I thought about that when making the post, but the Catholic Church just covered it up and blocked efforts to expose and stop it. I am sure a number of priests thought they were doing gods work when abusing kids all in the name of original sin, but the Churches' cover-up was more political than anything else.

And due to the wikileaks, we know that the bush administration knew this was going on, and we also know that dynacorp>halliburton>cheney actually helped in this process and helped cover it up.

OK then, you deny that it has happened repeatedly throughout history... go on....

I think it's sick and horrible myself but I cannot deny that this is the world we live in.
I myself have been a victim of pedophilia and I carry the hurt and the pain of it every day.
The main type of case that is heard in the courts here in Australia these days is for child pornography.
How has the situation got this bad? It's disgusting but it happens, and it happens for a variety of reasons including those I've already expressed.

Yes they did and it was horrible that they did so. No argument from me on that. I wasn't defending them, that whole issue is an ongoing shame for them.

That's precisely the point.

The Catholic child sexual abuse scandal highlighted the widespread incidents and cover-up of clergymen preying on young children. It would obviously be foolish to think that this behaviour was done because of their religious beliefs or that Catholics, as a whole, believed that this was acceptable.

The story in the OP reports on a cultural custom that occurs in one small part of the Muslim world, yet he decides to include their religion in his thread title, thus falsely indicating that this practice is commonplace in Islam, rather than being confined to one cultural area.

Women, typically, do not have more control over relationships than men do overall in the world. That is common knowledge, not rocket science.

In the Western world maybe they do, but that is just because they have more influence overall.

I say my share of "Yes, Dear." just like any guy in a relationship, but even around here, most domestic violence victims are women, not men.

So many want to say this is cultural, its not and burying our heads in the sand to be politically correct is not the wisest thing to do. Seeing clearly is wise. This is Islam, and a part of their intense, patriarchal to the point of complete disregard for women, treating them like they are unclean, culture, only its ISLAM culture. Not relating to every person, but one of the things none the less that is real to this specific cultural heritage shared by the ones who created their religion.

What source did you cut and paste them from? Have they been verified by independent Islamic scholars? Is the interpretation correct? ...

Of course not and I am not sure how you made that connection. I wasn't condoning it, I was saying the root cause was the cultural or religious enforcement of sex separation.

The words are rather straight forward, what a wonderful thing. Don't beleive your eyes, let the plain and simple truth of something be buried. Nah, I'd rather face it. Getting along with your neighbor cannot happen at the expense of truth, and clarity. So that people may start to make those long needed U-Turns in their lives because this earth school is about Love: equality, charity, kindness, gentleness, service to others, respect, non-judgments, non-retaliation, going the extra mile, compassion, and caring more people, all of them, every single person on this planet, than any possessions. Not usary, not exploitation. Plain and simple truths.

And every nation/culture and religion has a real accountability to Love and not exploitation of others.
