden, the oppressed, etc. The only reason they do this is to earn their vote.

If that were the case, only the poor, downtrodden, and oppressed would be Dems. I believe earlier in this thread it was stated that often the insanely rich are democratic?

I am not quite sure how you are going to get an accurate breakdown since we spend far more money than we we take in tax revenue wise.

How can what I pay in taxes be a 'false premise'? You want to know where our tax money goes? It obviously goes to everything the government spends on and it is not enough by about 70%.

Keep in mind that the terminology coming from the white house, terms like "fair share" and such, are not terms used to refer to any capitalist system. They are words used to describe socialist ideals. They are phrases worded to convince people that they are doing good deeds by taking your money and giving it to someone else because hey - it's fair. Another phrase used in this manner is "common-sense". "Common-sense gun laws", "common-sense measures". That one makes me cringe because it usually means the opposite, that lawmakers are throwing common sense out the _

Your unconscious assumption is that markets are a free, noble, and wild beast chained and rabid at the hands of government.

What you don't realize is that markets/property/monetary systems go hand in hand with governments/nation states and that they are BOTH capable of intense/tyrannical rabid oppression and destruction.

Wealth and power both corrupt. The market is NOT infallible, the government, obviously, is fallible. What the left has realized for decades is that both government and markets need to be scrutinized and resisted as much as possible when needed... what the right has JUST RECENTLY realized is that the government is oppressive, they still cling to markets and hate what their ideologues have falsely branded as "socialism".

Socialism, within the system, delivers more benefits to the masses than not. Ask modern Germans, Scandinavians, French, Canadians, etc. They're smarter, freer, healthier, happier, and have more social benefits than we do... and all without some tyrannical commie government that blinded right-wingers of this country so fear.

You are somehow privy to my unconscious assumptions? What a neat trick. You must also assume that I am stupid and that you are intellectually superior with such a statement

I would appreciate if you would stop speaking on my behalf, both my conscious and unconscious selves. I can speak for myself quite well enough, thank you. And by the way, I know plenty about different political systems and market models, so spare me your biased lesson. Socialism failed in the Soviet Union, and it is FAILING IN EUROPE as we speak. However, whatever form of capitalism that we still have here is not yet dead, even though the current socialist administration has been trying their damndest. They will be unemployed in a little over a year, so we'll see what happens to both capitalism and European socialism int he meantime.

Stay tuned, Karl.

I would be interested in hearing how the OP or whoever else has their 2 cents how they think this capitalist consumerism is supposed to continue? This system only works when consumerism grows exponentially, which cannot last forever since it's completely impossible. Add on top of that the fact that every dollar printed by the fed is loaned into the system. How do we fix the problem? We are a country built on debt and a society driven on instant gratification consumerism born and bred and drilled into our heads since the day we were born. When is it enough? How much money do you need to be happy? How much stuff must you acquire to "win" the game? And at what price?

My grandfather, who was the wisest man I've ever known and who recently departed this world, taught me many things, but one of the biggest lessons he taught me is two fold and it's this: first off, the more money you have the more problems you will face and secondly, the things (stuff) you own, end up owning you. I've been hearing him say this my whole life and never knew what it really meant until 10 years ago I lost almost everything I owned. I made a few bad choices in my love life and not only lost my job but my house, most of my personal belongings, and then ended up in the hospital with a $65,000 bill for my stay.

Looking back, I can honestly say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I realized how little I actually NEEDED to live. I lead a much simpler life now, I cherish my friends and family, and I don't spend my money on foolish things. I also don't work myself to death. I'm not rich in money, but I'm rich in JOY PEACE and LOVE and I'm happier than I've ever been in my life. I share what I can and volunteer in my community.

I hope you guys stop with all this tit for tat over money and stuff. You're killing YOURSELVES like good little slaves to the system. Giving your family a good life is about being together, not having big homes and new cars... Quit perpetuating this dysfunctional cycle!

