From my experience and background these "security guys" look, act, and sound like military special forces. I'd just about bet money on it. I've been around them and talked to them enough in "military relating to civilian" scenarios and this is exactly how they are trained to react.

Aaahh, you beat me to it. I dont know if I would go so far as to say SF, but from the posture, the mannerisms, the tone of voice, the avoidance and deflection of the reporter ...oh yeah, definitely military. Trust me folks; we can smell our own a mile away. The only question that remains for the three-dimensional thinker is this : Is this man former military, or current?

If former, then no big deal. That training sticks with you for life. However, if current - this is a whole new can-O-worms.

Is it even remotely plausible, that safety plays a part in denying people to the beach. With every other post here saying how if you breathe the benzene you'll die, the oil fumes are going to kill you, and the corexit is going to kill you...

But then as soon as you can't go on a beach (I'm assuming an oil covered one) its a vast conspiracy to keep you from seeing the real dangers.

I just find it odd that most of the posts are about forced evacuations due to the health affects, telling people to run for the hills because we are all doomed from the affects of the oil/dispersant/other chemicals. But then everyone wants to run and swim in the oil, and when they aren't allowed to BP is hiding something.

I don't understand the line of thought that makes you say the oil is dangerous to be around, but when people can't be around it it's not because its dangerous.

Also, I don't believe the "security thugs" are anything but locally hired people to assist in the clean up. They are not blackwater, or ex special forces.

Bastrop is about a six-hour drive from Cameron, and more than 7 hours from Venice.

I wish people would look objectively at the situation. The chicken little routine is tiring.

The beach cop clearly had no idea who these people were and did as little as possible to conform their identity, I'm sure when he got back to the office there were a few hard phone calls back and forth with the end result of him being told exactly what to do and not interfere.

I'm disgusted that Americans who worship the act of freedom are being corralled, ignored and lied to in such quantities of late. I have no doubt this oil situation is going to get MUCH worse, the idea of nuking it will in my opinion only make the situation worse, much worse.

And now the weird bit, I could be wrong and probably sound like a loon but here you go, is there anyone else who's finding the way the whole world is going is more than just strange. The world is broke, in financial ruins everywhere, also the planet seems to be at odds with itself, there's so many earthquakes, mud slides, storms volcano's and general mayhem world wide.

Are we entering the end of day scenario?

And worse, do the powers that be know about it, everything seems so fractured and so little information is being given out, in fact more and more is being denied. Does the guy from Wikileaks actually really know something BIG.

It may sound mad but form here it looks like the whole planet is being run into the ditch, I hope I'm wrong, here in the UK the extremists are slowly but surely taking over, I fear for my mixed race family, every where I look I see more mayhem on our streets, kids with no future and much worse kids who have no wish to work or better themselves in a legal way, gangs and drugs are all they aspire to here in Northolt on the edge of west London. The social standards are quickly heading in to the gutter while 3rd world loons appear to be more in control of us than our own government.

Looking at the US, suddenly the race issue has flared up hugely and yes, you are being over ran by the same 3rd world nutcases we have here. Eurpope is the same and every country is indeed in debt up to it's eyeballs, all bailing out eachother with money owed to them from countries that can't pay it back.

Sorry, but the planets future looks more than shaky, either it's going to blow itself up or it will be blown up by the loons with the weapons, either way I don't like the future...

And is it me or do you have a feeling Obama is making it much worse for every one, bowing to people we have long considered enemies, the race issue has flared up around him and like with every other serious issue he does nothing or even more disgusting goes to play golf, Nero fiddling and all that.

Are we being trashed so a single world order can take over?

I think you are right in that there is a public health concern. However, it would be a simple enough matter for the security or BP to say that. They are going about this in the most hamfisted and clumsy of manners, trying to control all information coming from the Gulf...

And also, like in most corporations I'm sure these employees have to sign non disclosure agreements. Many people might be willing to break these agreements, but not as likely with their boss standing right behind them.

I'm sure BP is doing more to protect its image than to protect the shores, but there are many logical reasons for enforcing security along most likely oil polluted beaches.

