I am not going to debate whether Ancient Alien Theory is a viable one or not, just as I wouldn't debate God exists or not. But recently with all the shows, the books and the experts pointing to our existence here on Earth being somehow interrelated to aliens I can't help but see a movement forming.
Are we seeing the birth of a new religious movement in Ancient Alien Theory, where God has been replaced by alien life forms?
I am no expert on this field of study but I've watched the shows and read some of the books, the similarities that coincide with mainstream society and science seem too coincidental to brush off. If aliens were to land here and tell us it is all true, what we are thinking, how would we treat them now, like the religious disciples of our past? I see a great problem with this and some of you might understand where I'm leading to.
So I ask for opinions on this subject.
Also would you bow to our new found founders if they do come? Would you drop your faiths knowing everything told in human religion was a lie when it happens?

I debated whether or not to put this in the religious section or here, please excuse me if I was wrong Mods.

Star and Flag!

My thoughts exactly!!! I am currently in the process of writing a paper or short book about this. I will definitely make a thread of my theory, analysis, and arguments.

I am happy to see I am not alone in my view of ancient astronaut theory! It feels good to see other people being sceptical about the claims. Thank you

If so, one would still have to ponder the question, "If the aliens made us, who or what created the aliens?" The fundamental question of how we--and the universe--came into being remains the same, only with an extra layer of complexity.

And a fascinating one at that. I've long believed that ETs had something to do with with the origin of humanity (alien-Earth primate DNA splice? Who knows...), but the real question of how everything got here, always was here, or what have you, is much bigger than just how WE got here.

I'm not prepared to deify the greys anytime soon, even if they landed on the White House lawn tomorrow and explained it all to us.

This is not a new theory, myself and other posters on ATS have been pointing out for some time that not only is a belief in UFO’s and aliens are a form of religion but conspiracy based beliefs in general are in fact religious beliefs.

The argument is therefore that they should be treated as being religious believes. Here are a couple of my basic arguments for calling conspiracies a religion, if you do a search you will probably find some better threads on the subject. It is by no means a new idea and can be applied to any conspiracy belief including any surrounding the paranormal or extraterrestrials.

www.abovetopsecret.com... Do we need to believe in conspiracies?

www.abovetopsecret.com... Conspiracies are a form of religion.

When you think of the options we've been given for how we came about, there are usually 2, evolution and Christian God creation, neither of these comes close to getting it right. Turns out though, ancient alien theory solves all of the problems with these two and is certainly the only thing that makes sense, it's basically the only legitamate option. I can't stand when people, sadly you included, think that saying aliens created us means there is no God, that is what every Christian complains about. Many ancients texts actually speak about this difference, aliens were our Makers, not our Creators, the Talmud Jmmanuel makes that point very directly. Like with the 2 options of how we got here, there's also the whole Christian God or no God, both of these are absurd though. But when you realize that the Creator is also the Creation, than it's very easy to see how God and ancient aliens can be reconciled. These aliens had permission from the creator to make us, there were many roles that we filled by being created. We are all God, but it's easier to think of high frequency energy, god light, having to downshift into denser energy, this is what allows the "physical" universe to exist. Our soul "group" or "familys" and "oversouls" work this way too, it's like a fractal. We are all God, but there is still a "God" that has a personality and makes decisions like saying that we are going to ascend at the end of this cycle. But this God is just the upper echelon (it's obviously not a pyramid hiearchy), the most refined God-light, and just like we have personalities/self and our oversoul, our group of souls, also has a personality/self and so on and so forth. So even though "God" says it's cool to create humanity, it doesn't mean there is a God seperate from us. And to say that aliens created us, doesn't mean that there isn't a higher, etheric, intelligence that is managing and assisting in all affairs, he's just not YHWH, YHWH was one of these ancient aliens. But to say that ancient aliens is a religion is you trying to put it down, religion has become a loaded and slightly derogatory word these days, and that means that this thread will go nowhere and will cause plenty of fighting, so thanks a lot. Ancient Aliens, the New Age Movement, the Anti-NWO movement, and the Tea Party are all good examples of grass root movements that become popular, then people want to start giving them labels and leaders and such, this then just degrades them and keeps discussion on unimportant issues. Organization isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make something no longer legitimate.

You can call anything a religion, I'm in the Religion of South Park. It's now a loaded and derogatory word, please stop throwing it around like this.

I'm not sure I'd call it religion as such but I do think it's starting to 'replace' religion. People seem to need a belief system.

People grasping for the answer to everything is nothing new.

Those without a recognised faith either keep an open mind or replace religion with something in their opinion is more rational. Trouble is they seem to take irrational leaps of faith to fill gaps or answer the unanswerable.

I agree that ‘ancient aliens’ appears to be the latest in a long line of replacement god figures. To me this is a shame as I feel we could learn a lot from this approach of viewing our past even if it’s only value is to challenge the accepted views to put up a better case.

The thirst to create yet another god angers those that choose not to accept faith as a basis to describe our part within life which results in them dismissing any views or research in the field as over active imaginations or based in the wacky fringe.

