I guess every country should apologize to everyone for any land conquered and any casualties in battle over what say the last 1000 years?? Would that make everyone live happily ever after?? Would Indians be apologizing if they slaughtered all the evil white men? Do blacks demand apologies from the African slave traders who sold em in the first place? Nope they are just looking for a handout nowdays.

Sadly for you, history tells us the US will eventually fall, and by the looks of things, soon.

Remember the mighty USSR?

They went broke and are no more.

Once the US cracks, there are some tribes strong enough to take back or hold what they have: the Navaho, Mohawk, Sioux, the Cheyenne, the Cherokee, White Mountain Apache are a few who spring to mind. All the nations chafe for freedom and would prefer to re-enter the company of nations peacefully.

But freedom will not be denied.

If you truly want us to make you, all we have to do is grit our teeth and be you for as long as it takes to make you go away and leave us in peace: all we've ever wanted of you...

Freedom for us means being free of the US, and if you actually believed in the values you cliam to hold as a nation you would liberate us, but.....

wow, people sure don't pay attention when they want to make their opinion known...I AM CANADIAN...I grit my teeth and still continue to help your people. I hope one day you will grow into a person that is a contributing member of society. That is all I have been saying. EQUALITY. It works both ways. I should NOT have more rights than you...and you should have NO more rights than me. Until that happens, I will continue to complain about how MY tax dollars are spent.

ps- US can crack all it wants...it will make the bums feel at home...SEE WHAT I DID THERE!? A BUTT JOKE!

edit: sorry I missed the part where you asked to be liberated...guilty of one of my pet peeves...how am I supposed to liberate you when I already pay for most of your life!? Do you want to move in with me?
Please explain.

Having read the different posts that are presented here about the Native Americans, there are a few things that can be stated in that aspect.
As far as giving back the land, that is not going to happen, nor should it. What makes a piece of property legally owned, can not be just on claims on people who had no control over what their ancestors did. If that were the case, then it could be brought up, that some would have an equal claim against the Native Americans for the lawful murder of their Ancestors, who did nothing to provoke or cause any malice, but were savagely murdered and killed in the process. As that would not go in a court, nor should giving up the lands. And it should also be mentioned, that not every tribe benefits from the casinos that many of the Native Americans have, as it is shown, that the tribes with money, do not share with their neighbors or the tribes that do not have money or casinos. And from a historical perspective, it is documented and shown that many of the different tribes fought over land as well, and the game and resources that were on that land.
Reparations may seem like a good idea, however, the question is how to you repay someone for something, that did not affect them personally, and that only affected their ancestors who are long gone? Money is not the solution, and the opportunities that are present are often squandered and wasted, as it is seen. The only solution is to have those who would believe in such, help themselves, to better themselves. Give a person a fish, and he starves, teach him to fish, and he will never go hungry. We can not undo the past, and perhaps it is time that together we make a better future, rather than keep rehashing the past. Too many live in the past, and fail to see the wonder of the future, or even think that just maybe, tomorrow will be a better day. The reservation system that was set up, at the time, may have seen liked a good idea, however, it has turned out to be a horrible thing for both sides, time to let such go, and welcome the Native Americans in as full citizens, and having them join the society, not remain separate and apart from such.

I am part Lenape Indian by the way and my opinion is they have successfully killed enough of the Indians and seperate them enough to keep them from their roots and traditions. Secondly there's not enough large groups of them to cause any protests for example: Blacks in the civil rights movement. Large enough numbers on the news get results. The indians did not have a forum such a TV news to get help.

hey it sucks the way your people were treated. The main thing is that now you get treated with respect and allowed to do whatever you want! My grandfather was forced to serve in the army. He never got a letter of apology from the Germans for taking that portion of his life away. Atrocities were committed in the past, and as long as we don't forget where we came from, we won't repeat this. I don't know what it is like in the US but in Canada a portion of my taxes go to helping Indians for the past. I don't mind. I wasn't a part of it, my parents were not, and my immigrant grandparents were not either. If that is what is needed to be done and to get over this PAST injustice, then so be it. Please answer me this though. How many more generations must my family help pay for when we weren't a part of it? Can I claim special exemption or just because I was born in a stolen country I have to pay the rest of my life? I didn't and would never condone what was done to your people, but, we must try to get past this horrible time in history, move on, and become a healthy member of society.

Yea the handfuls that are left now do get treated with respect.

The massacre of the Indians was a horrible atrocity...in the past. No disrespect intended but, there is nothing stopping you or your people to get back to your roots and traditions. Don't blame anyone else. If you want to protest now...do it. Don't blame everyone else for past problems...move on. Again, the internet is not the best place to convey emotion...but I didn't mean that in a derogatory way.

EVERYONE gets treated with as much respect as they earn and deserve. I don't think that is something to laugh about..and unless you are going to actually contribute anything worthwhile besides a one-liner and an emoticon...don't bother....if you need help check out apacheman's comments...insightful and intelligent.

