Too bad this had nothing to do with 9/11 and implying that it did is a logical fallacy. I'm sure many of these men and children had never even been out of their country. When faced with evidence that what we're doing in Afghanistan is wrong, staunch ideologues like yourself need only to rattle off about 9/11 and terrorists etc....it's sickening.

True American heroes

Please don't claim something of being a logical fallacy when it isn't.

What he said was #ing stupid, not illogical or fallacious in the least bit.

And I just see mindless cheer leading of war in the Mid East, and not even well thought through cheer leading either.

You might have been told that people on conspiracy sites tend to be a little looney, but we are smarter than the people in the Fox boards and so you need to bring a little game to sites like ATS. Seeing as how you are new and all.

It's photos like this, that make me truly wonder who they "good guys" really are...and makes me question why others would attempt to detract from the issue.

See that group of people lining up in the distance?
Yeah, over there - that line of people off in the distance...that far queue.

...Far queue.

What he said was incredibly stupid. But consider his premise: Muslims carried out 9/11; therefore, these Muslims deserved what they got. I believe that's a non-sequitur logical fallacy.

Or the images of the wives that waited for weeks by the phone in absolute denial.

Your avatar says a thousand words.

you still think any of this has anything to do with 9/11?? even if it did, we're americans, our standards are certainly supposed to be above taking pictures with the enemies corpses, that kinda #hit isn't too far off the holocaust mark. you're probably one of those people that made excuses for abu ghraib too?

tit for tat, eye for eye huh? cept the only thing these people have in common with the 9/11 terrorist is thier race/religion.

While the acts of these few are horrible, blaming the entire US military for their actions is absolutely ridiculous. As far as the publishers, Rolling Stone has been a bastion of liberal idiocy for a long time.......if ever there was a leftist magazine with an agenda this is the one. Rolling Stone makes Fox look unbiased.

Could you bee any more of a tool?

Yeah... Iraqi farmers carried out 9/11. Do you realize how absolutely ridiculous you sound? Or maybe it was the 15 year old boy... who would have been 5 FRIKN YEARS OLD WHEN 9/11 HAPPENED?

You disgust me and I feel low just living on the same planet as you.

Someone is trying to demoralize the US military with its people and other countries.

Unfortuneatly, things like this have been done to our soldiers time after time. You don't know what happened preceding these pics (which I haven't looked at). I am smart enough to know that they are released for a purpose.

These people might not be the police of the future. They might be the resistance that saves your a%# if what you think is coming is true!

Someone is trying to demoralize us? Who? The troops themselves? They are the ones doing this. I'm sorry it wasn't covered up like I'm sure you would have liked.

I would rather die than be "protected" from people who kill INNOCENT children and farmers. That's just outrageous.

Did you read what the SOLDIERS THEMSELVES said? Planting weapons on innocent people so they could kill them. On and on. I can't believe you would be defending these people.... more sickening behavior. You read how the one guy burned his wife with a cigarette? Oh yeah, real honorable man he is! What a bunch of crap.

This pisses me off to no end.... one reason being is people will try to paint the whole Military as the worthless pieces of human excrement that did this. Most of the military are very honorable, brave, good people. THEY should be respected and admired. People like THIS should be given the same treatment as a terrorist, because that's all they are.

And I will say once again, I'd ask people not to judge everyone in the armed forces based on these events. Don't let your emotions get the best of you and judge all of the good men and women based on what these scum did.

Far from it.

Any British serviceman will attest (off the record, of course) to the fact the US are well known for their heavy-handedness and lack of any empathy towards those they are "freeing" from opression.

Shoot first, questions later - the American Way.

I meant the gore isn't shocking to me. In case you were concerned, I would have reported these actions to the superiors faster than they would have thrown a bullet at me. I despise this.

I seem to remember a bunch of wailing and gnashing of teeth with the calls for retribution, penalties etc, for the "attrocities" at Ahbu Graib..........seems things got worse under Obama. Where are the same whining, pansy leftists extremeists on this? Why isnt this front page everywhere like it was? Speaks volumes.......of course Rolling Stone jumped on it too, but I don't see the same vitrole this time. Had to have beed hard for them to publish anyway as they are kissing Obamas ass monthly in their rag now.

