Jesus Christ qualifies as the messiah as he fulfilled nearly all of the scriptures in the old testament. The only scriptures yet to be fulfilled concern the future and will be fulfilled when he returns as Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

ISA 45:23 By myself I have sworn,
my mouth has uttered in all integrity
a word that will not be revoked:
Before me every knee will bow;
by me every tongue will swear.

ISA 45:24 They will say of me, `In the LORD alone
are righteousness and strength.' "
All who have raged against him
will come to him and be put to shame.

How do we know that the bible is accurate today and has not changed over time? The dead sea scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956 and they date to a time before Jesus walked the earth. These findings validate that the scriptures we have today are an accurate representation of what was written more than 2000 years ago.

en.wikipedia.org...

The number of books compiled from the fragments of the scrolls is astonishing. The book of enoch (not considered part of the biblical canon) is compiled 25 times from the fragments. I personally regard the book of Enoch as scripture. So does Saint Jude in the new testament.

These are not new testament scriptures, they are the old tetsament scriptures.

They are carbon dated to more than 130 years before the birth of Jesus.

hi Mythkiller

seeing as u didnt provide a "source',
i will just "comment" too for now,,,

what about the Gospel of John?

i undserstand he was the last living "Apostle",
and he wrote his work before 100AD...

am i wrong?

Funny isn't it that carbon dating and other scientific methods are discarded as "not precise" when they tend to discredit the bible.. but used as "evidence" when it comes in handy.

Lots of "historical facts" were never able to be proven due to lack of evidence... and knowing there were quite some roman scholars keeping logs I assume these facts are mere fiction.

Maybe it's time to put the old book down and look inside to find god, perhaps it's out there somewhere most likely in every atom. But books can't translate what the voice inside is telling you

Sorry, I must have missed something.

When did carbon dating discredit the bible?

there are Roman sources that mention Jesus...

see Tacitus (Annals) XV chapter 44 (written about 114AD)

"Christ executed during reign of Tiberius...by Governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate..."

Jesus was recognised by the Romans as being real...

see also : Celcus;

+ Pliny

etc

edit = correct chapter ref for Tacitus...= chapter 44

You do know that the dead sea scrolls contained books that were not published in the bible. Book of Judas?...How about the book of Mary Magdalin. No the hierarchy couldn't have a book from Jesus' betrayer, nor would they allow a woman to instill morals/values into their people's minds. People (King James, etc) twisted and contorted it to suit their agenda...controlling people.

I have already mentioned the 'Book of Enoch', which I count as part of scripture.

the Dead Sea Scrolls were not a Bible or a book ..

they were a collection of "bits and pieces" from different parts
of of the lives lived by the people who wrote them...

it just so happens that some of the "bits" are parts of the OLD testament...
and when translated, it turned out our copies today ( of the Old Testament),
are almost WORD FOR WORD exactly the same as they were 2000 or more years ago,,,

funny that...

It's my assertion that the Bible is the only document extant that accurately describes our world to this very day. It's the grand unifying theory--nothing else can touch it--and when overlaid on our world is an accurate and perfect fit.

My meme: From NWO to UFOs to Climate Craziness to War and Man's inhumanity to Man it's all in there.

Not to mention things like predicting that Israel would be a nation again someday. No matter what your belief you gotta admit that was a long shot.

Sorry but it's simply not enough to give evidence for his existence. I would like to refer to en.wikipedia.org... . Not a single historian would take any of those claims for real if it would be pertaining a random person let alone a according to the bible well know figure in those days. It's simply not possible.

as for the comments above I was referring to the whole dinosaur vs bible issue with carbon dating etc.

Jesus Christ = Osiris..

Or MANY other names that came *before* Jesus and had the same story. He is just a character that was created and re-told many times thousands of years before the name was changed to Jesus.

It reminds of today's entertainment. We have a 1980's version of Conan with AH-NOLD, now we have a 2011 Conan with a new guy. Same basic story...different lead character.

whether jesus was real or not isnt the problem, he could have been real but "was he the son of god" i mean he could he have just been some very clever dude pulling tricks or just a story someone heard from a friends uncle sisters husband next door neighbour. and if he was the son of god why not show it to the masses like by not dying on the cross and break the cross and super dive kick the dude nailing him to the cross but meh

His actual existence would be a great place to start...

most people do not even believe he was real...

so, once U accept He actually existed,
U have to ask yourself how He came to fame...

and the odds against the survival of Christianity were GREAT,
it was a fluke ( or a miracle) that it has survived...

i am inclined to believe the latter,,,
