Not sure if this is the right place.
Guess I am asking if anything has really changed and why it has taken so long.

I was researching the Knights Templer and the Freemasons, to see what they had in common, and I came accross this interesting article by Jerry Russel, in which he compares both the Secret Societies of the ancient world, with their more modern equivalents
Many that I would not have thought of.......Very Interesting

"Possibly the most prototypical examples of secret societies are known as the "mystery religions" or "occult societies". These are religions which attempt (with varying degrees of success) to make secrets out of their central doctrines as well as their procedures and meetings. Examples include the Freemasons (and derivative organizations such as the Illuminati, Skull and Bones, Thule Society, Rosicrucians and so forth), the medieval Knights Templar, the Roman Catholic Jesuits and Opus Dei, the Assassins and some other sects of Ismaili (Aga Khan) Muslims, the Essenes and other Hebrew mystery cults, and ancient Roman Mithraism. The names of the deities of any particular occult society may vary from time to time and place to place, the underlying motifs and archetypes are generally similar, and closely related to the pantheistic astral and tribal paganism of ancient Mesopotamia. This is the worship of Mithra (the Sun), Sin (the Moon) and Lucifer (Venus), along with Ahura Mazda or Yahweh (the Great Architect of the Universe?) and Moloch and Baal, the tribal consorts of the astral gods. Modern apologists for Freemasons and other occult secret societies argue that these ancient pagan gods are correctly interpreted today as benevolent and altruistic symbols. However, in ancient history these same gods were portrayed as jealous and angry gods, actually psychopathic gods, who would lie and kill without remorse in the pursuit of ultimate and eternal power, and who demanded the aroma of human sacrifice. In their choice to preserve and venerate the memory of the psychopathic gods of ancient Mesopotamia, are modern psychopathic elites also revealing something about themselves?

Most modern human beings are convinced that these pagan gods passed into the dustbin of history two millenia ago, but we suspect that this may not be the case. Repeatedly throughout history, the elites of the Great World Empire have been attracted to religious secret societies such as these, which maintain a high regard for the ancient pagans. We submit that this is no coincidence.

In modern times we are also seeing a proliferation of elite secret societies which operate at an international level, such as the World Bank and IMF and associated world economic meetings, and the Bilderberg society. Similar organizations such as the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and Trilateral Commission seem to operate on an open level, although it is difficult to know whether they might have a secretive core level. These international (globalist) secret societies have an extraordinary and quite well-documented ability to attract wealthy and powerful individuals to form their core membership, just as the religious secret societies also attract these same individuals. Furthermore, their memberships are often interlocking, such as in corporate boards. As noted in Janis Irving's 1972 book "Victims of Groupthink", any committee or group (even one composed entirely of non-psychopathic individuals) can fall prey to various faulty decision making processes Also just as clearly, such an organization is a good place to organize a conspiracy -- that is, an illegal or wrongful scheme perpetrated by two or more persons acting in concert."

Thank you for mentioning Janis Irving's 1972 book "Victims of Groupthink".

People who demonstrate original or out-of-the-box thinking are the ones that TPTB are frightened of. They know how to hide things in plain sight & have refined their psychological programming to keep us distracted. They dictate what's "cool" & how we should act.
It's quite a deep rabbit hole! We may not know where it's leading, but we're catching on who/what started digging the hole in the first place!

Stay vigilant, my friend

The Op is most certainly in the right place.

There is a prevalent stigma to this field of study.

Oddly, even paranormal and ufology get more attention and respect.

Yet it seems so self-evident that cabals and cartels have plagued society since ancient history.

Good thread!

The Old World Order was the "holy roman empire" aka catholicism.

Thats why the secret societies were secret, they couldn't exist otherwise.

How did the French force the secret orders to flee their country to Scotland, if the "Old World Order" was all powerful... It was not, the church was all powerful at that time.

Yes, however, they prefer to call it lucifer.
And they are also naturalists...it's natural for self gratification.
Albert Pike (statue in Washington DC) was a 33rd Mason. His book Morals and Dogma, spell out the real evilness, nefariousness, of the Free Mason, Shriners Society. I will never trust any of them, and will always look upon anything they represent or say, with great suspicion.