I personally would exhaust all the logical reasons before I started entertaining the "sky is falling" ideas instead of immediately jumping to the worst case scenarios.

Maybe I just think rationally.

Or maybe it is the end of humanity as we know it and I should be digging a hole for my family and stockpiling years of food for the oncoming disaster.

Not so wierd my friend....many other posts i have run across all seem to in essence say this very thing.
It is my own observation as well.....
Not only does everything seem broken, but the solutuions seem somehow devoid of reality.....(like everyone is to a degree ,gone off their rocker)
The old "Stop the world i want to get off!" cry of years ago rings even more frantically true today........
In my opine the world has gone mad....or alternately, the situations we have created have grown too large to address with any reasonable hope of success......!thus driving anyone mad who would contemplate finding solutuions....
There simply just isnt enough answers.....we moved way too quickly in the last hundred years.....things we thought were "good for us".....
were just good for somebody elses bottom line...
We have been manipulated, lied to,induced to murdering our fellow men,
we have been fed poison and told its good for our teeth....in order to facilitate one company in getting rid of a poisonous industrial waste.....

Its this peculiar ennui that seems to be affecting all of us......

Society is malfunctioning, that is obvious. The result will be more like some kind of feudal particularization. Government (?) agencies, corporations - they will all fight on their own for bare survival. I don't see how big states can survive such a collapse of economy we are facing. Who knows, just for the hell of it they might let the bombs fly on last time, you know, for old times sake.

I wasn't aware that what I have felt is so common amongst people, I truly thought I was being aver alarmist re this feeling I have had. To know it's common is even more worrying.

I'm well aware of what our lovely leaders are capable of doing, spraying people on our bridges as test rats is the least inhuman things they have done. Our leaders have literally turned every one against every one, colour on colour, religion as always has played it's usual part in the mayhem.

I wake up some times from a nightmare where Escape from New York has come true EVERY WHERE, groups of people walled into massive detention centers to roam and look after yourself. You know what, it feels damn real. Is this the least of the horrors I worry about?

You know, I'd love the notion of Aliens being true, a ship coming down and asking those that wanted to go to come with them. I'd jump on that ship with my lot in a heart beat.

Sadly that won't happen...

Well if and when they send those jack boot thugs to MS, They better not block off a public beach. The militia stands ready to escort media to any area that is owned by the public. If the security forces deny media access here in MS we will arrest them and let the local LE deal with them.

The first amendment will be enforced. If workers want to talk to the media they can with out fear of reprisal. While I also work Armed security I am fully aware of the rights people have. No private corporation has the authority block media access to workers that are working on public property.

BP cannot shutdown a public Beach. While I do understand the need to keep workers safe, You can not violate the constitution to do so.

We have also made local LE aware of our intentions and they are on board Unless the Government close the beach.

Maybe they don't want the workers to know about the health hazards. None of them were wearing respirators. If it is health concerns that are keeping the beach closed, shouldn't someone tell the workers?

I don't know if they are trying to keep looky loos off the beach or if there is already a health concern. But the media have a right to keep us informed. Wonder what would happen if a group of people tried to get access and they all put on respirators. Do you think that the workers would notice? Do you think they would start questioning?

BP must be paying the workers LOTS of Money for them to fear losing this job. That's how they get their silence.. And they may have had to sign a legal contract.

This needs way more investigation.

One things for sure.. one person will talk when the cleanup is over.

Someone should start a website for the workers so they can talk anonymously if they want.. this may lead to better investigation of what PB is trying to pull.

We should get some folks to apply for the cleanup job as a plant to get info.

I am going to write to WDSU and propose they do that. Join me.

Absolutely right. It is a health risk and BP is obliged to let these workers know the risks.

Again, absolutely right. If this was happening on private BP land, they could shut out the media. But when it is happening on our land and our water, affecting our livelihoods and our lives, neither BP nor the government have any right to shut out the media.

I personally think it is a good idea. Perhaps not a nuclear weapon, but a high explosive could do the trick. Same method, different tools.

The most important point to make from this is that it is ok to lie to us. The government can lie. BP can lie. They can sey whatever they want and get full credit and belief. But they are going to lie through their teeth and "polite" people have to go along.
