I know minimal posts are frowned upon here, but this rings 100% true in my head. A simple way to get over ourselves and an even simpler way to live. Which, I believe, is what we need at this juncture in our downward spiraling society...

Don't like gay marriages? Don't have one. Don't like cigarettes? Don't smoke them. Don't like abortions? Don't get one. Don't like sex? Don't do it. Don't like drugs? Don't use them. Don't like porn? Don't watch it. Don't like alcohol? Don't drink it. Don't like guns? Don't buy one. Don't like your rights taken away? Don't take away someone else's.

I spotted this on a friends FaceButt page and thought some of the folks around here might appreciate it.

I have to admit this is personally how i live my life... Although i must include such things a paedophilia and murder, i disagree fully with them, but i will always hate those who perform such act

If i see someone drugged up to the eyeballs, yes, i will probably leave them alone, i see a woman being raped i don't ignore it, you stop and intervene

I agree with you post up to a degree mate, but in some circumstances you cannot just let things slip by you and ignore them

I believe the only thing we should restrict people from doing is....

1. Hurting other people (violently)
2. Stealing Anything (other than food)

Simple...

Thats kind of what i was getting at, just thought i should point it out as your post kind of made it sound as if we should all ignore things we don't do..

I think very similarly to what you have written

We're in the same boat brother/sister. There is absolutely no need for someone 100s or even 1000s of miles away from me telling me what i should or should'nt do. I believe that we should look out for each other because its pretty damned obvious that noone else will do it for us. Our cage gets smaller every day....

Don't like bestiality ? Don't do it. Don't like drink driving ? Don't do it. Don't like speeding ? Don't do it. Don't like torturing and exploiting animals ? Don't do it. Don't like emotionally abusing children ? Don't do it. Don't like chemical and biological weapons ? Don't make them.

Yes, I see a bit of a flaw in the line of reasoning in your OP...

I always appreciate good, valid posts.
This, my friend, is a great one.

But I can boil it down even further.

Use COMMON Sense!

Pretty simple to me.
Don't like fast food? Don't buy it.
Don't like being overweight? Quit eating junk.
Don't like how much your rights are being exploited? KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

So i guess the alternative is way better. Most of the things you have posted fall within the "Hurting other people" catagory. Common sence... Where is it? Im starting to believe its a hard thing to come by these days.

What does that have to do with telling someone what they can or cant do? My advice to you would be to try to band together with like minded people and form your own solution.

Yes frankly. But again...... What does that have to do with telling someone what they can or cant do? My advice to you would be to try to band together with like minded people and form your own solution.

Unfortunately this whole thing boils down to common sense, which happens to be dwindling in the world these days due to all the laws and red tape making us avoid the use of common sense. Maybe something 'TPTB' dont want us to use anymore and are eradicating it (if this is the way you feel about the world leadership).

I believe that common sense will be totally lost within 50 years and it is a great shame.

Obviously, you guys have pointed some major ones out, but when it comes to judging people for being gay or smoking dope (which is what the OP was trying to get across, i hope) we should be free to, get this:

MAKE OUR OWN MINDS UP!

Something which is increasingly harder to do in this red tape society we live in...

None of the things I posted fall into the ''hurting other people'' category.

You either believe that people should be allowed to do whatever they want, as long as they are not physically hurting somebody or stealing from them, or you don't.

If it's the latter, then everything in your original list can also be validly queried. Personally, I would disagree with someone's ''right'' to indiscriminately partake in every single activity which you originally listed - even so most of them do not physically harm other people.

The problem with libertarian extremists and anarchists is that they do not have any common sense in their ideologies.

''Common sense'' is a ridiculous argument. It's clearly not common sense to drink and drive, but how many people still do it ? If I wanted to cause large-scale destruction to a city's population, then it clearly is common sense for me to get hold of hazardous chemical and biological ingredients ( which I should legally be able to do according to the philosophy of libertarian extremists ).

Common Sense...

Unfortunately....It's the most "Uncommon" of all the senses.

My general philosophy falls along similar lines:

Any activity in which all parties involved do so knowingly and willfully is alright by me and should not be illegal.

This leaves only one discussion point, that of "age of consent"... at what level of understanding can we consider the "knowingly" part to be fully valid? I'm afraid this discussion has no end, as I know some adults who are more ignorant than many children in certain matters.

That said, if the government was run in this way, the prisons would be half empty, and cost to the "justice" system would be radically reduced, then again, I suspect that many of the restrictive laws exist exactly to ensure that these institutions remain generously financed.

Wow. Ive never been labeled before. Thanks! I see your not very happy unless people around you are as miserable as you are. If you choose to drink and drive and wind up hurting someone in the process how is that not hurting someone? Unlike you i dont think its a human right to tell another human what to do. You are no better than anyone else on this planet. The elites only have blinders on the world to make us think they are though. If you "wanted to cause large scale destruction"..... Really? Somehow that doesn't fall under hurting someone? How is common sense rediculus? Because people lack it these days or because the people that do have it are forced to repress it? I sorry you feel that society has to be ruled to be productive. Im sorry you bought into that lie. Once again thanks for labeling me.. I guess theres a first time for everything,