This leaves those that are genuinely asking the questions frustrated, isolated and pushed aside. These results in the two opposing groups fighting like kids, throwing insults at each other and the real research lost in the noise.

I just wish people could be patient, gather the evidence and let the conclusion evolve naturally but this will not happen in our ‘instant answers now’ world.

sincerlysarcastic

Evolution is not meant to and cannot explain how life started. It explains how life evolved once it did. So your premise of how it is used is wrong which is your mistake not a failing of the theory.

You're getting carried away with what's nothing butt an awful TV show that will soon be forgotten. Do you really think that the questionable material that is shown will influence ALL watchers so that they start forgetting about their ingrained religious beliefs and replace them with just as questionable beliefs?

It doesn't matter how much you read or watch, none of it is based on historical fact. It couldn't be and not change religious beliefs. You don't want to debate whether god exists or not but you treat god as real by asking if it's being replaced by alien life forms. There is no evidence for any god, there is no evidencce for alien life forms. And there are no experts in either field, it's all in the mind.

Im in no way attacking your comment here just the whole concept of the phrase as thats the phrase that all religions past and present seem to be based on..

I mean in theory lets say that a race of ets created life on this planet and another race of beings created them....now this even though far fetched i could believe ,though i suppose its more plausible than christianity in my opinion.

But in the scale of things when you take it to a universal scale as in every galaxy out there and all the concepts of time existance and everything I just think its pure arrogance to try to define the undefinable. And this is my big problem with religion because how in hell can we begin to think of an entity as good evil right or wrong , how can we endow an omnipitent force with the feelings of mankind.
For me this is where religion loses the battle, i mean theres no way someones gonna tell me that a force who created space time and reality really gives a damn if i go to church on sunday or sleep with my nieghbours wife.

Great post! i'm sure you"ll get lots of opinions...My opinion, "human race" has been DNA altered by aliens.. archeologists, scientists and "'religion" (religion IMO is a means of donating time, money & your soul if there is such a thing.. ) "faithfully" to PAY someone to read a freaking book to you!!!. gimme a break...I wouldnt call the "ancient aliens" disciples.. but rather as what they are.. "ancient aliens"... to human knowledge, thats what they are.. not gods.. not disciples... and NO I would'nt bow to them..!! but id give them the upmost respect they deserve!!!, because they obviously can do things us 'humans" cannot yet.. just because they have not become hostile to 'as a majority' to the human race, ( their construction)... (set aside "abductions, mutilations area 51, dulce, etc..).For as the "bible" and numerous other ancient texts (way before the bible papers).. AA's (ancient aliens) most definatley and still.... visit this planet..!!! as for your question to me, no i'm sure there would'nt be a "new religious" "movement"... but rather than a " scientific" "undebunkable" ("hopefully not a WAR over "WHO" landed and said "hi"..because of religous extremist, ) ( including all religions), realization of what we really are!!... , manipulations of life on this planet, learning are past, present, and looking to the future

I think that it is an interesting question and I guess I can only speak for myself --- but imho, no I don’t think that Alien’s are going to replace God. (at least not for me)

I remember in school we discussed that in a way “science/scientific facts/knowledge” has become like the “word of God” for some people, with Physicians and Scientists (ect) acting as ministers and prophets --- sent to save us from our ills.

And I think that there is some truth in that. Some people do look at “scientific facts” as some people view the scripture – as rigid, inalienable truth. Despite the obvious truth that most scientific facts often evolve as we gather new information.

I do think that some people will go ape sh*t crazy and look to the ET’s for our salvation --- just as others will go bat sh*t crazy and try to shoot anything that moves. (should aliens decide to come to earth for a visit)

My best advice if Aliens ever do publically land on earth --- is to stay calm and try to examine as many facts as possible before rushing to any conclusions one way or another. (However --- in the process, and perhaps this is the Canadian in me--- but it’s probably for the best that we (the human race) be extremely polite and gracious to our Alien guest. Lest they squash us!

Lol, I likely shouldn’t admit this and please take it with a grain of salt considering the source. But something that freaked me out a bit in the movie “the 4th kind” which I guess was based on “real” events -- was when the Aliens said “We are your Gods!”

And I dunno, but all I could think of was Zachira’s interpretation of the Summarian tablets --- which stated that humans were created by the Annunaki in order to dig for Gold. (So we’re like a slave race) And I dunno about you guys, but I don’t really think I have the upper body strength for some serious diggin...I guess I could start working out...hmmm...would potato chips count as appropriate arm weights? One, lift and chomp, Two, lift and chomp...hehe. Maybe I would make a good slave for the aliens.

But I digress lol --- cool thread, ty!

I think the OP's question is valid and in the correct forum.

I thought there was already a major religion based on ET, Scientology

As for no evidence. Religion is about faith and does not require evidence and so the question of is AA being used by a growing number of people to replace the old school religions is valid and worthy of discussion.

This forum is full of fuzzy lights in the sky being identified as proof that can only be attributed to peoples need to believe.

Visitations, abductions, miraculous events that defy explanation in the various books associated with religious groups is mirrored in with some claims by the AA/UFO groups and can easily be likened to religious belief. Even the faked evidence appears in each group.

