What makes you Read, Reply, or Flag a thread?

A) Depends on who authored it. (A friend or mod)
B) The title of the thread.
C) The actual content of the first post by the author.
D) The content of the replies to the thread.
E) Just to reply to an offensive comment made to you or something you don't agree with.

Most of the time "D" with a close second being "C".

If the thread already has loads of flags, then I'll jump on the bandwagon and blindly flag it without any regard to its content, what-so-ever. Oh, sorry, I thought you meant what do most ATS users do when they flag garbage all the time.

All the above but especially:

F.) If it has something I didn't know already.

Title and content is why i read a thread.
Research and truth is why i star a post.
Imaginative and new content not just a rehash on old stuff helps as well.
replying is about all of the above, I like debating an issue, it expands my mind by exploring all different aspects of a topic.

Quite simply "The title of the thread"

it depends on the subject and info provided...if i feel that the op has made good points ill throw them a star...if i think it needs to be noticed by everyone ill flag it...i definately dont s+f just based on who the op is. even tho i know that there is times when people s+f just because the op is a popular poster.and the info provided in their thread is nothing special and they will have hundreds of flags and stars...i dont care who the poster is if they made good points they deserve no matter who they are

It has to be interesting or funny, or both.

Bold claims (either way) helps too.

Being a friend will automatically attract my attention.

B) The title of the thread.

It has to be an area of interest.

C) The actual content of the first post by the author.

D) The content of the replies to the thread.

a.k.a. quality . Yes.

E) Just to reply to an offensive comment made to you or something you don't agree with.