I have to ask for clarification: Do you believe the government is a living, breathing, entity? It is not, it is merely a tool, same as a gun. Are you for the confiscation and destruction of all handguns? If not why not?

Government is a monopoly on force pure and simple. Your handgun analogy makes my case. If government were a tool like handguns then each person is free to govern themselves as long as they do not harm others.

Marxism and communism are both dead,

No they are alive and well and functioning right here in America and around the world including in your ideology. You can try and re-lable and repackage it but your ideology is marxist communism pure and simple.

No, we are not advanced enough to where we do not need government. As long as we have psychopaths, thieves, murderers and the unsympathetic we will need government.

The psychopaths thieves and unsympathetic have all gravitated to government because they have seen it is the monopoly on force they can use. And use it they do for government has ruined and murdered more lives, and stolen, more then all common criminals combined. If you want to get rid of the psychopaths, thieves, murderers do away with government!

Do you even know what the bare-bones purpose of government is?

Government is as I said a monopoly on force under color of law, a tool for psychopaths, thieves, murderers etc. to oppress and abuse the people pure and simple nothing more!

Government is basically WE, all the people agreeing/compromising to some rules of society.

I use to buy that lie too, but no; government is a small oligarchy of psychopaths, thieves, liars, and murderers who use their monopoly on force to lie, steal, cheat, murder, and plunder millions! Thomas Paine had it exactly right: Society is a Blessing but Government is Evil!

If you should not be forced to pay for his kids school, why should he be forced to pay for yours when his kids are not attending the same school?

RE The minimum standards: What a joke. Look at the test scores and graduation rates since the formation of the dept of education. Look at literacy rates. Be serious. The dept of education is an example of Orwellian double speak.

I have no children. Why should I be forced to pay ANY of his?

Socialism.

Wondered why my post is recopied here without anyone adding to it?
I did say that forcing me without children, to pay any part of either a private school voucher or a public school tax is SOCIALISM.

Are you agreeing with me?

WRONG. Socialism is a complex socio-politco-economic theory.

FORCING people to pay taxes is called TAXATION, which is a facet of government coercion, which is a facet of EVERY SINGLE NATION-STATE EVER TO EXIST. And no... you cannot suddenly slap your 2-minutes-hate buzzword "socialism" on every government policy you decide is evil. STFU, do your homework, and stop demonizing socialism when it's probably done more good for you than bad within the system.

WRONG. Thinking, "born that way"...You are calling "socialism" a hate buzz word??? Maybe people who are against socialism see it as a "hate buzz word." I can't tell if this is you from your rant but if you are following the conversation or any of my posts you'd know I'm in favor of socialism. I know it is a complicated theory but for purposes of these boards people claim socialism is sharing the cost of necessary items and I am trying to get them to see that it is not. So why are you jumping to conclusions and hopping on your rickety little soapbox?
I am trying to get SOL to confess they favor socialism albeit in a limited form. Thanks for butting in. Why take your ideology sell it where they are not full up?

This is hysterical. "Your unconscious assumption" ...Nobody's assuming but you.

You are reading a few words, making a snap political judgement, an assessment based on political terms you know but one thing you are not considering, context. I know you know what the words mean and that is wonderful but you should take a moment and determine what the poster is trying to say and when you figure that out don't take it one step farther and assume you know what they are thinking and everything about them. From what I can see here in this thread alone you are not discussing but just telling what you know without considering what the other poster is saying. How does this promote a position? You are just jumping to conclusions and they are usually wrong. Or how do you say it....WRONG.

Right, so you could be paying $0.01 per week towards welfare. People want more, say $0.02 (which admittedly is a 100% increase) but you're freaking out about it. Can you really not afford $0.02 a week to help the needy?

I'd wager it is a little more than that per week, but until you can actually bring facts and figures to the table your claims of being robbed by the poor mean absolutely nothing. Nada.

This thread is based upon a false premise, no wonder it has degenerated into a political slugfest with no real aim.

Give it a rudder.
