A group calling itself U.S. Boat to Gaza is seeking $370,000 in the next month to send the ship in an effort to thwart the Israeli blockade on the Palestinian enclave controlled by the militant group Hamas.

A number of other prominent individuals are listed as support the appeal, including Angela Y. Davis and Alice Walker.

"We turn to you to help make the U.S. boat, The Audacity of Hope, a reality. We must raise at least $370,000 in the next month," the appeal says. "These funds will be used to purchase a boat large enough for 40-60 people, secure a crew, and cover the licensing and r

I personally see this as a money grab... Load it up, be controversial as hell, rack in the cash, set sail, get escorted to Egypt, win-win-lose situation.

Even if this does set sail, no pun, it will be a non-incident.

Israel will probably think twice before killing anyone on that ship... or maybe not... if you remember USS Liberty.

Well I would love to volunteer to be on the crew of that boat!

It was an angry sea that day as we spied the Gaza coast, and out of the mist steamed the drab gray Israeli Gun Boat.

I hithered to the bow of the ship and wiped the salty sea mist from my looking glass and spied the Israeli Captain staring back at me.

We recognized one another having met years before at the nude beach in Miami. Clearly her desperated attempts to get a green card failed and she had been deported.

Would she hold it against me, or would she whisper once more in my ear, aye, aye captain?

A slight smile formed upon her lips, as one formed on mine, as she signalled to her first officer to cut the engines and seal the gun ports.

She pulled out a long black cylander which turned out to be a flash light which she started flashing morse code with.

I smiled, the aide would get through this day, and tonight...well...

The bought and paid for US politicians will be working overtime to make sure this never sets sail. Hell, I am sure they can even come up with some lame excuse that the organisers are aiding terrorists and will lock them up.

Americans are no safer than anyone else. The Israelis already executed / murdered one American citizen, after boarding a boat in international waters, and the US political response was non-existent. That just shows the level of support US citizens can expect from their leaders, when up against Israel.

Street organizers can pound the pavement for isolated small elections,, and win with their wits..

But national elections need money, lot's of money, and you can't get money from the street.

You need support from the back room big dogs with big pockets.

Irony would be the Israelis learning their lesson, and quietly disabling the screws at sea resulting in the headlines;
