Is that a typo?

It seems to me to be physically impossible to be handcuffed and have your hands hanging to the sides.

Unless there is an unusually log chain that separates each cuff, in which case why bother with cuffs at all?

Just sayin' that's all.

ah duality. these are the consequences. i'd just like to ask, if humans from the beginning saw no god as better, no animal as lesser, no heaven to covet, no hell to fear, and we were taught humans were god, and how to function properly, would we be in this seeming hell, or would it more resemble heaven? if we werent taught that theres a reward, wouldnt we make this the reward?

of course we'd have a serious population problem, and we wouldve thousands of years ago. but we'd already be way technologically advanced. and probably be on multiple planets.

but i'm an idiot apparently. certainly a lone wolf with this idea. but until you live a life as peaceful, stressless, loving, and fulfilling as mine, you cant really say i'm wrong or right. try it

Good luck bringing about change; especially in Amerika which sentences more people to death each year than just about any country -- right up there with China.

Right up there with China, huh? And you know this how? Because of the free and open way that KChina gives it's statistics to the rest of the world?

If you believe or defend that, you are a naive fool.

My favorite is where they feed you a cord. and keep feeding it to you till it comes out the other end.

Then they slowly pull each end.

If there is absolutely, positively no doubt about the person's guilt in committing a crime, let the punishment fit it,but those who do the punishing cannot lower themselves to the same level as the criminal and commit the same crime against him, such as killing him for killing another.

The system was set up to avoid prosecuting/punishing the innocent, the founders realized that there will always be people who commit heinous crimes, but not so much as happen today.

Many people are in prison for violating a codified law which they cannot understand without the help of a lawyer, who is part of the system prosecuting the victim for the violation.

Many of these people are in prison for crimes which have no real victim, according to the constitution, there being no damage to a person,a person's property,or any monetary loss, there is no crime committed.

What happened here?,The "Uniform Commercial Code" happened here, something most know nothing about........

The problem here is that people are not taught what they need to know before they are responsible for their actions when they reach a certain age.

Most people in america are like naive children, and I literally mean "most",like naive spoiled little babies who throw tantrums and lash out at anyone they see as being weaker than themselves.

Bring back the republic, this democracy stuff really scares the crap outta me.

Since I am considered to be one of the weak ones,I am made a target regularly, luckily I am more than meets the eye,but someday I will be old and in need of defense from the spoiled little babies I am surrounded by .

Anyway..........

I agree, I don't understand the gun porn mentality of some U.S citizens.
Why do you need to bare arms? - To protect yourselves from the British?

I'm not trying to be inflamatory here I just don't get it either...maybe thats why U.S cops carry guns - because your average joe has a right to carry a gun themselves?

I don't ever want to see constables carrying firearms, armed response yes but not bobbys.....trigger happy cops can do alot of damage.

The relationship with the police here (UK) is a freindly one, I've been on nights out and joked around winding them up - but there is a mutual respect...the public shouldn't be intimidated by police...criminals should be deterred.

It is understood that harming another human being is barbaric and uncivil now, where do we go from here? First of all we should find a solution to this barbarism. To do this, the first step we must take is to understand the cause of the barbarism.
Punishment is born out of an unintelligent way to find "justice". This method of finding justice is applied because the person's government (or other similar entity) lost control over the person or people. Governments want control over their people because it helps to maintain their societies civility. The "trouble" comes in when the governments try to use an uncivil action (punishment) to maintain and further their civility. Doesn't something seem wrong with this? Surly you wouldn't pour gasoline on a fire just because it's a liquid. That would make the fire more dangerous! In the same way you wouldn't punish a criminal just because it would "quiet them down" temporarily. The end result is that it would just make them even more hostile.
Instead of trying to maintain civility through incivility they should try to maintain civility with discipline or, an ethical method of control.
All criminals are truly in need of help, no matter how "evil" they seem. The truth to their life of crime is an inability to communicate effectively and only rarely someone recognizes and tries to stop this.

I don't understand why people in the UK let there government put cameras everywhere, weight monitoring devices hidden in there trashcans, speed cameras now even in space, fees to drive into capitol cities, VAT them to death force a bunch of crappy diesel crap boxes and 8 dollar a gallon gas and waltz into any house they want because your un armed.

People in the US have guns because that's the world we live in - there are guns out there, the number of them cant be controlled , police are just hired to defend us but the full responsibility of that lies on people individually.

So go ahead and give up what little you have left to your government to divy up and look with jacked up grills at your far west Atlantic superpower with envy I guess.

We on the other hand have to deal with a porous border and people that can buy unnumbered weapons from countries like Venezuela and Israel and bring them into the US for criminal use and then try to blame us because the 8% that are traceable come from the US, which is actually from the 550 million in military aid the US gives them and then disappears into the wild when they defect from the police force.

