Do any of you guys live in the real world or just the holier than thou sanctimonious one? Why do you put high peacetime standards on our own fighting men and women yet do not decry or give a rats ass about the enemies standards of capturing troops and civvies, then takung enormous joy when beheading them online?

Truth is.. When your mates are being blown up by roadside ied's by cowards who wont fight you openly as men, then taking pleasure at paying them back is to be expected... I know from personal experience... And there was sometime that i too enjoyed it... Seeing your enemies destroyed after they have killed a few mates... It doesnt get much better than that! No lost sleep about that one bit...

When you send warriors to do your bloody dirty work for the keyboard cowards back home, remember that mr tommy aitkin will be a civvie one day, and saying that crap to him will result in you seeing stars in daytime.

Only thing is killing is no good on either side, and when it's being done under the pretext of a legit war, and it's really about oil and a pipeline, it's not right.
I know some of the most feared fighters there are, but once they shoot you they fed you and I am sure would not laugh about the fun in killing you.

"Takung enormous joy when beheading'?
Yes, let's use that one event to justify a decade of warfare on foriegn soils, continue the crusades at the behest of the zionist nutjobs, and excuse our own war mongering fools who claim it's 'fun to kill'.
Ah yes, a rabbit from the hat of the Nick Berg School of Muslim Hating. That video was about as dubious as they come, and Nick Berg was 'investigating' the ISI/CIA ties to 9-11 suspects before his brief if not tragic stint in US custody. If you're looking for an event to use for demonizing a religon or a nation, the Nick Berg video isn't it.
IMO, he was a CIA lackey who got too close to the truth about Western involvement in the attacks of 9-11 and whose death at the hands of our own intelligence agencies was exploited to galnize anti-islamic sentiment and garner support for the illegal invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Source
...an American journalist with an Israeli stamped passport wondering around in Iraq for months looking for electrical engineering jobs, he was arrested at a checkpoint in Mosul for 'suspicous activity'. In an attempt to secure his release, his family promptly filed a lawsuit April 5th claiming that Berg was being held illegally by the US Military. There are conflicting reports of his whereabouts during the two week period of his detention and both the US and Iraqi Police denied holding him, but he was released the next day on the 6th.
Beth Payne, the U.S. consular officer in Iraq, had emailed Berg's family stating that "I have confirmed that your son, Nick, is being detained by the U.S. military in Mosul. He is safe. He was picked up approximately one week ago. We will try to obtain additional information regarding his detention and a contact person you can communicate with directly." Two days after his release from US custody, his body was found, and on May 11, a very suspect video of his execution was released on a now defunct islamic site.
The video instills alot of emotional reactions from people, so I think it's important to note that I'm not mitigating the horrific nature of the video but it's important to this point to note that there were a number of questionable things about it that, to my recollection, that were never really addressed or explained. These anamolies include the references made in the video to the Abu Ghraib Prisoner abuse photos, which had not been released yet, the orange jump suit Berg was wearing being identical to the standard US issued prisoner suits in Guantonomo Bay which, at least in my mind, suggests that Berg wasn't released but transfered to the custody of his captors, his lack of movement and blood during the actual beheading, the chair Berg is seated in during his speech is allegedly the same chairs, as well as the walls and baseboards of the room he was in, that were seen at the Ghraib Prison, the audio appears to have been dubbed in post production, the ethnic origin of the captors was questioned as some of them appeared to have white hands and Al-Zarqawi lacked his prosthetic leg, a tatoo, his Jordanian accent and wore a gold ring which is frowned upon for men in Islamic Culture, and one of the men was allegedly armed with a Galil, an Israeli made version of the AK-47.
The anamolies in the video are important because the men responsible for his execution are the self same operatives that we find connected not only to Islamic Militants, but also to the ISI as well as British and US Intelligence.

I think in the last two thousand or so years, we've done quite enough killing for god's chosen, it's high time they fought their own crusades.
"It's fun to kill in Afghanistan"... That's pretty twisted and highly irresponsible stuff, and as they unload the coffins of our own here, perhaps this ridiculous mantra will provide their grieving families some comfort to know their sons and daughters were 'having fun' over there. This turd should be locked up along with the rest of the patients in the Fletcher Memorial Home.

This man has a fried egg for a brain - he is thrilled - "slapping women around" and killing, shooting - wow - FUN!

If people like this are the top commanders in war, the world has no chance.

Leaders were once men of integrity. Not now.

so ... nothing more to add

I definitely have something more to add.

If the US lets a thicko abuser like that get to be a top person, the US is doomed.

At least NZ has a bit of integrity.

Soldiers do not get to decide what war is legit and what is not. The soldier takes his orders from those very same people who you voted for...

The job description of the infantry soldier is to "close in with the enemy and destroy them". Does that sound like a job in the womens institute or that we tickle people then offer group hugs for a living?

No... we are killers plain and simple, and our job is to aggressively seek out our countries enemy and kill them...

