Crazy skies in the UK - Chemtrails? Contrails?

First thread! Exciting stuff.

I took these in the UK over the course of a day. I wasn't the only one who noticed, and it's happened repeatedly since. Chemtrails? They definitely aren't natural, at least as far as I can tell.

Any ideas? I'm pretty convinced that's not normal or natural - the trails are clearly creating clouds around them, formed by 'tendrils' that kind of grow off them and result in a wavey matt of cloud. If you look at the second from last picture you can still see the tendril formation imprinted in the base of the cloud.

It's not entirely clear from the photos, but in the later photos the clouds were in a wave across the sky, up and down at different altitudes. The original trail position hung below the clouds at the peak of the wave trough, and it looked like the cloud cover had flowed out of them. Very very odd.

The second picture was the strangest - the cloud cover was almost bumpy because the way the seemingly heavier trails had crossed in the sky. I figured it'd be a shame not to take some photos.

Let the debunking begin?

The temperature (second column) is cold enough for contrails to occur, with little or even no humidity, and the wind speed (eight column, in knots) is high enough to disperse the contrails, and encourage saturation to encourage them to spread out and persist.

Those are amazingly crazy pics, thanks for posting them! I see a lot of this around my area in Ottawa, Canada. They start early in the morning, and what was a criss cross of several "contrails" at noon turns into a fully over-cast sky by evening.

I agree with you that they do not look natural, but I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation for it. What would be accomplished with a mass chemtrailing operation that couldn't be accomplished in our water systems for a fraction of the cost?

We get these 5 times a week in S CA....There is always a plane dispensing them...you can see it....they don't even hide it anymore!!!!

Hello! Thanks for replying. I should've said, I didn't take them today, they were taken over a year ago now. I can probably find out the exact date and time tomorrow, I'll check the originals. I don't have them here right now tho.

It does happen quite a lot, and by the sounds of things not just here. Is that what contrails normally do? It seems quite a recent thing to me, it seemed to start here around 8/9/10 years ago.

I've seen planes 'dispensing' them too, it's quite a common thing here now. It's difficult to tell if it happens in the winter months tho because there's a lot of natural cloud cover, but in the summer it's quite blatant. It's the form of the clouds that gets me - they seem to roll in the sky. Very odd.

But chaff isn't an aerosol, and I've seen actual chaff before and it doesn't look like that.

Also, presumably the only time they'd use it here would as part of an exercise. Why would they dump loads of it over a massive population center on a regular basis?

I live in New Jersey and it looks like that everyday. I'm about 15 minutes away from Newark International Airport, so I see planes flying over head pretty closely all of the time, however I also see other planes far above in the sky spraying stuff too. Compared to commercials jets, that are only a couple hundred feet above the ground, these other planes must be thousands of miles in the sky. They are definitely spraying something.

I'm in London and I've been seeing the exact same thing all day today. It bugged me that I didn't have a camera to share this but thanks for getting these eightfold. Great pics

Also, I honestly don't think these are Chaff's, I've seen Chaff before and some of the things I'm seeing just doesn't add up. Just my opinion anyway, S+F.

About 5 years ago, my sister who lived in Lakeview, AR wrote me about the trails she had been noticing in the sky there. We're both in our 60s and obviously know what the sky looks like but nothing like we are seeing now. I'm in Illinois and am really curious about the streams crisscrossing.

No they are definently not chaff, chaff is almost invisible

They are definently (and in my proffesional opinion) lingering contrails, from numerous flights which have saturated the sky with water vapour, creating and stimulating cloud growth. Once the OP gives me the date and time, I should be able to prove this with the weather balloon data

Do you guys actually ever fly I have seen what you call chemtrails since the 60's.
Flying used to be a enjoyed only by the rich but now many people fly on holiday 2,3 even 4 times a year.
Something like 50,000 flights aound the world every day but we still have idiots on here wondering why you get dozens of CONTRAILS criss crossing then we have the real idiots on youtube trying to make a big deal of it.

Increase in flights increase in CONTRAILS its that simple.

Very similar skies here in Worcestershire on Sunday. They're not 'natural' as such - they are manmade clouds, formed from the exhaust of (mostly) transatlantic airliners*. There are 5-7,000 commercial aircraft flying over Britain every day and when atmospheric conditions are ripe, they do produce a lot of contrail-cirrus!

It's the price we pay for cheap, popular air travel

* looking at the atmospheric soundings, I'd say these were formed by aircaft at around 7-8,000m so probably aircraft taking off/landing in the UK rather than continent which would more likely be at around 10,000 (though I'm open to being shown wrong as I'm no aviation expert!)
