Just out of interest, is Kermit the frog Canadian? Serious question, lol. Like I said I am starting to notice the difference, and I have his voice running through my head, and that ummm bit strikes a chord. (no I don't hear Kermits voice in my head on a regular basis, before anyone asks, lmao)

....umm...okay okay, i think there is a conspiracy going on in this thread, i am sure that some of you out there are purposely trying to make me spill my coffee over the keyboard due to uncontrollable laughter. ....

It's impossible to mistake a Scot. Check this out.

First, for those non-Canadians Chretien was our Prime Minister, from Shawinigan. The GST is an unpopular tax, the Goods and Services Tax.

No really. I was there, and I heard the comment myself. The kilts prompted some relative of the bride to say "I didn't know the groom was Polish".

It CAN happen !

Maybe Canada is not so much like the US of A. Maybe they are not even friends. I mean there has been a long standing tension between each other over the years but maybe that is now being put behind as people either grow up or people find a common group outside of themselves to target.

Its a good thing because lets face it if Amereeka decided to invade Canada tomorrow sometime after breakfast, including finding their way there and navigating the french signs, "job done" should be somewhere around Noon in time for lunch.

Sensitivity is not such a bad thing and I am wondering why Canadians take it so offensively?

Canada is also the free(est) place when it comes to Downloading films and Music so that to me is a BIG bonus. And I think they are pushing for even less restrictions. Now we are talking.

So I applaud you Canadians for some things and stop taking the sensitivity thing to heart.

Its good to see a people who exude tolerance and passiveness. Its good to see sensitive men for a change instead of the manly ones I normally encounter. I think there are some women that like that that like a man who can cry and walk a small dog. Its good to see a large mix of backgrounds and cultures descend on Canada and add to its charm.

I do admit its good to see a country just entering puberty and wondering how it will flourish.

I am going to make it my mission to go to Churchill one day and see the whales (Normally if I want to see whales I have to travel to Texas.)

Try asking a Scotsman if he's Irish, or vise versa.

I've never heard so much swearing in my life.

Why would any person not canadian want to learn "Oh Canada"? It is unsingable. It sounds like it was written by the same person who wrote "Advance Australia Fair".

"The Star Spangled Banner" is wretched and unsingable also. I'm not playing favorites.

BTW, if Canadians are so hot not to be mistaken for americans, what the h*ll did they have to get into Afghanistan for? You people don't have enough moslems at home, you had to go halfway around the world to make them mad at you too? And Ozzies. Why'd you Australians get into that mess? To make the world safe for opium poppy growers? Bush's lapdogs, I say. When Bush f*rted, the Canadian and Australian PMs thanked him and told him how good it smelled.

Funny you would mention that, i have a very close Irish friend, well his dad was an active supposedly ira member but now in his late 60's to early 70's he still view's that the U.K. did invade Ireland but has no issue as his come to terms with the "new world order" brainwashing trip drummed into everyone's mind through the idiot box. Sorry for the off topic post, just thought i would add this into the thread.

That's fairly simple to answer, its called the (UKUSA) Agreement.

LMFAO Tristar, "This was a secret treaty, allegedly so secret that it was kept secret from the Australian Prime Ministers until 1973."

So every prime minister of Oz had no idea his country had entered into an intelligence treaty with the rest of the English speaking nations?? That's kind of funny!

TPB that kept TPB in the dark about TPB

The Wikipedia article is basically correct, but that has nothing to do with "boots on the ground".

Totally agree, then again who ever said that politicians actually know what the hell they are doing. I have come to terms with the old saying, trial and error, its seems to be the normal way of doing politics in our day and age.

I could actually see that as being true. Do you think the CIA tells the president everything? I seriously doubt it.

Correct, at the end of the day, its all about the foot soldiers. Sadly they are the first and last on the endless list of casualties.

Why? Because it's about learning and tolerating other cultures. Try it some time. You might expand your horizons.

To back up our American brothers. Well the ones that appreciate us. That wouldn't be you.

When Bush f*rted, the Canadian and Australian PMs thanked him and told him how good it smelled.

Damn, what is with all the ignorance tonight? We didn't go into Iraq though.

Got any more insults?

A fun thread, I'll try to add something.

A lot of people have been saying stuff about introverted nature of the canadian people. Well that doesn't apply to us French Canadian (I dont like saying quebecois in english, sounds weird, even in writing) We are very welcoming and warm... not sure if that's the right wording.

True story. When I went to Australia, I was invited to a BBQ. On a side note, nothing beats Australian BBQ. So whatever, we drank a good couple of beers nice evening and all. At the end I shake hands with the host and then kiss the wife of the host on both cheeks, as I do with a lot of my female friends and acquaintances. The reactions were incredibly funny to witness. So awkward.

Asides from that, the hitler-girl posted some incredibly misinformed stuff... wow. I'll chuck it up to trolling.

Finally some precisions about the whole Quebec wanting to leave Canada thing. It's mostly a thing of the past. It was popular in the 90s, it died down after that failed referendum. Nowadays it's mostly a party line that can't be abandonned because the Bloc Quebecois is built upon that concept. You can really see their half-heartedness when they have to answer questions about it. Some people still believe in it and would like to see it happend but most don't care.

Oh yeah the beer. You guys should really try micro brewed quebec beer. My god, we might have stolen most of our beer concepts from belgium but we sure as hell understood how to produce it. And nobody can drink like a Quebecer!

Try to get your hands on the Dieu Du Ciel, hibiscus beer or the "Fin Du Mode" from Unibroue.

ETA : It might not look it, but I'm more proud of being Canadian than French Canadian. Also I would be irritated at being compared to an american. Although I doubt it would happen because of the french accent.

Canadians invent and build useful items, like basketball, the blackberry, the pealess whistle, and ColdFX, IMAX, insulin, first patented lightbulb, Stanley Cup, SUPERMAN, telephone, and the washing machine, just to name a few!

Americans invent useful things as well, see the difference? Colt revolver, The Atomic Bomb, Oil well, The Assembly Line, Kevlar, Microwave Oven, The Nuclear Power Plant, The Rocket, Sneakers, just to name a few!

Canadians make fun of Americans because they are gullible and think we live in igloos and eat seal blubber year round! They also think we have polar bears roaming the streets and eating our young. That's all fine with us Canadians because it keeps the Americans out. hee hee hee.

We also have REAL beer! 5% to 7%. So when we drink a case of 12 we feel real good!

For 4-6 months of the year we have SNOW. sometimes lots of it and most of us know not to use cruise control in it, and the only time we engage the 4x4 is when we get stuck-----not all the time!

We have provinces and not states. we have a prime minister, not a president.

Canadians are friendly for the most part. we have jim carry and michael j fox and wayne gretzkey!