Unfortunately, while extreme challenges (like fighting terrorism) can bring out the best in some people, it's not a surprise that it will bring-out the worst in others. I assume the vast majority of US personnel are conducting themselves in professional and humane manner. However, I do not assume there has never been any inappropriate or criminal behavior.

IMH(f)O, those involved should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible under US and International Laws.

There is a very valid reason why taking pictures of a combat zone is (or at least was, when I was in) strictly against regulations.

What you are seeing, those shocking heart-wrenching ghastly images.... THAT IS WAR.

War is not clean, it is not neat, it is not humane, it is not pretty, and soldiers become disoriented in a very surreal state when they have to carry it out.

This looks no different from the scenes of ANY war. ANY.

These images that repulse us so, are the exact thing we need to think of when we think of war.

We are not SUPPOSED to want to go to war because..(see pictures)... it is brutality intensified to its worst level.

No matter how they change the vocabulary about war, no matter how they justify the 'cause'... it always leads to mangled corpses, unthinkable pain, and sometimes a temporary (albeit long felt) shattering of some undefinable aspect of the human mind. (We have seen this in soldiers returning from any war we've engaged in.)

I have seen mothers and fathers proudly send their children off to war. I have tried to prepare some for the experience. It is not to be taken lightly. as you well can see.

The true horror comes from when you see, instead of those faces, those of your brother, or sister; your son, or daughter.

These pictures evoke sadness, not anger, in me. Sadness because despite thousands of years of "civilization" people are still surprised and shocked by the brutality of war.

Now, this is no endorsement of the war..... it is no endorsement of the behavior, or the results... it is simply a statement of fact. Is it worth it?.... that seems to be for others to decide. THAT makes me angry.

So far I've agreed with what this member has said on the thread.

It's funny how terrorists can willingly and boastfully murder innocents in the name of Allah and call it a war against the West they despise so much, no one bats an eyelid. Soon as a western force shoots suspected or known terrorists, they're immediately dismissed as wrongdoers and vile animals.

Sure the people in the pics are wrong for posing with the bodies as macabre trophies but those who are out there avoiding death by improvised explosive devices planted to injure, maim or kill our troops or any innocent civilian who happens to step on them, avoiding capture and beheading, doing their job and moving on rather than taking trophy pics are not to be dragged through the mud over or confused with a few morons and psychopaths who pose with their kills.

After reading stuff like this, I've come to the conclusion that most ATS members are west hating, terrorist supporting anarchists with no common sense. It's just automatic hate for the very people and governments that you beg for assistance during times of economic strife or potential invasion/attack.

How anyone can find pleasure in mutilating corpses and posing with them is beyond my scope of understanding!

Then again, this caption is really telling--shows how much we test recruit's mental faculties before sending them to war on BEHALF of the USA!!!!!!:

Before the military found itself short of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, Morlock was the kind of bad-news kid who the Army might have passed on. He grew up not far from Sarah Palin in Wasilla, Alaska; his sister hung out with Bristol, and Morlock played hockey against Track. Back in those days, it seemed like he was constantly in trouble: getting drunk and into fights, driving without a license, leaving the scene of a serious car accident.
----
Even after he joined the Army, Morlock continued to get into trouble. In 2009, a month before he deployed to Afghanistan, he was charged with disorderly conduct after burning his wife with a cigarette. After he arrived in Afghanistan, he did any drug he could get his hands on: opium, hash, Ambien, amitriptyline, flexeril, phenergan, codeine, trazodone.

Anyone who defends these people and calls this propaganda needs to take a serious look at their lives. This isn't porn or morbid! This is REALITY! They used to play casualties all the time during Vietnam and it enraged the youth! That is why they cover everything up now. So we won't react...

UGH! Abu Ghraib, the entire set was so awful... yet they censored over half of it until it leaked!

Most of the people in the photos are confirmed, innocent FARMERS and CHILDREN!!!!!!!! How can you discount a life with your rhetoric?!