Ack!! Some of these are scary, but thats the point isnt it? I think some of them are to the extreme, like amputation and I find the stoning the most disturbing. The other side of the coin is that these folks knew what the consequences were. I think the circumstances of the theft should play into the punishment, I mean, if amputation is the punishment maybe someone who steals food should be punished in a different way. The woman who was stoned asked to be punished that way.
That guy that blinded the lady...I think he was punished accordingly. He took away a lifetime of sights. She'll miss out on looking into her loves eyes, if anyone one will have her. Seeing her child born, smile or walk. She'll not read again or enjoy the wonders of seeing Our beautiful planet. Yeah, that guy shouldnt have those privileges either.
Beheading..not much different than any other form of death due to crime..deads dead. I might even prefer beheading to electric chair or injection. My friend lived in Saudi about 15 years ago, american guy. Everyone was forced to the center of town and made to watch, no questions asked.
The guy who CHOSE to die by firing squad did just that...he chose to do it. I think if someones going to be put to death that they should have the choice as to how it's done, that is if the victims family chooses not to decide. Obviously being gutted would be cruel and unusual punishment. I'd def prefer firing squad as opposed to the other methods. The only thing I wouldnt like is being restrained before hand. I'd wanna stand, I'm sure of it. I'd bawl like the girl I am but I'd rather stand.
It's sad but the fact of the matter is, that everyone one of these ppl knew the consequences of their crime and chose to commit them anyway.
I feel like an ass even posting some of these things because they are too extreme and I dont agree with a lot of them. It is what it is. Does it work to prevent future crimes? Probably not, but I wouldnt send a child killer to 'therapy' either. Theres no therapy in the world that'd cure a serial killer.
I'm also sure I couldnt forgive anyone who hurt a loved one of mine. I'd not only want them dead, I'd do it myself if I could...slow and painful. Does that make me an evil person? Probably. Would I care? No.

edit for spelling and adding more to the post.

I completely agree. If you kill a murderer, just or not, you're being one as well. The murderer did not have a right to kill another person, just as you don't have a right to kill him.

If someone kills your brother, and you kill him, someone would kill you, and then someone would kill him.. It is a loop.

So, yes, 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind' makes sense.

The problem is that nothing seems to point out the right direction.

Make them watch thousands of hours of reality tv, now thats torture ! but in the end, I have to believe that some people are pure evil and there's only one thing to do with pure evil and thats end it by any means possible or necessary. I don't think in this instance, throwing rocks at some women serves anything. it's not like she's ted bundy or something like that.

SO, you can say America is brutal, but those criminals killed in American prisons by electrocution/etc have done much MUCH worse crimes than in other less-free countries of the world.

... except for the ones executed in spite of having been wrongly convicted. How many people have been wrongly convicted and put to death because they were black, or homeless, or mentally ill?

It happens all the time. The problem with the death penalty is that even when its discovered that it was done in error you can't take it back.

Read the first 3 pages, and saw this wasn't mentioned, and the thread was turning to a debate on capital punishment. So I skipped ahead, sorry if this has been posted before, but this "device" always scared me just at the site of it....

The Pear

My all time worst nightmare. Of course you can insert this in the mouth OUCH! the anus, or the vagina.

again sorry if this has been posted before.

As far as Lethal injection goes though, that is TOO GOOD for some criminals.

I'd rather see child rapists and murderers suffer The Pear, then get dissected, the way the guy did to his families murderer in the film "Law abiding Citizen".

Basically he gives him a drug that paralizes him, but lets him feel all pain. Constant blood transfusions and other medical apparati' to keep him alive for as long as possible... then start on the toes with a pair of tin snips. Have a hacksaw handy, maybe an acetalyne torch ect. Now THAT imho is what child rapist and murderers deserve.

Either that or just hand the psycho over to the family of the deceased, and let them use thier imaginations.

Sure some may choose to forgive, and give him life inj prison (yes now I'm on the capital punishment debate). But what of the true stories of these sick individuals getting mistakenly paroled, or escaping, and doing it again. What do you tell THAT family???

I see your most barbaric punishments, and I raise you with:

One of the many ancient torture methods of the Chinese. I tell ya, we are one inventive race when it comes to torture.

How does it sound so have you tied up, and someone will forcefully remove each of your finger nail slowly from each finger/feet. Then soak them in salt water

Sounds like fun....

I for one would like to know how many of you that are so -against- capital punishment are -for- abortion?

Before you answer, let me describe what happens during a typical abortion[MURDER]. The fetus[victim]is removed from the uterus except for the head. Scissors are used to puncture just under the rear of the skull to create a hole. A vaccuum tube is forced into this hole and the brains are vaccuumed out.

This IMO is the most inhumane act that can be done to a living thing. Defenseless. Sanctioned. Murder. Period.

Mods please dont remove my post, as it is my first. If i'm -doin it rong- i'll try to do it right next time or edit.

I too do not approve of abortion. I really despise ppl that see it as a "get out of jail free card" if you will....
