Geomagnetic Level at 6KP! Will an Earthquake Happen Tonight?

I get geomagnetic levels sent to my phone every time it reaches a high enough level to show the northern lights. Anything over 4kp is usually enough to see a faint green in the northern sky in northern Wisconsin. Anything around 6kp only happens every 4-6 months and you may be able to see them as far south as Chicago. At any given time, the KP number is around 1-3.

I just got an alert on my phone for a 6kp storm occurring now. The last time I had a 6kp alert on my phone, the Japan earthquake struck.

Now there is a lot of people out there who believe a high KP occurrence is directly related to many of the major earthquakes we have in the world. This will be very interesting to see if we have a major earthquake occurring sometime in the next 24 hours!

Just had the 5.0 in the gulf of Cal.

On USGS note the line of earthquakes from southern Chile all along the coast up towards California. There is one after the other, a chain of them. I have never seen a chain of them like that.

I checked here for a list of all the major earthquakes that happened in 2010.

I picked the largest earthquake which occurred in Indonesia, it was a 7.7
earthquake.usgs.gov...

Then checked it against the KP index for that day. It was KP-5 level

On a side note: It says Oct 24 for the solar storm, however the earthquake occurred on Oct 25th Indonesia time about 16 hours after the storm went away. It could be a chain reaction, small earthquakes leading to a bigger one? Some kind of lag time between the correlation?

I know because I wrote another thread that actually does show a link between solar activity, but it's with regard to CME's, however I think you'll find the material is relevant.

There is also this thread that was written today in reference to a theory being proposed linking astrological alignments to the earth's seismic activity, and holds a lot of water:

Notice the geomagnetic sudden impulse of k=4 or greater.

On the plus side, if you live in the northern states and look at the north sky...you should be able to catch the northern lights if you're far enough away from any city lights.

It would appear to read in the field of K5. I could be wrong but it sure does not look as though it is a k6 from where I sit. Not sure why nobody else picked this up. I think in one way shape of or form everything ends up relating to everything.

I follow "Aurora_Alerts" on Twitter. They said it was KP 6...

Then I setup SMS text messages to be sent to my phone when they tweet in the twitter settings. This way I get text messages when the KP is over 4. It looks like it's around KP 4 right now...

I don't know alot, but soho showing yellow/red. I was led to believe this is what you look for.

Threads like this always make me worry so much, i live right by New Madrid Fault, so I'm always worried about it...

I do not think there is anything to worry about..at least for now. Here's a tid bit from NOAA on their solar forecast.

Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at low levels for the next two days (30 April - 01 May). Very low to low levels are expected on day three (02 May) as Regions 1199 (N18W62) and 1195 (S15W65) rotate off the west limb.

Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be unsettled to active with isolated periods at minor storm levels for the next three days (30 April -02 May) as a CH HSS becomes geoeffective.

So I highly doubt you should be worried.
