ORLANDO, Florida (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that Saddam Hussein had "long-established ties" with al Qaeda, an assertion that has been repeatedly challenged by some policy experts and lawmakers.

The vice president offered no details backing up his claim of a link between Saddam and al Qaida.

Why can he go on record with these claims and not have anything to back it up?

Even Foxnews this morning (during their morning show) were saying he would need to try backing this up with some evidence.

You know there are thousands out there that will hear this and now feel the connection is made and vote/believe it to be so. I think that is why he does it.

For what it's worth, there is a book out by Stephen Hayes called The Connection: How al Qaeda's Collaboration with Saddam Hussein has Endangered America .

Here's an article about it - The Connection

And if even the "fair and balanced" network is saying that, the preposterousness coming out of Mr. Chaney must be reaching epic proportions indeed!!

For the love of cheese. When will it stop? Baseless allegations without fact or proof is a rampant trait of this administration. I think this is yet another stab in the back to the American people. What does the Bush administration think they are? This is the US not north korea, at least we can show them in november that we are sick and tired of being lied to time and time again. This legacy of lies torture and murder need to end somewhere.

Theres plenty of information available backing up Cheneys claim to those that will look for it, and don't swallow the press spin - even the Clinton administration cited links between Al Qaida and Iraq way before the current administration took office so I guess you can remove your politics from the equation and open your eyes.