Your quote puzzles me, the Roman Empireb was built before Jesus let alone Catholicism.

With all the talk about the NWO are we forgetting the secrets of the past.

Yes UFO's and the paranormal get more investigation that what is going on under our noses...why..

Sources please.

Catholicism has been hijacked many times since Peter received the keys to Heaven. The last contamination happened with Vatican II.
Here, Catholicism, was renamed Novus Ordo, or New Order.
There was nothing secret about John Paul kissing the quran, or bowing down to a hindu priestess.
Yet, there are still dedicated Catholics that worship the True G_D, The Father, His Only Begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost.
Period.

I recall seeing a blurb about world leaders offering their sympathies to the victims of the recent plane crash in India.

I thought that was unusual.

Why would they need to offer sympathies to the victims of... A plane crash?

IMO sacrifices are still a big part of the secret world religion of the elites, where the old Gods are still worshipped.

"Usery" was made illegal (lending money at interest) during those times, by the church(es).

Rosslyn Chapel (scotland) was a result of the secret societies fleeing France...I think it was the 14th century ? The Friday the 13th superstition was started as a result of French authorities accusing night templars of being satanic. Some were killed, the rest fled.

Every King in those days were anointed by the church (pope). Every state (country) had state run religions, such as the church of england.

The secret societies hated the all powerful religious fraud. Sadly, the secret societies have become what they despised so much. The average secret society member, is unaware of how their organization is being used, but the leadership of those organization, and select members know that......

Have you read the Old Testament? Talk about jealous and angry gods demanding human sacrifice!

Just how many omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent deities do you suppose there are?

Ummmm....are you sure about that?

The following quotes are from Pike's "Morals and Dogma":

Be faithful, therefore, to the promises you make, to the pledges you give, and to the vows that you assume, since to break either is base and dishonorable.

Be faithful to your family, and perform all the duties of a good father, a good son, a good husband, and a good brother.

Be faithful to your friends; for true friendship is of a nature not only to survive through all the vicissitudes of life, but to continue through an endless duration; not only to stand the shock of conflicting opinions, and the roar of a revolution that shakes the world, but to last when the heavens are no more, and to spring fresh from the ruins of the universe.

Be faithful to your country, and prefer its dignity and honor to any degree of popularity and honor for yourself; consulting its interest rather than your own, and rather than the pleasure and gratification of the people, which are often at variance with their welfare.

Be faithful to Masonry, which is to be faithful to the best interests of mankind. Labor, by precept and example, to elevate the standard of Masonic character, to enlarge its sphere of influence, to popularize its teachings, and to make all men know it for the Great Apostle of Peace, Harmony, and Good-will on earth among men; of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
- p. 112 - 113

Masonry is action, and not inertness. It requires its Initiates to WORK, actively and earnestly, for the benefit of their brethren, their country, and mankind. It is the patron of the oppressed, as it is the comforter and consoler of the unfortunate and wretched. It seems to it a worthier honor to be the instrument of advancement and reform, than to enjoy all that rank and office and lofty titles can bestow. It is the advocate of the common people in those things which concern the best interests of mankind. It hates insolent power and impudent usurpation. It pities the poor, the sorrowing, the disconsolate; it endeavors to raise and improve the ignorant, the sunken, and the degraded. p. 152

The great distinguishing characteristic of a Mason is sympathy with his kind. He recognizes in the human race one great family, all connected with himself by those invisible links, and that mighty net-work of circumstance, forged and woven by God.

Feeling that sympathy, it is his first Masonic duty to serve his fellow-man. At his first entrance into the Order, he ceases to be isolated, and becomes one of a great brotherhood, assuming new duties toward every Mason that lives, as every Mason at the same moment assumes them toward him.

Nor are those duties on his part confined to Masons alone. He assumes many in regard to his country, and especially toward the great, suffering masses of the common people; for they too are his brethren, and God hears them, inarticulate as the moanings of their misery are. By all proper means, of persuasion and influence,

and otherwise, if the occasion and emergency require, he is bound to defend them against oppression, and tyrannical and illegal exactions.
p. 176 - 177

Just what sort of "real evilness" and "nefariousness" is "spelled out" there?
