It seems like the broadcast has started now, they are giving some info about the mission and the comet.
Used to be you could record nasa tv with real player but it wont let me so I give up.

Cool keep us posted pazcat. S&F for the info update and sorry for embedding within your thread. Its just interesting we were told about a green celestial object that will be broadcasted on tv (BY THE AGENCY). But I guess no one is sensing.

I am aware of said 'prediction' but like I said, I'm going to have to say it is unrelated. This comet is well past us and we have already gone through what would of been it's debris trail amongst other things.
If things change I will be the first to put my hand up and say I was wrong.

I think it's as good as it gets.
My guess is later when they hold the press conference they will offer a download of somekind.

Oh the high gain antenna connected now. Hopefully they will have video available for download. I was hoping to see some footage lol.

Every time I hear the words Deep Impact, I remember the movie.
Spewing green? I hope its not Kryptonie (superman, you better run).
Kidding aside, I am wondering, though, is the comets tail going to hit the earth at any point? Would the Cyanide do something in regards to our atmosphere and the air we breather?

I was told by a friend not long ago, that sometime in February, the shuttle will make a quick landing before schedule, and if that happens, better hunker down for something big. My friends "hunches" out of the blue through the years were often correct.

Well, we have already passed through the debris cloud for this comet only a couple of days ago and it didn't produce any huge meteor shower and we are all still here breathing fine.
I would expect that any trace of cyanide would be burned up in the atmosphere pretty much instantly anyway.
So there is no need to worry about being poisoned from above this time around.

edit: Yep it's gone past and we went through it's dust trail on the 2nd/3rd of November.

That's a good question, it is probably being released from inside the comet as it heats up when it's nearer the sun, I'd be interested to know what exactly it is made of and where it came from.
I'm not sure if the data will mean many changes to the thinking that it is likely to last another 700 years barring a major split, but if this comet is that active who knows.
The comet is also one that should come around every seven years so in 2017 we may get to see any changes.
