"Unauthorized disclosures of classified documents (whether in print, on a blog or on websites) do not alter the documents' classified status or automatically result in declassification of the documents," the OMB said.

"To the contrary, classified information, whether or not already posted on public websites or disclosed to the media, remains classified, and must be treated as such by federal employees and contractors, until it is declassified by an appropriate US government authority."

So we all knew that eventually it would come to this. It was just a matter of time. All federal employees and that includes our military can no longer view wikileaks information, including on ATS. So if you are reading this, and are an employee of the federal government you are hereby notified on authority of the White House that if you click some link and view some of the classified information being leaked, whether on ATS or a newspaper, or through any other source you are in violation of the law. By the way, do not turn on the news channels or read the paper anymore either because they are repeating the leaks there. Just be a good employee of the government and do as you are told. I smell a class action First Amendment claim for all government employees.

While this is sad at a human level the reality is this country is 'read-only'.

The people are disenfranchised and have no hope left.

An uprising would end with the next reality show or iPhone release.

How many travesties are required prior to becoming a patriot in the truest sense?

It's basicaly translated to " Don't Read it " lol.

But did it say anything about consequences ??

How would they even know if any employee's are reading these ??

Sounds like the captains trying to avoid a Mutiny, but in the end their only blowing smoke.

It's not "okay" for civilians to view it. That was only the first step. The next step is to make it illegal for civilians also.

You are probably right it is a scare tactic. They probably know that troop morale will suffer if they read what is coming down the pipe. The reactions by the Whitehouse seem overly done and the information released so far is not that damaging. It is appalling but not damaging yet. Maybe they know what is in these files that are being released.

If this still does not CONVINCE the common person that we are slaves, had been slaves for decades if not centuries, and so too will our future generations be, despite the blood spilt by founding fathers , than I know not nothing else would......

So the wikileaks had exposed a HUGE monumental drawer of lies by politicians for decades, so what? We are only humans, and even more so politicians. Mistakes had been made, errors in judgement had been handled out, etc, etc.

Whats MORE IMPORTANT is to own up to mistakes so as to correct them in order to progress for the sake of mankind, rather than to sweep it all under the carpet. Sooner or later, the truth will prevail ultimately. Better sooner than later as there are still chances to correct them, than later when all hopes and lives are lost.

Killing or incarcerating the messenger is utter only stupidity as humanity's civilisation record had shown. It speaks volume of the ego the masters. Had our politicians shed their democractic values and view themselves as authoritarian Emperors or potentates instead? Had this been what the founding fathers' blood been spilt for???

WOW, this is going to go over well with the general population. The White House just sank up to the lips in that brown smelly stuff on this idiocy.

Your spouse and kids can read the stuff but YOU, a federal employee can't

Add that to the hypocrisy of insisting on grope-N-fly for citisens but taking Arizona AND a rancher (now murdered) to court for trying to protect our borders.

Arizona rancher murdered by illegal immigrant

"Three days ago, Napolitano told an audience at Arizona State University that the border is more secure than ever," said Tancredo. "I challenge her-no I dare her to come to this community and try to sell that lie. The residents here know better."

... The Arizona rancher waged a 10-year battle against thousands of illegal immigrants who crossed into the country and onto his property. When Barrett stopped 16 Mexican Nationals at gunpoint on his land, the ACLU stepped in and brought a civil rights lawsuit against the Arizona rancher.

Local law enforcement officers refer to Barrett’s ranch as the “avenue of choice” for illegal immigrants to enter America illegally. Barrett put up with property damage, death of livestock and numerous home invasions.

The ACLU claimed in the lawsuit against Barrett that he inflicted emotional distress by holding the migrants at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose and shooting anyone who attempted to escape.

The Arizona rancher lost his case....

"If the people ever find out what we have done, they will chase us down the streets and lynch us.”- George H. W. Bush

I guess they are now worried about their own people too, will EVERYONE be on the terrorist watch list (snicker)

Isn't this the way it started around 1937 somewhere in Europe?

Sorry I'm going to E-Bay now to sell all my books before the bonfire starts.

Use the money to buy guns and ammo. While we still can.

I agree seekeroftruth101. It is time to open the books. We all understand nobody is perfect and people make mistakes. It is time to look at the flaws of our system. To think about how it could be better. To move forward in a better direction. Trying to stop the flow of information simply to hide the errors has become the ultimate corrupt act and has been occurring for decades. It is what brings nations to their knees and empowers the population to institute reforms. The corrupt are only making matters worse by standing in the way of human evolution and understanding. They are trying to keep us in the dark and hoping we continue to trust them.

Wouldn't that give them the right to also shut down All sites that have "TOP SECRET" Documents?

Sounds like they are squeezing the grip a little tighter now. Showing the people who the boss really is. We the people gave them their power and now we are past the point of no return.

Man, all i can say is good luck to all of us because we are gonna need it.

Our government is trying to shut the system down BEFORE the real damaging info comes out. Up until now it's been political BS and diplomatic BS. The best is yet to come.

Starting to look like a blackmail scheme to me. Mobs always kill the pets first, then they go after the owner.

You have t forgive my ignorance, but since when can the President create and pass laws? What is the Congress for then?

These people are out of control and they must be stopped at any cost. I love my country and it angers me that these people are trying to destroy it in order to enrich and empower themselves.

There was a time when Russia was seen, at least by myself, as a sort of evil empire. Any citizen who spoke up against the regime would end up in a gulag like Siberia, or in a cold grave. Even certain literature could get you in serious trouble. You couldn't trust anyone, not even your neighbours, for fear of being reported to the KGB.

Today, it looks like the U.S. has become what Russia once was....

Thats crazy.
Basically, we have a government that was created with a system of checks and balances that no longer checks and balances itself and will do everything to make sure people are blind to the fact. Great.

The President can create laws by executive order which can later be approved or revoked by congress. If congress takes no action, the "law" or order is "approved". This ruling seems to affect only the executive branch though, and as head of the executive branch he can promulgate rules for them. As to whether this ruling is legal or not is certainly open to debate.

Exactly. It is time, past time for the people to take back some of our power. We have let too much slide through our fingers due to lack of diligence, not to say pure laziness.
