Mr. Carlisle said in 1878 that this was a struggle between the idle holders of idle capital and the struggling masses who produce the wealth and pay the taxes of the country; and my friends, it is simply a question that we shall decide upon which side shall the Democratic Party fight. Upon the side of the idle holders of idle capital, or upon the side of the struggling masses? That is the question that the party must answer first; and then it must be answered by each individual hereafter. The sympathies of the Democratic Party, as described by the platform, are on the side of the struggling masses, who have ever been the foundation of the Democratic Party.
There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that if you just legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, that their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous their prosperity will find its way up and through every class that rests upon it.

Actually, Obama has tried to work with the GOP often the last two years, but the GOP has stonewalled any effort at bipartisanship. The POTUS should have told the GOP to take a jump in a lake. But now, I think that he should work with Republicans in order to make them look bad.

See, I am thinking purely of strategic political value here, if the Democrats want to turn this into their advantage, they will have to compromise on issues with the GOP. The GOP's hard line stance here can be used against them.

I would love to see cooperation coming from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill. The hard line stance from both sides isn't going to cut it with those who turned out in massive numbers last week. The people want to see action and SOME Democrats and Obama have to realize that the policies did in fact play a major role in the outcome of the election. The sooner they can grip that the better for the entire nation. Obama blaming his poor leadership and communication skills for the major upset does not cut it. It merely illuminates his ignorance to a new level. I find that rather disturbing!!
Republicans are going to hold strong in order to pull back on these poor policy decisions. They have to! I guarantee that they will gain more support from democrats as the actions to scale back actually move forward.
Obama and his die hards are going to have to lead the way with concessions if we are ever going to achieve harmony again. It all rolls downhill folks. I long for the political climate of the Reagan years when they could all duke it out on the Hill during the day and then tell some jokes over a beer and a scotch in the evening.

Republicans and / or democrats don't have to do anything but wait for the other party to become unpopular while driving the so called PTB / shadowy overlord / military industrial CIA complex/ etc agenda..
I know, it's insane that people still believe they are doing anything else. WHAT will it take for people to wake up?