My worry is the apparent disregard and misrepresentation of subjects like evolution which to me is a done deal and the readiness of people to believe almost without question on ideas with very little substance.

I wouldnt go as far as calling it a new religion.... I am a spirtualist, I believe in God, do I see him as a white haired white man sitting on a throne in the clouds? No I dont ... I believe there is a Devil, Do I see him as a half man half beast who is red with horns? No I dont.. I see God as the most purest of pure energy, Love, happiness, understanding and peace.... I see the Devil as the most negative energy there is, hate, jelousy, greed, anger...

I do not see Aliens as "God/or Gods" maybe our earlier ancestors did, but I wouldnt. I would see them as creations. And my god is the CREATOR of all things. I would not bow to them, as I wouldnt want them bowing to me, or if we found a younger civilization on another planet I wouldnt expect them to bow to us.... I see the ancient alien theory as a way to ANSWER alot of unanswerable questions that have plagued mankind for many many years! So what if they manipulated our DNA to make us smarter, that doesnt make them god, atleast not to me, that just makes them scientists in my book.

I find it interesting you have made this thread now, because out of all the religions, theories of creation, theories of why we are here... The Ancient Alien Theory makes a lot more sense to me than anything else. I was raised Catholic, became an Atheist when I was 16. I am still an Atheist, but I am carefully considering that the Ancient Alien Theory might actually be true.

I cannot give you specific example right now, but it's the only theory that explains how come many religions have similar gods or maybe even the same one under the same name (Tara, anyone?). I really want to research more about this theory and would love it if you guys gave me a hand, because unfortunately this "underground" theory doesn't have much material to research. I genuinely find this theory to be fascinating. It's the only thing that comes to mind that also explains the ancient paintings of people seeing people floating, ships, aliens, etc., and even more, this theory makes me wonder about the Astronaut you can find in the Nazca Lines. It's simply fascinating, I can't stress it enough.

anyone who has been researching ancient aliens or even the fact that we are genetically altered species having our evolution from the "ape man" jump started as our brains tripled in size is such a short time span to short infact for it to have been nature

knows that the only thing the aliens did was alter our avatar this body we inhabit is only a vehicle for our spiritual energy to experience the physical realm when we die our spiritual energy will cycle through the universe until its time to manifest in the physical again you see the life cycle is more then our bodies turning to grass for the antelope to eat

as told in the lion king its deeper b/c that is only the visible the physical side of the cycle the other part is your spiritual energy cycles aswell..we are all the universe and the universe is us this physical realm is is because the universal consciousness imagines itself as is you see we are all one all our minds are little pieces to an even bigger mind that is a smaller piece to an even greater mind its like ur body

u pinch ur toe well ur toe is alive and conscious hints why u feel pain b/c that consciousness is connected to your consciousness so ur body being all kinds of seperate living organisms making up an even bigger living organism YOU everyhting becomes symmetrical..so with all this being said the aliens are jus as much us as we are them b/c we are all apart of the universe we are all a smaller portion that makes up and even bigger portion that makes up and even greater one

its all inifinite so with this being said i would not bow to aliens there is no need to they are not god but at the sametime they are god as we are god god is everything b/c without everything there could be no god!

get it?

I despair of the 'ancient aliens' shows and websites. Someone's inability to conceive that humans can evolve like the other animals or build stuff without the help of aliens, has turned into this bastardised concept. It's similar to religion in presenting humans as someone else's creation, but I think that's about as close to religion as it's gotten so far...

The idea is as old as the 20th Century UFO enigma. From the 1940s, some guys were beginning to claim that the pyramids had been built by 'ancient astronauts.' Even Baalbeck was claimed to have been carved by visiting aliens as far back as 1960. In my opinion, it's people mixing sci-fi/fantasy with their reality. They've chosen to live in a magical world where ancient monuments are carved by space-tech and we are all lab experiments by kind/evil aliens. Museums have locked basements with hidden skeletons of giants and reptilian overlords wear human flesh-suits to pass as Presidents.

Here's s couple of clippings from Flying Saucer Review in 1960...

while u do make a tiny bit of sense i can tell u havent watched any of the ancient aliens series that has came out this year and while i watch the shows pretty biasedly i can tell u i dont buy into everything they say but there are a few things that make more sense to me on them shows then anything else i've ever heard!

i think maybe u should watch them so that u can argue against them just as i have read the bible so i can shove christianitys hypocritical b/s in there own mouths! they dont get on there and talk about david ickes nonesense or even get into any sitchins stuff...they provide actual things found on earth..such as the city of dwarka recently found off the coast of india and the dragons and burmuda triangle found on the 25th parallel on the earth!

i'm not gonna get into alot of it here b/c it would be nonesense! either way we are god! like it or not! idk why man looks all over for god when god is right in front of there eyes! god cant exist without everything and everything cannot exist without god in essence we are all apart of something that is infinite..such as each muscle in ur body has its own consciousness that connects to one consciousness u..u connect to a consciousness that is the earth..and the earth to the solar system and the solar system to the galaxy and the galaxy to the universe..

dont believe me research spirituality, the pineal gand and all that and then practice it and tell me again its all b/s! not gonna happen bub!
