I pretty much have to wear dress clothes or men's t-shirts, because everything else that's out there is short, tight tops and skimpy jean shorts. Not every woman wants to dress this way. Also, I have been called a (not so nice word for a lesbian) by men numerous times because I refuse to adhere to the "dress code".
What I want to know is why it matters what someone wears? Is that how you determine how you treat people? By what clothes they wear?

One off the top of my head.
Young under age girls dancing provocatively.
Is that natural? Encouraging girls who are not even naturally ready to have sex for the natural reasons?
A caveman probably wouldn't have had sex with a 8 year old girl who hasn't started puberty yet. If we are talking on an instinctual basis wouldn't a caveman be attracted by a girl who is 'in heat' or sexually active?

Ok, that is a much better example. I do know that sex is being marketed to children... I recall seeing pole-dancing lessons for 3 year olds and "fashion shows" of young girls wearing lingerie-looking outfits, as well as the multitudes of other examples.
BUT... I can't really agree that it isn't too far out of normalcy for it to happen. While I'll agree with most people that it's disgusting, it does happen, and often, that men (or women) are attracted to children. This is actually common in some cultures, for example in Afghanistan, where they have those "dancing boys" parties.
But yes, I think it's wrong and physically abnormal... That doesn't mean it doesn't commonly happen, though.
If you took it this way I apologise. Not because you're a woman and you deserve special treatment.
Because you are a fellow human being.
Calm down now.

I hear you, about the (10-to-25 age, or thereabouts) demographic. What do you think of these paranormal hunting shows where the female team members look nearly like prostitutes? The PARANORMAL for God's sake. Jeeeeez. Gimmee a freakin break!
By the way, why is the above demographic so PRIORITYover all others? Don't you notice how a lot of those are between jobs and or live with mother or girlfriend? Like I said, sexualization conspiracy.
I believe it is all about desensitization. Get them when they're young, then it will seem normal later. I have a theory about this, but I don't want to derail the thread. I haven't watched much of the Ghost Shows, but I can't stand the crap MTV puts on such as Sixteen and Pregnant. I also was totally disguested when they started showing The Fifth Wheel and other "soft core porn" shows on local channels when kids would be just coming home from school. Morals have totally gone out the window.
There is certainly a sexualization conspiracy. Scientists say that our basic needs are controlled by our reptillian brains. This includes food, drink, and sex. What do most companies use to sell their products? Our basic animal needs. We've allowed ourselves to become so dumbed down that we rely on our basic needs to decide what we want/need in our lives instead of using common sense. Our ability to decern between what we need and what we want is so blurred anymore. It's all due to programming.
It's no mistake that all the programming is for the benefit of the male species either.

I'm not a woman, I'm male.
I'm curious though, would you still have made the apology if you had realized I wasn't a woman?

And that is exactly my point. This is far from an abnormal occurrence. People on ATS are so quick to derail a thread by nitpicking on little points and ignoring the main issue.
Instructor Carly Wilford says that there’s nothing sexual about the classes and that they help build kids’ strength and self esteem. She points out that pole dancing is a traditional Indian sport called Malkhamb in which gymnast performs feats and poses in concert with a vertical wooden pole.

Child protection services is investigating a British dance studio that’s offering pole-dancing classes for kids. According to a story in the Daily Mail, children as young as 3-years-old are taking the weekly Little Spinners class at Make Me Fabulous dance studio
If she’s trying to remove the stigma around pole dancing, then I have to wonder why she doesn’t just call it something else such as “Circus Camp” or go with the Indian name of “Malkhamb.” Marketing it as a pole-dancing class is what makes it inappropriate. Would you sign your preschooler up for a pole-dancing class?

Well there isn't much you can say about it really. We all know it happens, we all know there's a sexualization of women.
What is up for debate is why.
It's either simple human nature, or widespread perversion/mental illness, or, bringing religion into it, it's sin and a reflection of the corruption of humanity.
There's not really anything else it can be, so the little points kindof DO have to be picked at.

On the other hand, there have been numerous studies indicating that excessive repression of the sexual instinct leads to an increase in the overall level of aggression in a given society. Societies forbidding premarital sex are plagued by acts of rage and tend to have higher rates of crime and violence.[4] There may be a link between sexual repression and aggression, insensitivity, criminal behaviour, and a greater likelihood of killing and torturing enemies.
I also noticed that I along with most males think like this all the time. ALL THE TIME.
I'm hard pressed to think of other horror films that do this though. They certainly are few and far between!

I believe the effects are more widespread. I think that partly due to this sexual objectification of women in the media, unacceptable urges in the eyes of society have formed.
I think that a lot of sexual attacks and wrongdoings could be the indirect outcome of this sexual brainwashing. I believe it has had a serious effect.

Men don't have to try anymore and women are giving it up too quickly - this is a huge problem!

It is up to Women to demand respect, and it is up to Men to find Women they do respect so they have healthy relationships.
If either sex has esteem issues or bad images of themselves it spells disaster. However, girls can be sexy and still be respected. And men can enjoy the company of sexy women while still being respectful.
If anything, the types of problems you seem to be talking about has to do more with lack of education and lack of good social activity.edit on 16-6-2011 by boncho because: (no reason given)
Yes but it goes way past an instinctual urge. Did cavemen fantasise about a threesome with two cave-chicks whilst a sabertooth tiger urinates on them all? Probably not.
