With gas prices going up, It will make the food prices soar even higher. The crazy weather we have been having that wiped out so many crops plus the gas to make the food, ( farmers tractors, etc.) then getting the supplies to the stores in big rigs. I have already started to stockpile food and water. I live in Memphis tn. on the New Madrid fault line. I watched the Japan earthquake and wondered if the people in Memphis would react the same as the Japanese people. NOT!!

Younger friends of mine do not understand why I’m freaking out over current events. They consider it “normal”.

Perpetual war…Wall Street bailouts…rampant unemployment…rich vs. poor gap reaching preposterous levels…sky rocketing inflation despite government numbers stating there is no inflation…blatantly illegal actions taken by elites with absolutely no repercussions forthcoming.

Damn it! This is NOT normal.

I simply want to know how in the heck we reached this point and within a breathtakingly short span of time in relation to our history? Do you think we can ever go back and restore our honor?

Even many old-timers are considering this criminal conduct "normal". Such is the influence of the propaganda that is holding our collective conscience hostage. I don't understand it.

When I read George Orwell's "1984" many years ago, there were passages where the brainwashed masses would enthusiastically embrace any new proclamation, even when it completely contradicted the proclamations of yesterday. I thought that was the weakness in that fictional story. I did not think ordinary people could be made that ..... compliant .... that vacant. And yet, I'm watching this conduct in near real time today.

If we can't retake America from these criminal banksters, the military-industrial complex, Wall Street and politicians, I would rather see this country in total collapse. At least we would quit victimising other nations.

Your country was deemed banckrupt a long time ago. This crazy times we see today is only the evolution of Greed ever since the notion of "Free Marked".
The economic collaps had a great deal with banks creating profit from debth. The increasing need to get better and greater than the competition came to a halt i think at some point. And after this point greed is power to more people. Hence the political enviroment must also have gone in great way in the same direction.
I See your politicians and know they can be bought. Not only that, but willingly too.

The patriotic america is still there and just as strong because it always was a dream. And the great love of this dream was the possibilities. But possibilities is now greatly connected to wealth.

The repucliba of America is loved and gives inspiration world wide. The last decades this might not have been a good thing seing countries like Portugal and Greece going banckrupt.

But still we seem to be so startled nothing os done to prevent what seems to be a written path. China will cross america, even though we know China needs USA since theirs business is interconeected thanks to outsourcing. This can be changed back. But not wihouth consequenses.

So its a pickle. USA has the weakness of always taking the low road. Paying away a chrisis they said was natural.

And now i hear about the whole country being defaulted on your debth???

The currency is falling while other great countries with strong economy like Brasil, India and Russia making a deal last week making every transaction in their own respective currency and not in dollar.

The reason your country is so great is the dollar. It has been the stronghold by being the common trade currency and now your losing it?

But that means you might loose connections to the countries that made you great. And the thing is that many actually are loosing the trust in your political course wich seems so fragile with the republicans in the house f£$cking it up.

Still this is not the first time and let me remind you that Great Britain lost their empire and went benckrupt, but torught some slow decades they grew back and are respected just as if nothing happened.

Now why can`t you guys do that?

Yes you are not good in any statistics but one. You all have a great self esteem and use it! Its not just power but a tool. Its your country and the founding fathers made it so. You are the only country havihng laws that can be overlooked by a jury.

What to loose? Nothing! Its about rising up again and maybe show some respect for the rest of the world. We try , we really try. And you never invite us Norway over here by the way

And i should know. I live in a country you call socialistic but its still the greatest country to live in. Not said by us, but by the world! We pay 25 % tax to food and i pay 33% in income tax.The Gasoline cost around 9 dollar per gallon!! But we have healthcare. REAL healthcare. And we all have a roof on 470 dollars we pay for the doctor in total before we get a free card wich means we don't have to pay for doctor, perscription (Blue Perscription pills like Asthma related and ssri) or the shrink.

This system works and i know its badly comparable to your country since my coyntry is smaller than Texas. But you have the ability if you just let the taxes grow. Then your income will to and the country thereafter. EASY

I agree with you. I have begun wondering if maybe the people of Germany felt this way at the beginning of WWII. Were they brainwashed by their government when the first few countries were invaded..especially the yarn that was fed them to justify invading Poland. Will history question the American citizenry as we have questioned the Germans with "How didn't they know what was really going" ?

Interesting you moved to Canada. My kids and I were just talking about that. Do we stay and fight to re-create our country? Or do we say, "I have to protect my life" and go.

Here is what I love about Canada (just had a conversation with a Canadian fishing guide this AM). Every time I go to Canada, the civility of the people warms me. They love being Canadian and they love Canada. They discuss the USA with me in a concerned, thoughtful but also amused manner.

1) "War is cool! Support the troops! Remember 9/11! We gotta be tough, or the terrorists / russians / chinese will win!"
2) "Deregulate everything, let the free market decide!"
3) "Medicare? That's SOCIALISM!!!! We need that money to give welfare to the military-industrial complex!"

"Can't be happening in America?" This is just hte logical conclusion of every American policy since the 1880's, compounded by the psychosis of blind ignorance that has always been so fashionable among the majority of America's population.

Deregulate everything? Let the free market decide? Ummm, last I checked there are thousands more pages of business regulations every single year. Last I checked, the market has gotten less and less free each and every year... to the point where the US is *NOT* a capitalist country.

If your buying the idea that government has been pushing for deregulation and free markets, then perhaps you also buy the idea we went into Iraq "for their freedoms and democracy". No, the "free markets" and "deregulation" are just sales points for the government to destroy the free market and add thousands upon thousands of pages of regulations designed to keep big businesses big and the smaller ones crushed.

I don't get how people could be against a free marketplace. Your money is yours to do whatever you want with, so long as you are not hurting anybody. And if someone is hurting someone the solution is putting them in jail or otherwise stopping them completely from harming people... not stealing people's money in a fake attempt to be "generous" with other people's money. I'm talking about the total joke called FCC fines (in addition to other fines and regulations) designed as a simple power game designed for politicians to collect more power and continue the trend towards corporatism.

We have something that stops fraud. We also have something that stops pollution. Its called "lawsuits". Apparently the solutions modern problems have actually been around for thousands of years but yet we are force-fed new regulations every day that do nothing to stop the problems. If you want to help stop pollution, start a lawsuit. And if you can't afford a lawsuit, then we need a new government with affordable lawsuits.

People don't realize that this country is going to fall. Gas will be 6.00$ a gallon by August.