If you want us to stop then vote for the right people and get the troops home...

I dont agree with what that officer said but I understand it and worse is said by normal troop out of earshot of the press..

To be honest, when you are being shot at in combat the last thing you are thinking about is some false sabbatean bastard in the whitehouse/knesset/parliament but am totally thinking about killing those who are killing us... And yes we call them bastards and many other choice names and yes we have plans for them that wont go to well for them, but do not slag us for doing the job you pay us to do... After all., You sent us there., Vote for someone else next time.

Perhaps the good general should start off having fun in his own backyard first, knocking off those who abuse women through violence, assault, rape and murder just for being physically weaker, not having the dinner ready on time, not wanting sex...etc...etc...

See, it's not just religiously motivated brown people in foreign lands that are guilty of abuse. Maybe the general also gets a hard-on watching war porn of drone camera footage of unarmed people getting blown up too. After all, that's a manly pasttime too...isn't it?

Quite frankly, Sir, you are the only one posting on this thread who has any credibility. The General's remarks, and the thousands more like it made by the men on the firings lines, are normal and natural sentiments...referring to the people you are tasked with eliminating.

ATS, in general, seems to be rampant with anti-American, anti-British, anti-Western blowhards who, in reality, would be the first to hide behind the men in uniform they openly mock and deplore - if one day the war ever comes to them.

In times of war, one has to pick sides (unless you are Switzerland )
.

Whichever side you chose will be flawed, and will have good things and bad things about it. On balance, I side with the West...I like our way of life, our society, our freedoms, etc.

Let me think...would I rather have the U.S. as my friend and ally (with all of their faults), or would I like to play on Mullah Omar's armed team?

I pick...the USA...just my point of view of course.

I was a Nato soldier. I have worked in Afghanistan,Kabil and Mezar-ı Şerif, for the TR dept of Army for 10 months.
(28. Mknz. P. Tug. 1. Tb 3. Bl Nato Turkish Force - ISAF / Ankara)

This war will go on and on. U.S. no longer allow their military to win this war. Oil is much more valueable than blood for somppl.

Here is the situation of U.S.'s soldiers in afganistan. Morale is low; suicides are high; stress disorders are rampant both numerically and in their intensity; and broken marriages approximate the numbers that remain intact. U.S. is slowly killing himself. It's fun to kill in White House.

Well first off , when the innocent are in volved, and if wrong order was given I can think for myself enough to know what is wrong.
I did not vot for bush or obama.

If the order is to destroy enemy, why did you ever leave the USA they are "close enough there"

It doesn't take much much to kill, women and children, and you kill for the Company Big BiZ, oil, money, poppys. I don;t know who tommy ainkins is, but I know one of those special forces guys that came back, and though it would be funny to play grab butt with me, well that warrior ended up flat on his back, and didn't have much of anything to say when he got up.

Tommy Aitkin is British slang for a infantryman... And as a British Army soldier I did not come out of the US but have certainly chewed the same dirt on a few occassions! As for your altercation, kudos to you.. However i know you would not fare well against my lot...
As for foriegn policy.. We do not make it but enforce it. Youare the ones who provide the mandate to effect policy . I suggest you think deeper to whom you give that mandate the next time you are atthe polls...

As for decisions in the field... I suggest you put on a uniform and find out for yoursef the shear chaos that is combat... Then I will take your points on board...

What I find most entertaining is how westerners fight from miles away using drones, satellites, and advanced military hardware. Bring your swords to the battle ground then lets fight.

Hey wait a minute. I am a westerner. I must be one of those Caucasian American Al Qaeda liberal Obama loving characters.

Oh yeah I forgot..I'm also a conspiracy theorist whacko that none of the meds ever worked on.

*Snore*

Geez, I love to see everyone on ATS get their panties in a bunch over a comment made five years ago. And taken out of context.

He was saying that it's fun to shoot "guys" that slapped women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. He said they weren't "real men" and it was fun to shoot them.

And yes, he got his ass chewed for that comment.

He also told Iraqi tribal elders: "I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: IF you f**k with me, I'll kill you all."

I'm certain many here on ATS will take offense to that.

I'd like to kill folks too who slap women around for 5 years for not wearing veils and other idiocies like that....p%ssies. Freaking barbarics....teach them in the only language they understand-kick their @sses.

What were you guys expecting?

No really, no one stays in the military for the required length of time if they don't enjoy the job on some level. Yes, some people do like to fight. Some people join the military specifically because they love to fight. Why is this shocking to anyone? Do some sickos get through? Sure, but I don't think this guy is one of them. He was talking about smacking the Taliban around. People talk crap when they are fighting. That is normal. Gosh, I bet Patton would have made you guys pee yourselves.

I've been around the army too long to care about this kind of talk. I hear it a lot. It's normal.

Finally!! I decided to read every post before I put the same thing up. He made the comment years ago. If I'm not mistaken it was right after the battle for Falluja.

Some of the people here aren't doing a very good job of reading...