I admit that we, as a nation, treated the native peoples with indignity, lawlessness and inhumanity.

The trouble is, this is a behavior that has been repeated ever since there have been people. Do any amount of historical research and you will find that ethnic groups and nations have harrassed, subjucated, absorbed, eradicated, displaced, and enslaved other ethnic groups and nations as far back as can be researched.

We, as a species, tend to be self-serving and arrogant. 'What's mine is mine, and what is your's is mine.' could be the underlying creed for all humans.

We've only begun to address the unfairness of our behavior in the last century or so, which I consider a step in the right direction as a whole, but when resources are at a premium, or riches are to be had, we will still tend to degrade into destructive hordes.

I doubt that Ghengis Khan had much sorrow at the incredible wasting of Eurasia, nor the Viking's decent on western Europe, or the Roman's taming of the known world, or the overtaking of splendid civilizations in South America by the Spaniards.

Even the romanticised idea of the peaceful 'Indian' was not terribly accurate..each tribe had its foes and they went to war with one another...and you can bet they did not treat their captured adversaries with understanding and kindness.

Unfortunately, humans are not very nice to one another. Rather than wait for an apology (and possibly a handout) perhaps it is up to each individual to do the best with the situation in which they find themselves, to better themselves, to better their people and to make sure, collectively, that we don't behave this way any longer.

Good luck with that.

I chose to not read much past the first page. I don't care for the hate posters.

By now I'm sure you know that a formal apology was made in 2009 after a long effort spanning years.

If it was real, why am i still here?

A couple pages ago, some briefly spoke about how many full-blooded natives are left. Well, I'm full-blooded, if it helps...ya know, I just wanted to point that out.

I've always thought that US government already "apologized," guess I was wrong.

Why should any body apologize for any thing, for what?

It was gods doing; it had nothing to do with this generation.

It was a design a design fit for the time at hand.

A time in which the blood and energy needed to be sacrificed for the common good in humans, and for humans.

Both sides did there job, and it led to this time.

Their blood and sacrifice is well celebrated in the heavens, as all ancestors dance around the fire, telling tells, and chatting with no color of flesh ,and no design of superiority, as they laugh and enjoy the eternal love ,for a war, that humans had nothing to with.

Stop sleeping with such stoned heart , and such questions in brain that leads to unanswered ,unhealthy thoughts of a time which had nothing to do with you.

Did you read my post above that one? Because if you didnt maybe you should instead of attacking without ammo. Attacking people is also against T&C maybe you should tell a MOD instead if you dont like my post(s) Also I wasn't laughing at that... I was laughing at your response that since they get respect today its seems somewhat ok that was what I found funny. Your post sounded ignorant yea I reworded it but thats why I laughed cause screw the HOLOCAUST on indians we get respect today and that supposed to be relevant in some way?

Ive seen many documentaries and its really sad,,,

Instead of all the aid we send over seas to people who hate us ,,we should re-invest in our people...

I read an article on reseveations who have casiono's(very few though),,some of them have 100,000 dollars by the time they turn 18,,,,the article was about why dont they share and help other tribes other than their own???

all 50 states should have lottery system to help the tribes/reservations/DNR/park services,,beauty and wildlife...

Where every one wins....

As for an apology,,,who can we hold accountable when it really cant be sincere...???

I'dl pass on a apology,, and rather see some action and results...
We are now at quite a few generations ahead,,,cultures change and add many new imigrants into the equation as well,,,,

The apology should have come 111 years ago,,(it would be or could be sincere then mostly?? if it makes one move on with his life with a reckoning fullfilled??)..

Look an Nanking,,,hard to get an apology from 2nd generation people,,,

The whole wrold should apologize for being human...
Ive seen horrid acts from every race,,,culture,,,and there were quite a few who battled amognst themselves as well....for a few hundred years befor the white man came,,,,

There are many peacefull and loving people of all races,,,,

The problem is a vast majority of reservations turned into the 6-pack instead of the wolf pack,,,alot of all races of people this has become,,,,

all races in the end are prejudice to eachother,,,,

I want action,,,instead of building a bridge or a dam in Pakisatn let them pay for it,,,hate to say this but even israel,,,they are on our welfare system as well,,,what are gonna do,,,give'em a billion+ dollars a year forever????

We need to care for our own first here,,,,

What mainly Im saying is I want to see RESULTS,,,having Obama or a politician say sorry holds no weight..

The whole world is such a mess,,,

hatred and stupidity,,,and things will get 10x's worse....

Good post/thread,,,

I star and flaged it,,,

...because they know they did wrong. How often does the U.S. or any other government for that matter apologize for the wrongs they've done? From 1870 thru 1935 the U.S. government violated all treaties signed by Native Americans.
