This is a logical step up from 9/11 and it will genuinely affect the election.

Um_Gazz is right...the plot is thickening! I just checked my snail-mail and I received a postcard from Senator Betty Karnette inviting me to a Town Hall Meeting on Port Security. Text reads: "Please join in this important meeting for a discussion on port security, emergency preparedness and what can be done to further secure your community. July 13, 2004 5:30 -7:30 p.m."


Nerdling- The helicopters don't seem to hover; it's more of a patrol; coming by every 4-5 minutes. I'm looking at the local news websites to see if any of them have their webcams fixed on the harbor so maybe you all can see the cutters positioned at the inlets.

A standard patrol pattern in a place full of inanimate objects, there must be some kind of specific threat intelligence.

As i said, if you can scan this or get a picture of that leaflet thing we'd be very much obliged.

If Russia did supply them with nukes a few years back, and the terrorists use it on us (or Europe), and we go after them for it, then itd just be huge mess going with Russia.

I suppose they are trying to get through as many of these containers as possible and it would be more practical to use a helicopter as a mobile platform.

if this attack is to be on the US, it'd be wise to keep an eye on the Canadian and Mexican borders. as of this afternoon, security was the same as always at the Detroit-Windsor tunnel crossing (I've a friend that commutes back and forth regularly). with borders that size, it's tough to patrol everything and keep track of everything going back and forth. basically, I'd put my money on an attack anywhere but NYC. Any city that does a lot of international shipping is a possibility. Of course, the attack could be from inside the States. so basically, we'd all better watch our butts over the next few weeks.

The easiest border crossing into this country is through Palomas, Mexico. A frekin cakewalk. I wonder if the feds have stepped up security around there.

just heard some analyst on FOX news, saying that chatter suggest major attacks in several cities at once and that there atleast 20 suitcase nukes already in this country, all which most likely came thru our ports. Now that is some scary ****!!!

omg...major freudian slip, I am supposed to be baking a cake for my boys this afternoon...ooops!!

as for the analyst, i didn't catch his name, he's is a terrorism expert, wrote a book...i think the book is called "what your govt won't tell you" or something like that

Who was this person that reported it? A specialist in the terrorism feild?

If this is true, then we have something on our hands bigger than we have ever seen in history. This is getting very scary with all of the major news companys coming out with this information. Like one person said above, "the news is the best sorce of intelegence now adays"......Scary, Scary.

Ps. Whats are Suitecase cakes? I assume suitescase Bombs right? Nuke or dirty?

This is more than just reminding us to be scared.

This is the real deal folks.

That many suitcase bombs would kill millions and cripple america. You'd have to retaliate fully with nuclear weapons after it.

They can be 2 things.

The suitcase nuke is soviet era and hold a yield in single digit kilotons, i think its around 5kt. Thats enough to level 20 blocks and kill thousands.

The dirty bomb will have the conventional power of around 50lbs of C4, enough to blow the crap out of a house, if detonated it would spread radiation for miles.

No offense to Nerdling, but this seems to be a repeat of the Aussie Bloke scare a few weeks ago. If there really are suitcase nukes in the US I don't know what I'll do. My most reliable means of escape if every kind of infrastructure falls is separted from me by 600 miles and at least one guaranteed nuked city (DC). While we're on the topic, who thinks DC is as good as dead if something does happen?

This is something that I will be forwarding all my friends/family as this is starting to look like it is a matter of "when" and not "if".

Dont get me wrong Iam not going to jump to conclusions and head for the mountains (cause I live in the mountains of B.C. thank god) but Iam definatly going to do my home work for this. You know, the plan that we should all have made by now. Food/water supply, first aid, clothes/blankets, a safe place to hideout ect.

By the way is there anywhere that we could get information as to where the best places to be if a radiation attack was to happen in major cities? I would imagine that there is information somewhere that people can read to be more aware. I mean I remember my Science teachers in Collage would tell us that in B.C. if we were attacked by a nuke in seatle that he would be heading for the mountains imediatly as the radition(or most of it) would sweep over the mountain ranges.

Information is wise in times like these. and being prepaired would be more wise for all of us.

Everytime someone brings up something now that can possibly have a disasterous effect it is automatically linked to the AB thing! I am really starting to think that this whole AB hoax thing was set-up on purpose.

You misunderstood me. What I meant was the mass's reaction to this news was/is similar to the reaction surrounding the AB scare. Siutcase nukes had nothing to do with AB. The reason so many things are getting linked to AB is because that scenario is very revealing as to how people act when they think a disaster is imminent. Sorry if that annoys you.
