It's extremely hypocritical.

The secrets of Government affect me - Julian Assange's Love life does not.

I deserve to know the secrets of Government - I do not deserve to know the secrets of Julian Assange's Love life.

The government belongs to we the people - Julian Assange does not.

No you don't.

Please point out where it states you have a right to know every secret deal or happening in the government in the bill of rights?

You THINK you're entitled to it, that doesn't make it a fact.

I think I'm entitled to 20 billion dollars right now, for no reason, I deserve it!

Read the Executive Orders on classification. Many of these cables should have never been classified confidential or secret. As such, they are meant to be in the public domain. It's an abuse of power and tax payers have a right to view what they paid for. Classifying for the hell of it is prohibited.

On the other hand, the people did not pay for private information pertaining to an ongoing case. Releasing it is an abuse of power. It's high time detractors start concerning themselves with the abuses rather than protect them. Advocating tit for tat is atrocious. You could be next. You would be equally outraged if it was your case.

Some peoples pettiness knows no bounds.

Sec. 1.7. Classification Prohibitions and Limitations.
(a) In no case shall information be classified, continue to be maintained as classified, or fail to be declassified in order to:

(1) conceal violations of law, inefficiency, or administrative error;
(2) prevent embarrassment to a person, organization, or agency;
(3) restrain competition; or
(4) prevent or delay the release of information that does not require protection in the interest of the national security.

haha yeah CLEARLY this man is ONLY targeting america

people are so easily controlled. it's sad really, if the tv says it, it must be true. the associated press (and the australian gov. for that matter) would NEVER lie to kiss ass or target somebody with a smear campaign.

Julian Assange, a man who I believe is nothing more than another America hater, has now shown his true colors. Obviously what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander...

Some information has been leaked about his accused sex crimes and boy he doesnt like it!

Speaking from the English mansion where he is confined on bail, the 39-year-old Australian said that the decision to publish incriminating police files about him was "disgusting". The Guardian had previously used him as its source for hundreds of leaked US embassy cables.

Yeah, disgusting Julian. Just like your efforts to smear America. This guy is a real piece of work. Someone does the exact same thing to him that he did to an ENTIRE country and he has the nerve to complain about it?

Mr Assange claimed the newspaper received leaked documents from Swedish authorities or "other intelligence agencies" intent on jeopardising his defence.
"The leak was clearly designed to undermine my bail application," he said. "Someone in authority clearly intended to keep Julian in prison.”

And your leaks were clearly designed to undermine American influence. This guy is nothing more than a sniveling coward who needs to get out of the kitchen because the oven is getting to hot.

This made me laugh...

1st - He probably didnt commit any sex offences...use your conspiracy brain to ask yourself why they were brought up when he came public with his info

2nd - What the US Governemt has done is disgusting, and hopefully many many more will follow his suit and show the true nature of the western world. He isnt smearing america, he is providing the truth to the american people...he should be a blo*dy national hero of yours once this is done

3rd - Undermine american influence...well I HOPE HE IS SUCCEEDING because the world has had enough of the american influence.

Ive got no love for government secrets. Julian has always struck me as an America hater though because he never really releases anything of significance from other countries. It seems his sole purpose is to smear America. He neglects to say that ALL countries do the same thing, they just haven't gotten caught.

I for one am enjoying watching that impetuous little prick squirm for once now that someone else has leaked info about him.

Wait first it's America the land that is different from any other and when it comes to showing the bad things "every country does it." I don't care about "every other country" are we diferent or are we the same? Decide because you people can't keep switching on this.

I say we are different, and the way we show that is by accepting that this government has done terrible things and working towards fixing it. Now stop with your making Assange the center of this... he's a nobody, he is not bigger than America, and our problems are certainly not bigger than our ability to fix them.

The cable showing the US Govt attempting to 'blackmail' the french into accepting Monsanto GM crops pretty much sinks any claim to be on the moral high ground.

I'm afraid thats perilously close to racketeering. [there is an active thread already on it].

I don't want Monsanto GM products in the EU entering our food supply. EU politicians know the people don't want them.

What we didnt know was the US has got ambassadors pushing GM products like a street dealer pushes coke. Thats news that should be known widely. No national security at stake there, just corporate influence peddling and corruption.

