Can that ATS Live bar be lowered?

Is it possible to add an X to the ATS Live bar at the bottom of the page, so we can remove it if we choose? It may seem a small thing, but I find it distracting while browsing.

ETA: Badly worded post. I mean, can it be made into a "lowerable" bar?

Haha, I thought you meant figuratively speaking "can ATS lower the bar." Totally misread the subject line there.

Um have you tried moving it?

If it's not moving my expert opinion would be no.....

Well, the bar COULD be lowered, but I'm not sure we would want that.

What I meant was, can SO add that? It would not be tough to do, I imagine.

What good would it be if you could *lower* it.

To answer OP, it looks like a _javascript embed. You'd have to disable _javascript to not see it, but I wouldn't recommend it, and I don't mind it at the bottom myself.

It would be nice to get it out of my field of vision.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I won't disable Javascript. Annoying to see that thing, but guess I will deal with it.

Maybe increase the screen res so that it becomes more insignificant at the bottom?

100% agree. I object to this being imposed on our screens. It is visually intrusive and what is more the content is of absolutely NO interest whatsoever.

This is a real intrusion especially for those with smaller screen real-estate.

The bottom ribbon is an increasingly common technique used throughout the web for additional persistent/preferences links, as well as internal promotions.

After a great deal of experimentation, this is the best way to promote our various efforts (ATS Live, revamped Streetview, ATS News vidoes, etc.) in the least-intrusive yet easily accessible way.

The bottom ribbon will ONLY be used for promoting things ATS is doing, and will not contain any advertising unless an advertising is sponsoring ATS Live or other site content/events.

In most cases, it will only appear for a brief time, then disappear after a few seconds unless there is something specifically important to impart.

I was about to start a topic on the same thing.
I mainly use a net book with a tiny screen to begin with, this bar might seem insignificant on most screens, but on mine it takes up 2 lines of text in the thread.

I hope its temporary, or there is an option to remove.

Can you hold down the CTRL key and scroll to make everything smaller within your browser? (IE behavoir)

Is there something wrong with using the piece of screen that is already taken up on the right hand side which says "now @ ATS" and appears to be completely defunct as it does nothing?

Even if you are saying that we have no choice, I can see no reason why you cannot collapse it using an x, or have it behave in a similar manner to Snaggit which pops up either when you hover on it or click on it. When not in use it is a simple 2 or 3 pixel orange bar.

This site is just getting gaudier and gaudier by the day with more and more conflicting background text and colour clashes.

It doesn't bother me if it is promoting ATS stuff or viagra, it is really, really annoying and it would be nice to have a way to turn it off or otherwise hide it. We are already surrounded on 3 sides by link bars that follow us.

How many adderall will it take to mentally block all the ads and zero in on actual content?

If there is an option for text only, I would love know what it is.

I wish ATS would offer a paid subscription with no ads, or a free one ( this one) filled with ads.

I'm not usually like this, but I'm finding it harder and harder to be able to browse this website. Too many distractions,
too many colors, and much too busy looking for me to concentrate.

SO - this is a huge problem for those of us using Netbooks - the banner at the top was easier to live with.
Just my two cents.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

Add LadySkadi two cents to mine. I already have editted my registry to allow higher resolutions, but I am at max and this bar still takes up too much space. I understand it is an increasing tool on many webpages, but it is an obtrusive tool nonetheless. Just a way to mimimize or exit from the advertisement once users have read the info would be very useful, the same way the welcome message used to be able to be closed. I only need a second to read the information, not my entire browsing session.