Hypocritical is saying what happened to Assange is somehow justified because he has been a party to the embarrassment of the US. If the OP felt that strongly about what Wikileaks had done and that it is wrong then they should be as much in opposition to leaks about Assange. All things being equal they are just whining like a spoiled child.

Has anyone got his actual statement? is the OP's article about his statement in full, or is it about a Q and A session, if a Q and A session then he is simply answering questions. I do not see a quoted statement in full in the article, just observations of what he may have said. Of course the article is quoting a Times interview, maybe the OP could throw out the quid to pay for same interview. That's just to put things in proper context, and so that people can comment appropriately. BTW as I post, the John Humphrey interview is being repeated on BBC, which is Q and A.

Missing from that list is Israel. it's missing because Julian Assange made a deal with the israelis not to release anything that would be damaging to them, specifically about "operation cast lead" in gaza, and the destruction of lebanon in 2006. He's not an america-hater at all. he's a gigantic limited hangout, being run by american and israeli intelligence. the stuff in those cables really isn't new. Assange isn't a truth-teller. it's a big misdirect. ignore him.

i think its ironic that this man is mad about his personal life being broadcast all over the world, when he is doing the same thing but with peoples lives.

you cant have your cake and eat it to

I agree with the OP. this guy is a nothing but a sexual predator and a coward. To all the people speaking against the United States concerning the "leaks" or this scumbag please stop. I will say this; if you are a citizen of the United States and hate it so much you have the freedom to leave. Use this freedom to go to one of the socialist oe communist countries your lot seem to love so much. However, once you leave do not come back when you realize the freedom you gave up just to have a boot on your throat from one of the "benevloent" dictators. If you are not from the United States, and hate our country so much that is fine too. We will not give anymore aid to any country no matter the circumstances, also if you happen to be invaded by one of your neighbors AGAIN, too bad you will not be saved again by us terrible Americans. By the way, you Europeans still owe us money from World War I and who knows how much from WWII, we would like that back in gold. Mabye once socialism completely fails over there you could just give us the land.

Ignore him on a blank statement like yours, you forget that Wikileaks is not JA alone. Do you also think that the Vast MSM, who have been caught on the hop...well not really, they were just afraid, are going to let this opportunity go? I don't think so, the MSM no longer have a choice anyway other than to return to credible reporting because they themselves, are now under scrutiny and they know it. Wait for the backlog of unreported World, and the current issues like Vince Cable, FIFA, Congress button vote pushers and God knows what else.

You mean the WWII where the Nazis were supplied and financed in part by US interests (Standard Oil/FMC ect ect)? Yeah thanks for that. Thats like breaking someones arm then expecting them to thank you for calling them an ambulance. American arrogance at its finest right there.

Please prove he made a deal with Israel.
I mean, I know you can't, but I would assume you think you have proof since you said it.
Why else would anyone say something like that unless they thought they could prove it?

He must have been reading Gordan Duff's copy and paste article swiped from a site with little to no credibility. Or Mike Rivero's daily rantings.

I'd also like to see that proof.

You don't have a personal life as public servant on the tax payer dime. Just like an employer snooping your email or looking over your back to make sure you aren't stealing, the people are looking over the backs of their Representatives. Your privacy rights change drastically once you step foot onto the workplace. The workplace and your personal life are two different things. There is a clear separation.

Vet Assange. I'm all for it. What I am against is seeing a persons rights violated to get that information.

Well I do not care of Assange personally, and I think WIki leaks is part of a larger plan.

That being said, I don't blame him for complaining one bit. There is a HUGE difference between what he does and what is now being done to him. Your attempt to link what WIkileaks does and compare it to posting details of one's sex life is like trying to compare apples to lawnmowers. Wiki leaks supposedly publishes information about Governments and what it is does in the name of it's citizens. Publishing what time of day and what position Assange likes to have sex? Well obviously one is important and the other is meaningless drivel.

Would you have a problem is your business practices were published for all to see? I wouldn't, but of course I handle business the way it should be and I do business honestly.

Would you like to have your sexual preferences and taste published for the whole world to see? I wouldn't, it's not the business of the public, it's the business of my partner.

When Wikileaks starts publishing and giving evidence of what Obama does in the privacy of his own bedroom, then I Will say you have a point. Until that day OP, your reaching and your logic is lacking.
